Sales person when over and above expectations in helping my wife and I book a cruise

Dear Hays Travel Rickmansworth,

I am writing this from the Occidental Ibiza, where we have just checked in to begin what was meant to be a special family holiday. The holiday you recommended and sold to me cost £3,700. Based on your advice, I trusted that this hotel was “good and reliable” – you even reassured me by emphasising your experience at TUI and saying you knew what was best for us. Unfortunately, the reality is completely unacceptable.

Key issues on arrival:
• Our Jet2 booking (Ref: BF2QB4 / 18485286) clearly states 2 adults + 2 children, yet the hotel has us recorded incorrectly as 2 adults + 1 infant.
• The room is tiny, far too small for a family of four, and completely unsuitable.
• My three year old is expected to sleep on a sofa bed directly under a blasting air conditioning unit, with a two-foot drop onto tiled flooring and no guardrails. This is dangerous and risks both falls and illness from the cold air blowing on her all night.
• No travel cot has been provided for my one-year-old, despite this being essential.
• Despite raising this with hotel staff immediately, it is now 10:30pm and nothing has been done. We are left with two exhausted young children and no safe sleeping arrangements.

This is not the holiday I paid for. I relied on your personal recommendation, and you assured me this hotel was right for my family. It is in fact unsafe, unsuitable, and a complete failure of duty of care.

I need urgent action to move us into proper accommodation tonight. I also expect this complaint to be formally logged, investigated, and escalated, as this situation is a direct result of your advice and booking recommendation.

I trusted Hays Travel with my family holiday and a £3,700 spend. Right now, we are left in unsafe conditions with two small children this is simply unacceptable.

I just wanted to say a BIG THANKS to all the staff of Hays Rickmansworth especially Natalie, Fleur, Geoff and Mel. They supported me in booking a euro-Disney break for my disabled nephew. They were very helpful, understanding and patient. I couldn’t have done it without them. Thank you.
