Wigan Go Outdoors is a large store with immense choice, high quality products, great value, serviced by professional and friendly staff, including the helpful John working at the footwear section today and the counter staff too. Excellent customer service from a member of staff called Paul. Very knowledgeable gave me great advice and helped with what I needed to buy. Very friendly and did not act like he had somewhere better to be. Lovely clean and tidy shop great atmosphere.

Visited this store in Wigan - Paul the member of staff on camping was very helpful and kind when helping me decide on a new tent.

I went to pick up my online, in store order only to find that the boots which had been put to one side for me weren't actually the boots I'd ordered but were a £30 dearerversion. I spoke to Nikki - very helpful member of staff. Unfortunately the boots i wanted weren't in stock in store but were available to be delivered to store. Ordered and paid for I went home. I opened my emails only to find one from Go Outdoors telling me that my boots were out of stock and I needed to return to the store for a refund.
At 19:52 I got to the store and explained to an exasperated Nikki what was going on. She seemed as almost frustrated as me. Very apologetic. I was introduced to Gemma who had to do the refund. After hearing the saga she was also also very apologetic. I cheekily asked that for all the inconvenience could I not have the more expensive pair for the price of my first choice. Both Nikki and Gemma were in agreement that this was fair. Both of these members of staff were very helpful, courteous, apologetic and grateful that a resolution could be had. And all of this at the end of their working day. Great service.

My experience at the Wigan branch rebuilt confidence in Go Outdoors. Jon, Mandi and Zoey were all absolutely fantastic 👏🏻. Over and above. Thank you all.

I visited the Wigan Go Outdoors store today to exchange my walking boots. I bought them in March and they needed exchanging but I had misplaced my receipt. Yasmine at the till was so incredibly helpful, she managed to locate the sale via my Go Outdoors membership and exchanged them with no fuss! Fantastic service. She was so
helpful and even when there was a slight issue, she solved it easily and calmly. Thanks Yasmin!

We went to go outdoors to purchase a tent in the Black Friday deal
We went in blind not knowing what to buy and we must have looked lost. We would like to thank Paul for coming over and helping us with his knowledge of the stock and providing us with the information. Paul helped us gage what size and length the tent would be by showing us using the shop floor as the tents outside had been put away.
We ended up with a berghaus night fall and a windbreaker which we are very happy with x

Visited the Wigan store today, Friday 21st of November 2025.
My wife and myself needed to exchange some hiking boots that we had bought earlier in the day, which proved to be slightly too tight a fit.
We were met by one of your floor staff, name of Danny, in the hiking boots and shoe department. He was extremely helpful, polite and patient as we tried on several different sizes until we found the correct fit for our boots.
Danny was very knowledgeable, funny and listened to our stories about hiking as we tried on the boots. We had a laugh and he was just a really lovely, nice young man and great with customers.
We wish Danny well and what a super sales assistant he is!

I am travelling to South America in January, and I am overwhelmed with what to buy. I went in to have a look at shoes and was served by Mandi, who also served me a few weeks later when I returned to purchase said shoes.

I genuinely cannot praise her enough. She had such a breadth of knowledge and went above and beyond on both visits, making sure I had tried out many styles and was confident with my choice. She was warm, personable, and remembered me on my second visit. In summary, she was an absolute gem, and I think we could all do with being a bit more Mandi. She made an overwhelming situation both easy and enjoyable.

The shoes were an excellent purchase, I’ve started wearing them to break them in and they’re very comfortable but somehow lightweight (Scarpas). I am so grateful to all the staff for how accommodating and kind they have been in the other areas/checkout. I will be going back to buy my other items purely because of their knowledge, the customer service is an added bonus! :)
