Went to buy a lightweight, wide brimmed, hat. Staff member asked if I needed help ; I said what I wanted. Out of several types of hat on display, he offered me a baseball cap, as the only one which was waterproof. I said what about this one, holding a lightweight, wide brimmed hat with "dry" printed on it in large letters ; "oh that isn't waterproof".
I read the label which clearly said it was waterproof, so at £22 displayed price I decided to buy.
Took it to the til, "that'll be £30 please". I told him it wouldn't, and pointed out it was displayed as £22. " Oh sorry, that'll be £27".
I again pointed out it clearly says £22 as displayed. He then went into a dialogue about the displayed price being a members price, and that £5 has to be added onto the displayed price for non members.
I stated that this was a clear breach on Trading Standards legislation, as it was misleading.
I reluctantly paid £27, and left.
I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN GO OUTDOORS AGAIN".

Staff including Abbie worked well to find items requested.

Nice to have a local, high street store as opposed to driving miles to an out of town retail park. Served by the very helpful Chris where nothing was too much trouble.

Every time I visit this store, I am met with staff with enthusiasm, knowledge and professionalism. All the staff have admirable customer service experience. On my visit today I was served by Mimi. Twice she has been available to assist me with my purchases and on all occasions has been extremely helpful….well done

I rang the Birkenhead store today to check if they had an item in stock that I have been after for a while and I was greeted with the super friendly Mimi, she was super helpful and confirmed the item was there. She very kindly put it to one side for me to come to the store and collect. I was then made up to be greeted in store by the lovely Mimi who I went above and beyond for me today. I honestly can’t think of a single time I had customer service so good! Thank you very much and keep smiling!

Every time I come into this store the staff are so friendly knowledgeable and helpful. Went in today to exchange a pair of a sandals and was served by Adam who was so very polite, and professional and went above and beyond to help us.

Excellent service from Adam when purchasing new pair of waking boots. Very knowledgeable and happy to give advice with no pressure. Cheers mate.

Abbie is just fantastic ! Called her for info regarding hiking gear in the morning and was extremely helpful and knowledgeable once I got to the shop this afternoon. Cannot beat this kind of superb service ! Thanks

Lovely customer experience, staff ensured us they were available if we needed anything and had lovely energy (jack). I only got what was necessary today but I will be coming back for a free spirit coat after having a chat with one of the staff members (Abbie).

Abbie served me. She was very knowledgeable and gave me good advice about walking shoes. She found me the perfect pair. I was very specific about what I needed and she was very helpful in finding me a range of alternatives to choose from. It is always a bit daunting when faced with a wall of shoes and Abbie's help was invaluable.

Adam, the sales assistant was very pleasant and competent. He was knowledgeable about the range of boots and trainers and very patient, not pressurising for a sale. A good shopping experience.

Chris was great today when I called in for camp bed and sleeping bag, very helpful and he was surprised a few hours later when I went back to rebuy the same items for a friend, thanks chris

I had an issue with my membership not showing when I trying to order items on the web site, the members price was not being added at the checkout. I went into the store and spoke with Adam who confirmed my membership was valid, he then ordered the items for me, which he has delivered to the shop for me to collect today. Fantastic service and help from all the staff at this store.

Chris was extremely helpful with product choices, he guided me in an informed and considerate manner so I decided to spend twice as much as I had planned because of the unobtrusive way in which he dealt with me. I would come again.

Click and collect service is very good, however I was unable to shop for any camping gear in the Birkenhead store as there was no lift or escalator.
Disability access is a right, so probably won’t shop with you again
