Great service from Joe, he knew all about the different walking boots and quickly helped me select a pair that was right for me. His knowledge on each boot was excellent, really made it easy to get the right pair

Brilliant shop. We found three rucksacks that were perfect for us. We'd been looking for ages with no luck but we were glad to see Go Outdoors in Ambleside. We were served by Joe who was so friendly and gave us great tips on where to go for a hike. He was brilliant with my kids who were excited to visit Rydal Caves and the Badger Bar after speaking with him. Thank you Joe and Go Outdoors Ambleside 😊

Hats off to Joe at your Ambleside store for being so attentive and warm with my son. He made sure his boots fit correctly and spent time making sure he got the right pair. He even showed my son a new way to tie his boots! What a great lad. He made us want to buy the boots from this store rather than looking elsewhere. Good work Joe. You'll go far 😊

Wanted a water proofing spray. Main writing said £9.75... when I was paying the woman said £11... When I questioned it she rather sharply said, "no... That is for members... It quite clearly says so!"
I beg to differ... So much for the customer is always right....
PC world used to do this with Ex vat pricing until they were told not to....

Bought a Sealskinz hat. Not cheap but I was looking for something for more extreme weather. Marked price £31.50. However, if you are not a Go Outdoors member, it costs £35(!) which is on the price tag in small print. Annual membership costs £5(!) so you have to buy at least one thing a year to make it cost effective. To add insult to injury, I volunteer with a UK mountain rescue team. As we are out a lot in all weather, we go through a lot of kit so most outdoor clothes shops give us a mountain rescue discount (typically about 10%) - but not Go Outdoors, unless you are a member. Range of clothing in the store looks very reasonable but because of price, I won't be rushing back.

Really good customer service. The member of staff took time to listen to what we wanted, offered a price match and gave advice on a pair of insoles I wanted. Spot on. Thank you.

Staff were very helpful and there's a lot of stuff which is good for backpacking. Being a member with discounts definitely means I'll choose to browse in GO first over other outdoor shops.

Recently visited GoOutdoors, Ambleside and received first class service from Carl (I'm sure that was his name) who seemed very clued up and experienced on all aspects of outdoor gear, no hard sell, just plenty of information to allow informed choice. He spent a lot of time and effort getting me boots that fitted me well.
I had to laugh though when I saw someone give Carl a big hug from behind and made him go redder than the huggers hair, I thought it was a customer but it was another staff member, it's refreshing to see people enjoying working together, one happy family.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, humour and boots that fit...a great start to a week on the hills. By coincidence I bumped into Carl out walking later in the week and he asked how my boots were...literally going the extra mile. The joke was on me this time though as we walked up an incline at pace, I was the one all red faced and breathless while he looked fresh as a daisy :-)

The staff, especially the lady who served us and the gentleman, who we believe was the manager (sorry didn’t get their names). We were told our card had expired but were fairly certain it hadn’t. The gentleman in question took the time to check the system and eventually confirmed the card was still current. Had he not taken that time we would not have received member price and would have not purchased the products.

Nice shop, friendly and efficient staff

The shop was well stocked and priced competitively. The staff however is the reason for a five star feedback. Very friendly, helpful and excellent at making me feel comfortable with my purchase.

For the second time shopping in Ambleside the staff consider the customer less important than going for lunch / restocking the shelves. Several customers waiting at two tills with 2 staff, after serving one customer one just locked the tills and walked off making the comment to me that it was her lunchtime. Previously the same thing happened when one staff left several queuing whilst he decided that some garments on hangers needed putting back in the right place. And he did this one by one removing them from next to the tills. Obviously queuing customers are low priority in this shop.
I have been buying from you for years and no longer recommend you.

We visited the Ambleside store & my wife went downstairs to view the Ladies department, I am in a wheelchair & one of the friendly staff approached me to let me know that they could open a door on the lower level to let me into the Ladies department. But they have no disabled access upstairs to the Mens department?

If I could give 6 stars I would. Came in looking around after some bits for an upcoming trip to the alps, ended up speaking to Carl who was the most helpful assistant I’ve probably ever met. Helped me and my husband buy bits that we needed without the hard sell. Very knowledgeable, thank you!
