I ordered a wireless access point from Getic. While the pricing and overall shopping experience were very good, unfortunately, the delivery experience left a lot to be desired.

I wanted to save some money on delivery costs, so I chose DPD pickup/collection rather than delivery to my home address. Looking back, I regret that decision.

During checkout, I was given two pickup-point options in my city and selected one of them. The order was processed and dispatched very quickly, which I appreciated. However, the following day I discovered that the pickup point Getic had provided did not actually appear to be a DPD pickup point at all.

The location was a random gas station that was not listed as a DPD pickup point anywhere on DPD's website or on Google. It wasn't even identifiable as a former DPD pickup point that had since closed. Naturally, I was concerned that the package might be refused, returned to sender, or otherwise mishandled.

To avoid that risk, I had to reschedule the delivery myself through the DPD website and redirect the package to a legitimate DPD pickup point nearby. Unfortunately, this added another 2–3 days to the delivery time.

Then, on the actual day of delivery, the DPD driver decided that the package was too large for the locker and did not deliver it. I had to contact DPD myself and arrange to collect the package directly from their delivery depot. When I collected it, it was immediately obvious that the package would have comfortably fit inside a delivery locker.

So, while I am happy with Getic as a store and I am happy with the item I purchased, the shipping experience was unnecessarily frustrating. I also appreciate that the delivery problems are not entirely Getic's fault, as DPD is ultimately responsible for the driver's actions and the delivery itself. For that reason, I would not place all of the blame on Getic.

There are, however, two other issues that I think Getic should address.

First, the product listings state a 12-month warranty, while EU consumers generally have a minimum two-year legal guarantee for goods purchased from a trader. Presenting a 12-month warranty and then offering customers the option to pay to "extend" it can therefore be misleading, because the statutory consumer rights are not simply an optional warranty extension.

Second, during checkout, customers are given the option to pay an additional fee to "insure" their parcel. In my case, the fee was only €1.25, so I decided to pay it simply to be safe in case something went wrong. However, consumers should not be led to believe that they need to purchase additional insurance to protect themselves against problems such as goods being damaged, lost, or stolen in transit where the retailer remains responsible under applicable consumer law.

Overall, I am satisfied with the store itself, the pricing, and the product I received. However, the delivery process was unnecessarily complicated, and I believe the way the warranty and parcel-insurance options are presented during the purchasing process could be improved significantly.
