Poor experience
I went with this score only because the gent that collected my car was polite, helpful and careful getting the car off my drive.
This is where the good experience ended.
Had to basically beg for my money, constant excuses, spoke to 5 different people in the end and waited 48 hours to get paid.
Asked for a certificate of destruction which 2 months on and still not received it.
Rang and emailed. Usual promises undelivered.
EMR Chard - Disgrace
Normally do not have any issues with the Northern depots but the depot at Chard is nothing short of a shambles. Disgusting attitude from woman on the desk towards my driver. Nobody comes to work to be spoken to in such a manner, especially when you are the customer. Also, yard is littered in metal shards to which they want you to drive your vehicle over. Won't be attending this dive again.

I find that EMR Boreham " stands out " a little due to the friendly atmosphere from the minute that you park on the weighbridge, the staff treat you with respect and are very helpful too.
Newmarket, East Tilbury & Gt Yarmouth, in my opinion are close behind .

I use the Boreham one, very competitive with prices, really organised and always so helpful and friendly, that I have started using this site on a regularly basis. A special shout out to Donna as well, a credit to the company.
Good Service and Swift Payment
Good phone service and swift payment, unfortunate the same can’t be said for the practical element. In total I waited 5 weeks for my car to be collected, after multiple book ins failed to turn up. The first two scheduled collections the driver cancelled due to a fault with his truck. It was then rebooked in for two weeks later, where the driver turned up but was unable to start my car due to a faulty jump pack. My car was eventually picked up the following week but after several phone calls to rebook it did get rather frustrating. They gave me the best price though and I didn’t need the car gone urgently. The driver who collected my car was friendly and had good communication, I think it was just bad luck his jump pack failed initially, he just wasn’t the most punctual, but I get things happen. Friendly phone service and payment received an hour after collection.

I arrived at EMR Mitcham, as a newbie with some scrap metal from my bathroom refurb. The receptionist took my details from my driving licence and sent me to join the queue with the tradies. I didn’t have a clue how it worked, but the guys were really friendly and sorted and weighed it all for me. I was really happy with the price offered and the money has arrived in my bank account today. I’m a very happy customer.

I think it must vary hugely depending on the site.
EMR gloucester is great, far better prices than another local scrap yard. Plus they are friendly and helpful.
No complaints whatsoever.

I use the Glasgow south street branch frequently and all I can say is all the staff there are brilliant. Always happy to chat and have a laugh while completing business at the same time. Cheers guys great service.

Wandsworth branch - were fantastic and very friendly. My husband and I took a load of metal bits and pieces we had accumulated over the years. We had tried to sort it ourselves, but it was fascinating to watch the skill and speed they sorted it properly. They even handed us back a piece saying it might be silver so we should check it out. The money was paid promptly the next day,

I booked a collection when getting my quote and was called within an hour to confirm the date. Within the confirmation call I was told the car could be collected sooner, which I agreed to. I took the day off work so I could wait at home, the waiting never stopped.
I called at 2:40pm and was told that the drivers are still on their way but they have vehicles onboard but car will definitely be collected bby 4pm because thats when the yards close, I was told I would get a call back ASAP with more details. Nobody called back.
I called at 3:50pm, explained the whole thing and was told the original date was never changed, the guy who booked me in has *just* gone on holiday and nobody was ever coming on the day I was told over the phone. I then requested that they collect the next morning and I was told I'd get a call back and that never happened.
I called them at 8.30 the next morning, 30mins is plenty of time for them to make up for not calling me back. Spoke to someone new again, had to explain the whole situation again and then was told the collection was never changed and there was no chance for them to collect any earlier even though they promised it.
When speaking to the customer service people they seem nice but theres no follow through on their promises. I cancelled the booking and got a price from a local scrapyard who came and collected same day.
I'd not recommend this service to anyone, I have lost a day and a halfs wages, 1 day waiting in for them and then half a day to fix their mess by contacting someone else. They claim to make it as easy as possible but all I had was stress, then the local scrapyards who they claim are hassle are the ones that were the happiest and easiest people to deal with.
I am livid, and I wont get my time or money back and these are the two things they claim they save you. Failed on both counts. When I cancelled the booking it was "okay have a nice day"...

Very disappointed that the guy never told me how to separate the metal to get more money. I told him that I had a lot of cast iron separated and I had stainless steel but he sent me to scragg and did it all on there. I am new to this but since learnt that he should have sent me to separate bays
Very efficient and prompt service…
Very efficient and prompt service throughout, car collected from driveway the day after phone enquiry, by Bellshill depot, the closer Dundee depot presumably not having avalability at such short notice, payment was received by bank transfer on same day as collection, certificate received by email the next day. Friendly and mostly communicative interactions, over the phone and in person on collection, the only exception being that no warning was given about the risk of contamination by dirty grease of the gravel in front of the house where the pickup truck extendable ramp touched the ground. Unfortunately it turned out that quite a lot of grease was actually left on the gravel which was only discovered when the grease was inadvertently brought into the house on soles of shoes with resulting minor staining to the floor coverings. But for that unfortunate damage the service would have been rated as five star. When brought to their attention the company told me they spoke with the driver who said they check the vehicle daily to make sure everything is fine and report any repairs or maintenance required and thanked me for mentioning the problem which they will have look at again.
