I sold my car with car take back, with a confirmation quote of £200. They knew all of the details, make, model etc. The car even still drives and just needs repairs to make it consistent and its not money we could put into it. They arrived, late, loaded it up on their truck, and then once they had my car, said they wouldn't accept £200. I said that was the quote that was agreed, and there is no damage to any panels. They said it was 'too small', however they already knew the cars size when they offered the quote so this is ridiculous. They had all the cards because already strapped the car up and were trying to drive away with it. They ended up saying £100 is the most they will pay, I said right well I have no choice then, and then they drove away. Any help would be really appreciated, we are really concerned.

All these positive reviews! So how disappointing to have a day set for car collection in not one but two weeks where they just didn't turn up. We were assured we'd been given priority for the second appointment. We had to cancel and go elsewhere; the delay has caused a lot of inconvenience and worry..

Absolute scam company. Their set up appears to be to provide you with a misleading higher valuation which you accept, then based on a ridiculously short phone 'assessment' reduce it and take the attitude of 'take it or leave it', knowing that people have little alternative. I would love to know if these cars are actually being scrapped or are they being 'fixed up' for resale to scam somebody else. I understand that the online valuation is a rough ball park but this seems to be standard practice with this company. If the original valuation was closer to the second offer, then I wouldn't be as unhappy with the service. It just feels like they are attempting to attract customers through these high first 'valuations' then seek any excuse to reduce it. Shame

Quote went from £1100 to £530 to £400 on collection..
Beware! Just get told "up to the quote" I thought" accepting "a quote meant just that..we both agree..but no..just a wind up! Don't bother..
Load of crap!!

I was selling a non-runner, they quoted me £330. I told them all the details from the RAC breakdown report and they confirmed £330 which I accepted. Then I got the phone call to "arrange collection" and was told I would get £230. NO details had changed and they didn't ask anything else. They said the online quote was only a guide. Contrary to their reply - they were already aware of the state of the car. I had sent an email and when they phoned they said they could see the details.

Very easy site to use, company who up lifted car very helpful and was kept uo to date when coming to collect vehicle.

The pick up Guy was brilliant,think he was called Chris he was friendly , polite and even took the time to call me to say my house keys were on the keyring with my car key after he left and he brought them back! amazing service 10/10 - highly recommend
Also company kept us informed of timings for pick up which was really helpful and payment was sent next day😊

I needed to get rid of my car quickly as the MOT was about to expire and the clutch needed replacing, which I couldn’t afford to repair.

The initial online quote from CarTakeBack was £1,156, which I accepted. I was then contacted by Redcorn, the company contracted to collect the car. After asking about the car’s condition, I explained that it sometimes got stuck in gear, which I suspected was due to the clutch needing replacement. Based on this, they reduced the offer to £966. I accepted this revised amount, and the woman I spoke to was professional and friendly.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t present when the Redcorn driver arrived to collect the car, so my partner handled the handover. At that point, the offer suddenly dropped from £966 to £600. The driver claimed the turbo was failing—something he supposedly diagnosed just by listening to the engine being revved. This was completely untrue.

He called me to explain, and I told him that Ford EcoBoost engines are known to sound slightly rattly, and that the car had sounded the same since I bought it 10 years ago, when it was just one year old. Despite this, the driver continued with vague claims about offering the “best price.”

As I needed the car gone quickly and had nowhere to keep it off the road, I reluctantly accepted the reduced offer.

I strongly feel that the driver fabricated issues to justify lowering the price. It gave the impression that there may be an incentive for drivers to reduce offers at collection.

I would not use CarTakeBack again, especially if Redcorn is involved. My advice to others would be to refuse any last-minute price reductions if a driver starts claiming questionable or unverifiable issues with your vehicle upon collection.

Very helpful, quick to collect, reasonable price

They eventually did what they said BUT the first time, they just didn't show up. So I had to call after waiting all day to ask, and then was told they wouldn't pick up until the next week with no explanation. So on one hand, they eventually did exactly what they said and I was promptly paid and the workers I actually interacted with were great. But on the other hand, the whole experience kinda felt like pulling teeth. I had to be the one to ask the questions of what they needed from me, what to do if it had to be a contactless pick up, what email address to send things to, etc, and then they ended up picking the car up a full week after they said. So pros and cons, I guess?
