Biased and dismissive to protect their members
There is no point in making a complaint with the BIAE. I made a complaint after being left with blisters, extreme swelling, and seeping fluid after an electrolysis treatment.
I have never had that reaction with a previous BIAE member. I had many treatments with the previous practitioner.
I reported the clinic in question and I was told by BIAE initially it was overtreatment. I submitted many red flags, but the main point I reported was that the electrologist did not use suitable magnification (I am a senior optometrist with 10 years experience, so that is my area of expertise). However, they completely dismissed this.
They were quick to paint my experience as an ‘adverse’ reaction. Even though I gave them details of the previous BIAE member to see how I react usually to treatment, they did not even get in contact with her. They dismissed my background in optics and believed the electrologists word over mine.
I also mentioned how only my cheek was patch tested, not my upper lip which is the area that is now scarred the most, as well as the fact my hair was ‘cleared’ when it was dense.
I am thoroughly disappointed to say the least, as I feel they were biased towards their member. They also said my scars would resolve 3-4 months later- it’s now been 5 months I have permanent indentations and pock marks that will cost me hundreds to attempt to heal.
