Dyno-Rod - Yorkshire Omdömen 

I never write angry reviews but I am so shocked by the pricing I feel compelled to explain. I will start by saying that all staff members I interacted with were polite and helpful, including the drainage engineer who unblocked the shower drain and gave me helpful advice about where he thinks my problem of a leak is coming from. My problem is with the company itself and its pricing.

I was charged £195 which I frankly was shocked to hear for unblocking a shower drain which took less than 20 minutes. I think it is a complete rip off and totally unacceptable for a small job. I did not argue with the engineer as I assume it is not him who sets the pricing so not his problem to deal with. I am really disappointed as all I wanted was someone to explain why my shower is leaking.

Originally I booked a plumber who was just going to quote me, but after telling him that my shower tray was also filling up he said I needed a drainage engineer. So I called the dyno-rod number and was told I needed to contact the drainage team, so I called them who said I needed to call British Gas because I was a British Gas customer (which I later discovered is only relevant if you pay British Gas for the plumbing and drainage cover, not if you just use British Gas for your gas and electric. I wish this was explained to me and I would not ever have called them out. I think this misunderstanding also meant that the engineer didn’t tell me how much it was going to cost before doing the work. If I’d have known I would have politely declined his help).

Obviously I then never got through to anyone on the British Gas phone line because they are dreadful anyway, so I booked through the website. I think the British Gas website is misleading when it talks about the average call out costs for dyno-rod as roughly £150 as from what I can see on trustpilot they only charge a minimum of £190 for minor jobs. I would never have expected to be paying £195 for a job I probably could have done myself. I am happy to pay someone for their time and skill to do these jobs, but within reason. £195 is totally unreasonable. I decided on a larger company because I thought (wrongly) that I’d be safer from being ripped off for an odd job. Lesson learned!

What I would like is for someone from dyno-rod to contact me and explain exactly why I’ve been charged what I have. Frankly I’d like a good amount of money back. Would absolutely not recommend this company to private customers, avoid at all costs unless you are a millionaire.

Edit: Although the engineer was nice I will say, he put the contents of the blockage from my shower drain in my toilet. Having just had to fish it out so it won’t actually cause another blockage in my toilet, I wonder what the logic behind that was? I should have questioned it at the time but you’d think for £195 they would at least dispose of the blockage? The receipt he left said “cleaned area” which is questionable considering I’ve just had to scrub the toilet to get the remains of whatever the blockage was off the toilet bowl.

Josh A came out to repair the toilet flush. He replaced the old one and was extremely helpful, polite and considerate and made sure that I was happy with everything before he left. First class customer service.

Called in the afternoon and someone came out the same day as we had a flood in our garage that we thought was related to a drain problem. Helpful man (not sure of his name- maybe Cory?) identified that it was actually a split copper pipe in the corner of the garage and that we would need a plumber. Helped us to isolate the pipe to stop the leak. Had to charge half the price of clearing drain, but fair enough as he had to come out.

Absolutely shocking. Guy was here 10 minutes to unblock the kitchen sink which he did with a plunger. I told him that the problem was severe to which he laughed. Paid £95 for a call-out which I was supposed to feel grateful for as he didn't charge the £180. Two days later and I have the same problem!!! Absolute joke.

Service and communication was excellent two guys who came round, worked out a reasonable solution to fix the problem which was great as it was New Years Eve

Totally understood the problem upon arrival, were very knowledgeable, pro active and straight to the job. Very thorough and ensured job was fully complete before leaving everything tidy and clean.

Prompt efficient service. The chap who came was genuine and explained the what had caused the problem.

Fantastic service! Our plumber recommended this company after our pipe was completely blocked and water wouldn’t drain. The technician was very professional and friendly, checked everything thoroughly, and suctioned a huge ball of fat from under the sink. We were given a fixed price upfront with no add-ons, which was great. After a bad experience with another company before, it was refreshing to deal with such an honest and reliable business. Highly recommend and would definitely use again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

After struggling with an ongoing drainage issue, I called Dyno-Rod and couldn’t be happier with the service. Booking the call-out was quick and easy, and the engineer listened carefully to the symptoms I described.
Within minutes of arriving, they identified the most likely cause and checked the main drain first. The blockage was immediately obvious once the manhole cover was lifted and was cleared quickly and efficiently. No unnecessary investigations, no upselling — just a clear explanation and a straightforward fix.
The issue was resolved instantly, and they even jet-washed the line to make sure everything was fully clear. The whole visit took around 30 minutes, and most of that was admin.
Professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Dyno-Rod again and would highly recommend them

Great service at a very busy time of year. Excellent job & a really pleasant guy - we now have a completely clear sink drain.

Quick response - came out within an hour of the call.
Diagnosed the problem (foul smelling blocked drain), took up the covers and power flushed the blockage out. Then made sure it was running free and clean.
Cheerful chap doing an unpleasant job!

Called Dyna-Rod today with an emergency drain issue. The guy on the phone was super helpful and booking was very easy. They then arrived within 2 hours to my home. Diagnosed the issue very quickly. Cleared and fully jetted my outer drains, tested then cleaned up and disinfected the area afterwards. Very professional quick service. I also thought the fee of £250 for an out of hours emergency on a Sunday was very reasonable as many other were much more expensive.
