Great taste, questionable price point
I purchased the Easter Hamper post Easter, as there was a nice little discount and it gave me the option of trying lots of things. I was thinking about purchasing birthday cakes from them in future if they held up. The packaging was gorgeous, although I was a little surprised when I picked it up because it wasn't very heavy. Everything was smaller than expected. At first, I thought the 6 inch cake was a tiddly one for Easter, but nope, this is the standard! Now, I'm happy not to be wasting any because our family is small, but I did a quick calculation and it works out at £8 a slice if you're buying a regular slice?! That would be pricey at a sit down restaurant with garnishes and extras! Now, the taste itself was absolutely divine, but gorgeous as it was, I just don't think that can be justified, so I'll be looking elsewhere for special occasion cakes sadly. This was a fun experience, but we're one-and-done.

On the price point, we completely understand the reaction and it's a fair question to ask. What we'd love to share is what's actually behind it. Every cake is handmade from scratch using real ingredients throughout. Real chocolate, real butter, real fruit. No chocolate flavourings, no artificial additives, no preservatives. The chocolate alone costs significantly more than the compound chocolate used in most commercial baking, and that's before the hours of skilled handwork that go into every single cake that leaves our kitchen.
A 6 inch cake is also intentionally designed to serve a smaller gathering beautifully rather than feed a crowd, which is exactly why it worked so well for your family! The price per slice does look different when you frame it that way, but what's on that plate is genuinely closer to a patisserie than a supermarket cake.
We really hope you'll give us another chance for a special occasion. The taste clearly spoke for itself and we'd love the full experience to feel worth every penny next time. We're always here at hello@cutterandsquidge.com if you'd like a chat about what might work best for you!
Rip off - Wrong product sent - Tiny
the cupcakes were a gift for mother in law. They are embarrassingly tiny! Also, the specific flavours i ordered weren't the ones we recieved. 3 of them had nuts on and i live with my wife who has anaphylaxis reaction to nuts!!! Total rip off/scam. I got home from work all excited to here what my mother in law thought of the gift and she awckwardly had to explain and i knew straight away that she was disspointed. She said, if you paid more than £8 for them you need to complain. THat plus the huge risk to my wife from nuts and which was a result of not being sent what i ordered, is the reason for the complaint. I hope i get money back!!!

We want to address the allergy concern first because nothing else matters more than that. We're really relieved to hear your wife wasn't harmed. All of our allergen information including nuts is listed clearly on every product page, and our cupcake boxes include nut flavours which are detailed in the product description and ingredients. We also state clearly on our website that due to the nature of our kitchen there is a risk of cross contamination across all of our products. We'd always urge anyone with a serious allergy in their household to check the full allergen information on the product page before ordering, and we're sorry if that wasn't prominent enough at the point of purchase.
On the flavours, both of our cupcake boxes contain a selection of flavours as described on the product page rather than individually chosen flavours, so the box your mother in law received was correct. We're sorry if that wasn't as clear as it should have been when ordering.
On the size, our cupcakes are approximately 1 inch high and this is shown in the product images and description. We completely understand they're smaller than a standard cupcake and that can feel surprising if you weren't expecting it. They're individually handcrafted with no artificial ingredients which is reflected in both the size and the price.

We did consider putting a warning on the packaging but honestly we weren't sure "dangerously good" would put anyone off. It seems we were right.
Your relapse is entirely our fault and we accept full responsibility. The bulk buying idea is, objectively, a very sensible plan and we fully support it. As for the willpower option... we've heard that's a thing some people have. We wouldn't know.

Avoid! Did not deliver as promised.
Awful. Didn't deliver birthday gift on time as promised, then provided almost amusingly poor customer service - provision of irrelevant and disinterested responses. The offer of a remedy - replacement - was clearly not sensible. A birthday cake delivered on a birthday is a very different experience to a piece of cake on a random Tuesday. It's the last time for me.

Rejected gift card
I ordered using a gift card , which was accepted and deducted from the total. When I received the confirmation invoice it showed the whole amount, without taking the gift card into account. There was an option to correct for a 'forgotten' gift card but when I tried to do this it said the card was not valid. I cancelled the order. I have no idea how to use the gift card and conclude that this is a scam.

Just received the most amazing cake from cutter & squidge for my son’s 14th birthday . I ordered the chocolate fudge cake and it was the most sumptuous, gooiest and delicious cake I’ve have tasted for a long time . Fabulous service and delivery couldn’t fault at all . DELICIOUS CAKE

On the day we took the cardboard sleeve off it whilst it was still chilled and then left it out for about 4 hours at room temperature. We ordered the Chocolate Fudge Caramel Cake and it was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Would use this company again and would buy this particular cake again.

Publicly embarrassed.
My kids bought me a birthday cake from this company. My celebration was held at a public event where 2 other people had birthdays also. Yes the cake was absolutely delicious and could not be negatively criticised in any way taste wise but I have never felt so embarrassed in my life. Whilst other people's huge cakes were brought out to them, I shrunk with embarrassment when mine was carried out and I saw the size of it. It was absolutely tiny and I felt so humiliated. There are expensive prices and then there is extortion. My cake was only big enough for two people. It was absolutely tiny and my kids had paid nearly 30 pound for it. I don't know how they are succeeding in business selling such tiny cakes for such exorbitant prices.

We want to be transparent here — our cakes are individually handcrafted in small batches with premium ingredients, and they're designed to serve a smaller number of people than a traditional celebration cake. The serving sizes and dimensions are listed on each product page, and we'd always recommend checking those before ordering for a larger gathering — something we clearly need to make much more prominent so moments like this don't happen.

Ordered £40 worth of products
Ordered £40 worth of products for a birthday. I wasn’t too impressed with the brownies. As another review pointed out, the baked goods were very sweet and very industrial tasting. The flavours were very limited and it was actually difficult to tell which brownie we were eating; they all tasted like chocolate! The chocolate bark was incredibly disappointing, disgusting even. It tasted like cocoa butter and sugar. It’s supposed to be white chocolate and raspberry. It looks pretty but is very low quality. The mini cookies were underwhelming; the carrot cake version tastes more citrusy than anything and the jam on toast version is just buttery. Not bad but not worth the money. Finally, the best part of the haul was the tomato chutney! It’s extremely tasty but for £3.99 you don’t get your money’s worth. We finished it in 4 teaspoons. Overall, for £40 worth of goods, I feel a bit robbed.

We're really glad the tomato chutney was a hit — though we're sorry it disappeared quite so quickly! On everything else, taste is such a personal thing and we'd never dismiss feedback like this.
What we will say is that everything we make contains no artificial additives, preservatives or flavour enhancers — which means what you're tasting in every brownie, every piece of bark and every cookie is exactly what went into it. Real chocolate, real butter, real fruit. For some people that's revelatory, for others it tastes different to what they're used to — and that's completely okay.
On the chocolate bark specifically — white chocolate by nature is predominantly cocoa butter and sugar, and ours is no different. The raspberry is there, but it's a delicate note rather than an artificial burst of flavour. We're sorry it didn't land for you.

Very disappointing experience
I ordered a birthday cake from Cutter & Squidge and unfortunately the entire experience was extremely disappointing.
The delivery (handled by DPD) was unacceptable. The driver left the box on the floor outside my building, in a place where anyone could have taken it. Even worse, it was left directly on the ground in an area where dogs regularly urinate. This is completely inappropriate for a package clearly labelled as containing food. The driver didn’t even attempt to ring the doorbell, despite me leaving clear instructions that I was home and available to let them in.
I contacted Cutter & Squidge immediately. Within seconds, I received what was clearly an automated AI response saying my complaint would be escalated. When a human eventually replied, they apologised but did nothing meaningful to resolve the issue. The only “compensation” offered was £5 off a future order, which I will not be placing. This is even less than the 15% discount already offered in the package, so it feels more like an attempt to get me to spend more money rather than a genuine apology.
As for the products themselves, the cake and cookies were very underwhelming, overly sweet, quite industrial in taste, and nothing special. On top of that, the birthday message I had included was cut off, with the final sentence missing, which ruined the personal touch.
Overall, a very poor experience from start to finish. I would not recommend ordering from this company.

On the delivery — we completely understand why seeing a food parcel left on the ground like that was so upsetting. What's important to know is that the outer box is a shipping layer designed to be discarded — every product inside is individually packaged and sealed, so the contents were completely protected and unaffected. That said, the driver absolutely should have rung your doorbell when you'd left clear instructions that you were home, and we'll be raising that with DPD directly.
The automated response and the follow-up that didn't meaningfully resolve things — that's on us, and we're sorry. You deserved a proper conversation, not a template. And we hear you on the £5 — we can see why that felt like an afterthought rather than a genuine gesture, and we're sorry it landed that way.
On the birthday message being cut off — we have maximum character limit for our gift messages and we're sorry the personal touch you'd put into the order was lost.
On the taste — we're sorry it didn't hit the spot for you. Our products are made fresh with no artificial additives or preservatives, and we're proud of that — but taste is personal, and we genuinely value the feedback.

If I could leave a no-stars review I would. I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter to be delivered to her in Cambridge. The website defaulted to my billing address and there was apparently no way of changing it. The people at C and S could not gave been less helpful. The cake will now be delivered to an empty house and my daughter won’t get her birthday cake. For shame. Disgusting service.
The cake has just been delivered to an empty house as I can see from the DPD photo sent to my phone. Although I gave 2 alternative addresses to deliver to if we weren’t in, no attempt was made to deliver to either of them. A cheesecake, left in the sun in front of our front door!!! Words fail me.
With regard to their claim (below) that I didn’t alert them to the error on their order form until the cake was ready for dispatch - this is completely untrue. As soon as I received the confirmation of the order I emailed C&S - it was a matter of seconds since I’d put in the order. They emailed back to say they noted the correction of the delivery address - this 3 days before the cake was due to be delivered. They made no attempt to correct the delivery details.
As it is, C&S have given me a refund for which I am grateful but my daughter didn’t get a birthday cake.

We completely understand how upsetting this was — your daughter's birthday cake not arriving as expected is genuinely the last thing we ever want to happen, and we're so sorry the day was affected.
We do want to gently explain what happened. The delivery address is confirmed in the original order confirmation email, and you didn't notify us of the error until after order has been dispatched with DPD so we were unfortunately unable to make any changes to your delivery address — that's a carrier limitation outside our control rather than an unwillingness to help.
Although the address error wasn't something we were responsible for, we issued a full refund as a gesture of goodwill because your experience mattered more to us than the technicalities. We hope that goes some way towards making things right.
On the cake being left in the sun — we completely understand why that looked alarming, and we want to reassure you properly. Firstly, it's worth knowing that despite the name, this is a cake designed to taste like a cheesecake — it isn't an actual dairy cheesecake. Our packaging is also specially developed with ice packs specifically to keep everything safe during transit and on the doorstep, and every product is lab tested to remain safe at ambient temperature for up to five days. Your cake was never at risk, even in the sun.

Lovely Eid gift for my family. I’ve purchased a few times from Cutter as gifts for others; the biskies, biscuits and nuts. Everytime the recipient was super chuffed. Lovely packaging and arrived as scheduled. Everytime you purchase you also accumulate points that you can use as money off for your next purchase. Would definitely buy again.

Great Mother’s Day gift box!
These kind of packages always seem a bit overpriced since you’re paying for the selection and presentation rather than the sum of the contents. That said, this was a beautiful package that was really well received for Mother’s Day, and actually quite decent value even laying aside what was a beautiful box and packaging. Will have to remember this for next year!

Great taste, value for money
Have been a customer for over 5 years now and have never had a bad experience. Everything they make is next level and it’s all natural. My personal favorite is the raspberry ripple cake, but as I said I have not been disappointed by anything they make.
