Very disappointing experience with Croner-i VIP Advisory Service.
Further to my previous feedback . I want to add further.
We were already using Taxwise/Croner-i’s insured advisory service when Croner approached us and sold us VIP as a premium service providing specialist technical expertise.

Unfortunately, we experienced several occasions where advice was inadequate or inconclusive. Most notably, a straightforward query was quoted as 8 hours of consultancy, but was subsequently resolved in approximately 5 minutes. Croner’s Directors Office has now acknowledged that we were overquoted and described this as an “error in judgement”.

There were also problems with TOMS VAT advice. We were told Croner does not currently advise on TOMS because it is complex and frequently changing, despite VIP being sold as a specialist technical service.

I submitted a formal complaint on 6 July 2026. After months of follow-ups, Croner has acknowledged that the complaint was not dealt with properly or within a reasonable timeframe.

Even more concerning, on 23 September 2026, I had 14 hours of paid consultancy credit remaining and requested assistance on two matters (RE26/78647 and 26/78646). I was told there was a 17-day waiting period because the VIP team was too busy.

Croner has offered three months of free service, which I have declined. I am seeking a full refund, as I do not want additional months of a service I have lost confidence in.

Croner accepts some shortcomings but does not accept my wider concerns about the quality and accessibility of the VIP service. The matter remains unresolved.

I would strongly recommend anyone considering VIP carefully establish exactly what technical areas are covered, how consultancy hours are allocated, and what response times they can realistically expect.

I can’t recommend James Eason highly enough. He supported my company through a long-running HMRC tax dispute, taking the time to really understand both the technical detail and the circumstances of the case. James was knowledgeable, pragmatic and reassuring throughout, and put together a strong case - ultimately achieving a great result, with HMRC overturning their original decision and closing the case entirely. The company is a trap, despite my instruction to stop auto renewal of my contract, they auto-renewed it for another 5 year term and now I am struggling to come out of their trap. There are much better value and ethical providers in the market.

The company of this scale has power to crush with legal traps. It's clear from their behaviour that they have no business ethics, no respect to trading standards. An ethical company wouldn't try to keep taking money from customer who is not happy and wants to come out of the contract. They value money over everything.

First class service, from initial enquiry , demo, to follow up and to Amelia's implementation run through. Engaging and friendly team members and most importantly knowledgeable, professional and helpful.

I have been dealing with Natalie Harman of Claims department at Croner, as recent as yesterday, she is always professional and efficient in dealing with any matter.

The advisor was very helpful and professional. Was able to guide us around the system and answer our questions.

While no HMRC enquiry is appreciated, knowing there is support from Croner-i and Natalie, on Claims, is invaluable.

Croneri are sending me unsolicited spam sales emails with no unsubscribe link. If you're going to send unsolicited spam emails at least have an unsubscribe link.

James was exceptional from the moment I began working with him. Smart, efficient, understanding. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
