I had my cooker hood brake down and it…
I had my cooker hood brake down and it was insured by cover-4-less. Initially when I reported this problem they tried to phone me up when I clearly stated that I am a vulnerable customer and not able to physically speak. All their communication was done in this way after about a week I finally got an appointment. They are now saying that it doesn't meet the terms it was insured under, and the extractor fan was used without the cooker hood filters which it hasn't been. As I'm not able to physically speak I feel I have been taken advantage of, they have no respect that I can't speak and keep calling me to communicate, I had to chase them up to find out what was happening with the fault. DO NOT USE COVER-4-LESS THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY THAT TAKES ADVANTAGE OF VULNERABLE PEOPLE. I WILL BE TSKING THIS CASE YO THE OMBUDSMAN

Regarding your cooker hood, our engineer's inspection found that it was heavily coated in grease and there was no filter present at the time of the visit. According to the manufacturer's instructions, regular maintenance, including the use of a filter and changing the filter regularly, is necessary to ensure the proper functioning of the appliance, as is the case with other appliances such as washing machine and tumble dryer filters for example.
Our policy does have an exclusion for items that are not maintained properly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. This is a standard clause in our policies and applies to all customers equally. It's in place to ensure that appliances are kept in good working order and to prevent avoidable breakdowns.
We understand that you believe the cooker hood was never used without a filter. However, the evidence from our engineer's visit suggests otherwise as there was no filter present when the engineer visited. The significant buildup of grease inside the unit indicates that it has either been operating without a filter, or if operated with a filter the filter was not changed frequently enough, which has unfortunately led to the units failure due to the build-up of a large amount of grease inside the unit.
We value your business however regret we were unable to meet your expectations on this occasion.
