Unable to access app or money when abroad. Whole experience has cost me £40 and lots of hassle to get any money back from it. Please do not use this card it is a complete waste of time.

Update to my initial review
Update to my initial review;
I was sent a flurry of emails from MC and CashPassport reps in the days following my complaints and initial review here, all telling me the same thing..."we are trying to resolve this issue" I replied to all of them, btw; professionally but not nicely.
I started with a balance of $247.50...now down to $242.00 today..."inactivity fees", apparently!
Needless to say, nothing has been done. Upon calling back on 17 August, I was greeted with a 12 minute hold, unintelligible English, and then cut off at the 16 minute mark. I called back, got a different rep with slightly better English, and was cut off once again. After both, I received a call from "Missouri"; no number, just "Missouri"
I'm curious...is the boiler room in Peterborough, or Missouri?
Anyway, in order to access my funds I was asked to "confirm the amount of a DECLINED transaction on 3 July" HUH? (As I only used this card on Ebay or at Starbucks, I told her to pick any completed purchase at those 2 companies and I'd confirm the amount...she demurred)
While processing this idiotic request, I noticed that my ENTIRE transaction history had been scrubbed on my login and card usage page (it still is, btw) Its the usual playbook: "keep 'em running in circles" & "keep 'em chasing their tails" by asking for a confirmation of the unconfirmable.
Unbelievably, I was then invited to drive to any local ATM, call back, and they would allow a "withdrawal" (!)
Needless to say, the next day my inbox was then littered with a few more emails stating that "repeated attempts have been made to contact you"...yeah, right.
These are not nice people, if anyone reading this was in any doubt.
But hey, if you want emails from 2 continents, 3 countries, and 4 time zones rationalizing why you can't have any of YOUR OWN money (while they continue to show your positive balance...and sit on it) then this is the card for you!
AVOID this product at all costs
AVOID this product at all costs. Initial marketing says the card will be delivered within 3 working days, once you start trying to open an account online this changes to '3-5 working days'. Only once you have loaded your cash into the account, do you receive an email that says 'up to 10 working days'. Also, you have to provide your address as it appears on the electoral roll, and there is no provision to note a second postal address, in the event you don't have Australia Post delivery to your address. I had 5 working days before I was going overseas, so I rang the call centre to get a progress update. I was told they have no way of tracking your card, and they won't assist you until it is overdue. Really?! The call centre operator couldn't tell me if it would be delivered by Australia Post or courier. Weeks later, I received an email to say my address was 'invalid' (it wasn't), and that the card had been returned. I didn't want to spoil my Canadian holiday so I waited until I returned to close the account, losing $200 AUD off my initial deposit of $2000 AUD. They don't tell you the exchange rate they use for your initial deposit, either. An absolute scam.
Awful
Awful, just gets declined everywhere. And customer service is horrendous when you try to call to resolve the issue.
Garbage 0 stars
Hands down the worse card ive had.Card didn't work on holiday in a restaurant the first time I used it i spent 2 hours on the phone with customer service trying to sort it out I was told there must be a glitch total garbage
Recommended by Tesco bureau de change
Recommended by Tesco bureau de change, sadly I feel ripped off. It wasn't made clear that the card had a minimum top up and putting £50 on would cost £98. Suffice to say I won't be topping up and will gladly pay to cancel...probably where they make most of their money! Avoid, is my advice.
I put £1000 on a cash passport card on…
I put £1000 on a cash passport card on the 29th May for my holiday in early June the money wasn't activated on the card til the 7th of June 9 days after I got the card and this I didn't know until I came back 2 days later the 9th June and because I was unaware of this I kept trying to use the card while abroad and when I got home I tried to claim the money back but was told because I had been trying to use the card while away it had been flagged up as fraudulent activity and I would have to talk to the people who own it who by the way have their offices in the USA cost a fortune trying to talk to them and I'm still no where near getting my money back
Anyone reading these reviews if offered a cash passport run for the hills it is con of the highest order
If I could award zero stars I would !!
If I could award zero stars I would !!
I have previous used cash passport without issue but this year there seems to have been a change in the app. I loaded more cash than required for our trip to give us a buffer, previously I have been able to transfer the excess back to my bank. It appears this option has been removed. I have sent multiple emails, all responded to with a 48 hour holding email, all of which have been subsequently ignored. I will not be using this company again and I would encourage others to avoid avoid avoid !!.
Have been able to load money as usual
Have been able to load money as usual, i did have an error the other day as with a few users on here however contacted customer service who raised case with techteam and in 2 days the £700 was loaded onto my card. Now fingers crossed it all works in the states
Our money loaded onto the account has disappeared and we have lost £600
We made a bank transfer onto our cash passport, which we’ve done successfully before. The £600 left our bank and did not appear onto the passport. After numerous calls to customer service it’s still not resolves and our money has disappeared into to ether. We go away tomorrow and are left with no spending money,
DO NOT USE THIS CARD
Awful customer service. You could be stranded with no money.
Just as another user has said. Tried to purchase new currency - continually get a "something went wrong try later" message. Money has been taken from my bank but not showing in my Cash Passport account. Cash passport says it's my bank. My bank is adamant its Cash Passport- and I believe my bank. Forget Cash Passport and just use your normal VISA while overseas.
Totally ripped off went to Tesco for…
Totally ripped off went to Tesco for travel money and after Holliday charged a fortune over £100 to get €488 back and Tesco travel money was worse they wanted £120 to convert it back into uk pounds be very aware that you’ll get ripped off if your going away do not get this card and Tesco advised me to but didn’t tell me how much it costs to get your money back totally disgusting
Customer Service is a sham
Used this in Australia. I'm from Canada and it says on any document you can find that an additional card is free - you CANNOT get one - false advertising.
Customer Service is absolutely horrible - they took forever to get back to me and basically wanted 50 pieces of information to move forward - then closed my claim.
I went to Canada Post to transfer money onto the card - that was free but to a max of $1,000. Zenwallet is useless because if you want to etransfer, you just go to your bank account and send the money. I went on Zenwallet once to get the contact and password to send the e-transfer. They charge you $3 and you can only transfer a max of $500. The first time it took about a day for the funds to show up on cashpassport but after that it was almost instantly.
Had no issues in using the card everywhere and anywhere - grocery, shopping, gas. Cannot use for deposits of anykind. Did not use an ATM.
See how long it takes for me to deal with Customer Service to close this card. Would not recommend.
Tesco cash passport
Tesco cash passport, no good they took my 91 canadian dollar not showing on statment, i m on phone for 30 min she is still calculating my statment.
Hays cash passport
Hays cash passport. Dont bother. Given 1 star as I cant give 0. Had problems with it in Vietnam. Trying to sort it out now back in the UK. The website just keeps going around in circles to the start of the login process. tried changing password and same again. Tried phoning. goes through various recorded options then cuts me off. I have £1 & US$1 on it. I think i'll cut my losses and write off as a very bad idea. I'll now look at a Revolut card
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT. i was going to give the card 2 stars as its been not too bad for basics (I've since changed to Wise which I've found beats this hands down w features & really easy to use) but the process of trying to cancel this card has been terrible! Firstly I tried to cancel it online. It requires two separate steps; cashing it out first but the online feature wasnt working. I called up and the staff were ABSOLUTELY hopeless (overseas call ctr). They promised to call me back when it was sorted but they didnt. I tried again and same thing. I then waited 3 weeks and it workd via the app only. Then you are required to phone up their card services to cancel the account. She the told me they couldnt do it for another day or two till the transfer from my cash out was completed. I have to call again!!! This has taken over a month. NEVER AGAIN!!
Rubbish rates and rubbish app
I feel like an idiot, for believing the guy in Tesco selling me this card. Totally taken in by his lies. Told him I use Revolut and he told me that this card is superior, better rates than Revolut and better app. Went I got home and compared the rates Cashpassport rates are no where near as good as Revolut. Do they think people won't check? Thank goodness I only loaded £50. As soon as I've spent it, it's going in the bin where it belongs.
Saga continues…
BEWARE - product is useless as you can’t ever reload it on the app or URL.
Same BS as other reviews note, although the latest is that it has suddenly stopped working when I’m in Australia. Perfect!
“Please call us to rectify”. To spend an hour on the phone with no solution. No thanks.
Customer service - non-existent
Product - woefully inadequate at best, not fit for purpose at worst
FCA - unbothered
These cash passports are rubbish
These cash passports are rubbish.
I took one to Australia. You can't reload them as your UK bank wants to contact you to certify the transaction. Uk phones don't work in Australia. A new Australian sim won't be recognised by your bank.
I tried scanning my bank card to top up,still doesn't work.
Total shambles.
Official complaint forwarded with a view to going to ombudsman.
Don't waste your time or money
Nothing but trouble
Nothing but trouble. Can't attempt to purchase new currency - continually get a "something went wrong try later" message. Cash passport says it's my bank. My bank is adamant its Cash Passport- and I believe my bank. Forget Cash Passport and just use your normal VISA while overseas.
