Have had no issues at all and the recent questions I have asked regarding the completion of the agreement have been answered quickly and thoroughly. Only reason I didn’t give 5* was because the contract hasn’t completed yet and the final payment is a sizeable amount.

Staff is not very friendly.

Extremely poor ongoing experience with CA Auto Finance.

I purchased a used Ford Focus through finance arranged with CA Auto Finance. Approximately six months into ownership, the vehicle developed a serious internal gearbox fault. Two independent inspections subsequently supported that the fault was an inherent/developing defect and not the result of misuse. CA ultimately accepted rejection of the vehicle.

Getting to that point, however, was unnecessarily difficult.

Throughout the process I had to repeatedly chase, provide evidence, arrange independent inspections and deal with a vehicle that was effectively unusable while continuing to meet the finance payments.

CA ultimately accepted that the vehicle should be rejected, but the proposed redress was heavily reduced by a 45p-per-mile usage deduction. I challenged this because the vehicle was only normally usable for approximately the first six months and subsequent mileage was substantially connected with diagnosis, inspection and investigation of the fault. That argument was ultimately rejected.

There was also a separate accident in which the stationary vehicle was damaged by a third party who accepted liability. CA proposed a further fixed £500 deduction for the damage, despite the damage being cosmetic and confined to one body panel. I provided photographs and repair estimates of approximately £250–£350 and asked CA to reconsider. They refused and stated that the £500 reflected their actual loss, without providing an actual repair assessment to substantiate that figure.

The most frustrating aspect was the feeling that standard deductions were being applied mechanically rather than the circumstances being considered individually.

CA did ultimately agree to take the vehicle back, reimburse the £195 independent inspection cost and, following the Ombudsman's view, pay £200 for distress and inconvenience. Those points should be acknowledged.

However, the overall experience was unnecessarily prolonged and stressful. A serious vehicle defect should not require months of correspondence, independent inspections and escalation simply to reach a position where the finance provider accepts that the vehicle should be rejected.

My experience was that CA was considerably more focused on limiting its financial exposure than achieving what I considered to be a proportionate and genuinely fair resolution.

It has now been over a month since the rejection was accepted and there is no indication of the vehicle being collected and finance agreement unwinded, and my credit file protected. I am still having to chase them up till today, with no response from them in over 2 weeks.

I would think very carefully before financing another vehicle through CA Auto Finance based on my experience.

I have spoken to a gentleman called Ganeev today and I would like to say how brilliant the service was that I have received. Thank you for all of your help.

I have been trying to return my car since August it’s now October. I have called 5 seperate times since July trying to arrange a hand back and have had the same conversation with 5 different people, the first time the conversation wasn’t even recorded on the notes so the next person didn’t have a clue what I was talking about, the second person said they have now contacted the pick up company so I waited 3 weeks and they never got in touch, the 3rd time they did it wrong and registered it as a drop off when I cannot get to the drop off point, then the next person never even registered the pick up even though they had sent me a confirmation in writing to confirm they had as I rang again last week and was told by another person that they hadn’t actually done it and that they will get this sorted for me ASAP. Still have had nobody contact me. Disgraceful will never use this company again. Had nothing but stress since July and stuck with this car and can’t get a new one until they collect it and I am now over my car milage as been waiting 8 weeks with no choice but to use the car. I Never write complaints or reviews so that’s saying something!!

Vish was an incredible representative who was highly knowledgeable and extremely helpful throughout the process. He gave me a much better understanding of my arrangement with the company and explained everything more clearly than I had previously experienced, including through the FOS.
