Burns night at the Adamton Hotel
Burns night at the Adamton Hotel
We went on the trip to Adamton country house for Burns night. We were firstly surprised as the photo seen looks like a country house. There is but you only get to walk through it to get to the bar. Rooms and restaurant are modern additions.
The ‘Garden Room’ (restaurant) has all the appeal and atmosphere of a work canteen. Service is one person checking room numbers on entry and clearing tables. No one in service area, which was self service of very unappetising, cool food. The food was repetitive and often rehashed from the night before. Burns night we did have table cloths and themed centre pieces, which made the room feel nicer, but these were whipped off the table, as soon as we’d finished some before! Canteen back for the evening entertainment. I did ask to keep it but told I couldn’t because the manager had said. ☹️
On the plus side, the room was warm, in fact too warm. The bathroom was modern with very nice fittings and hot water. However others complained of cold room and cold water, so it might depend what side the corridor you were on.
Burns night itself: The traditional piping in the haggis and the poem and dagger were all there. Haggis tatties and neeps also. Slightly more atmosphere, until we got the canteen tables back. There was also an extra, different dessert, unfortunately not enough for everyone by the time I got there.

Britannia Hotel, Manchester
I had a good stay at Britannia Hotel, Manchester, an historic and impressive building, located in the centre of the city a short walk from Piccadilly rail station. My non-window room was comfortable, spacious and had a bath in the bathroom. Staff were helpful when I had to return to pick up my suitcase. Good value. No complaints
The Austin Ex-Apprentices Association…
The Austin Ex-Apprentices Association once again held their annual reunion dinner event at the Bromsgrove Hotel and Spa, which is part of the Elite Venue Selection. This, our 91st reunion was a total success, and in fact one of our most enjoyable events to date. The staff worked so hard and gave us "service with a smile" from start to finish. The dining experience was exemplary both in quality and service. Their senior staffs organising skills and advice, both prior, during and after the event was much appreciated, The excellent overnight accommodation and substantial breakfast rounded off a most memorable event. May I take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to all involved.
Great Value For Money at Britannia Newcastle Airport
Always stop here, leave the car and stroll over to the airport.
We have never had a problem when staying here, often helped by the lovely Becca on reception.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
What people need to understand is that £105 for the 8 day fly and stay is excellent value for money.
Thank you
Tony & Kath Thornton
Tried to make a booking at the…Never again
Tried to make a booking at the Seacroft, Leeds hotel but found out that it’s being used for illegal immigrants!!!! So I therefore won’t ever use this hotel chain ever again!!!!! Appalling!!!!!
Two rooms signed off as checked, both had plumbing issues!
As far as I know, I have only ever knowingly stayed in one Britania Hotel in my life and that was on the 13th December 2025 at the Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone. Knowing the town very well, I knew it had a bad reputaion and one of my cousins stayed here for one night several years ago, and he didn't have a good experience. Anyway, I thought I would take a risk as it was for only one night and they do except dogs, although I paid £20 for my two to be in the room for only about 9 hours to sleep on the floor and they left no mess or didn't cause any damage.
I got back to the hotel late after meeting friends for Christmas celebrations, only to find that they was no water at all coming out of the hot water taps in my ensuite. I went down to reception to report this. An engineer came up to my room, but was unable to fix this, so I had to move rooms at 1.30 am in the morning. So I didn't get to bed until getting on for 2 am.
In the morning when taking a shower I found the mixer tap in the bath would not stay in the shower position, so I had to force it to do so by tying a platic bag around the lever.
I went to reception to report this and complain about this and the issue with no hot water, causng me to have to move rooms at 1.30 am, and wanting to receive compensation for my inconvenience and delayed sleep. I was told that complaints must be made in writing to the Customer Services email address.
I sent my compaint once I was back home. I received an apology, but the only compensation was a gesture of goodwill offer of an free upgrade to a balcony room if I should choose to stay with them again, but only if I booked directly with them, and not via Hotels or Booking, com, so I would probably pay a highher price. Also, they assume that after my bad experience, that I would want to stay with them again to benefit from a room upgrade.
Ten days ago I emailed back rejecting the offer and stated that I had expected a small reasonable refund of £15, and not a voucher or credit note. This request has been totally ignored.
There was also issues with the the parking, which you have to pay for. It took me ages to find one last parking space, which was arkward to get into. I read on previous reviews that guests paid for parking, left the car park, and when they returned, no spaces were available. Luckily when I parked, I didn't need to go anywhere until I checked out the following morning.
Apart from the issues with the plumbing in both of the rooms, both were actually nicely furnished and seemed to be clean, which I must admit was a pleasant surpise, especially considering the hotels poor reputation, so for that reason I have given them two stars. I did not try the all you can eat breakfast, because dogs are not allowed in the retaurant and must not be left in the bedrooms unattended, so I cannot rate the quality of the food. .
COLD HOTEL WITH NO HEATING
I booked a suite at the meon valley hotel & country club in october, the room was freezing cold so I asked at reception what at the problem was to be told the heating would not be switched on till later in the year.We were offered an extra blanket. My Wife and I slept in Our clothes to keep warm.the staff wore winter jackets using the sleeves as gloves and wooly hats.PLEASE,PLEASE CHECK BEFORE BOOKING THAT THE HOTEL WILL BE HEATED.Britannia Hotels have turned the hospitality sector back to the 18th century and wish I had checked the reviews before booking .
Booked online through there website and…
Booked online through there website and receptionist asked if we had a booking so I showed email confirmation stood there like a lemon till she eventually found it, sent to wrong floor as the suite wax 3rd floor, went for drinks at the bar and had to clean our own table from old food and drinks as the staff was minimal, not the best experience at Hollings Hall Shipley.
Awful and overpriced.
Among the worst hotel experiences I’ve endured in over 30 years of travel. The so-called “twin executive” room at the Manchester Britannia was dated and uninviting. The single-glazed window overlooking one of the busiest streets in the city centre wouldn’t close properly but neither would it open for ventilation. Check-in was more like military registration, with notices demanding photo ID (on pain of refusal of entry) that wasn’t mentioned in the booking confirmation. Re-entry at night was subject to showing the key card to a rude security guard. There was no room service and, far worse, not even the option of room cleaning. Most or some of this would have been excusable if I hadn’t been charged over £160 per night without breakfast. Never again.
I booked into room 105 at the Prince of…
I booked into room 105 at the Prince of wales southport.
The room was atrocious there was 3 wide cracks in the walls, 1 in the bathroom 2 in the bedroom that let cold air in. The bed was lumpy and the cover barely covered the bed.
The floor was uneven and the wardrobe was screwed to the wall to stop it falling over.
We had less than 2 hours sleep.
We complained to the reception the day after and all they offered was free parking.
When we complained via revolver they said the receptionist offered us different room when we booked in. A lie as we didnt inform them until the following day, then offered us 25% off any stay.
When we pointed out there error and lie refused refund of any type because we stay in the room overnight.
An absolute disgrace of a company.
We made a booking via booking dot com, which was advertised as Free Cancellation up to the day before arrival. Two days before however, they sent an email informing us we ‘MUST’ check in online via their website, so that’s what I did. Unfortunately the next day my partner became ill and we had to cancel. I cancelled the booking on booking for com and got charged for the first night, which I expected. We then didn’t receive a refund for the remainder of the booking! After contacting them, they informed me that because we’d used their online check in function, we wouldn’t receive a refund. So we were charged an extra £42 as well as the original full booking cost. After phoning them, the receptionist said she’d pass it on to management and try and get our £42 back - not good enough! We’ve stayed with Britannia dozens of times and always excused their other issues most of which are well known, because we like their old buildings and locations. And despite the horrific way they’re managed, we’ve always found their stuff to be decent. Overworked and underpaid no doubt but decent. We’ll never stay with this deceitful excuse for a company again!
I’d give it zero stars if I could, after basically being ripped off

Well what can I say the hotel is in drug/piss ally. No parking at this hotel
Staying for 4 nights with hubby .
On entering, the hotel looks fantastic, although reception toilet out of order and still was when we left.
But after getting to our room all went down hill ,grubby carpet, stained chair (blood)mould on bathroom ceiling .
After reading the note on wall about there is complimentary water, biscuits and robes in room .no sign of them .
I must say the bathroom looked liked it had been recently renovated, nice hand-wash dispenser (empty) shower gel dispenser (empty).Be careful of slipping in shower . No bulb in lamp in room
A note in reception says to tell them if they want room cleaned let them know before 10 in morning ( I wasn't planning on be out by then) so I asked the night before , wanting to make sure the message was passed on I mentioned when we went out at 11 ish the next morning but they knew nothing about it but said they would sort it ,got back, no housekeeper had been ,so back down to reception where I was told housekeeping had left and it would be done next day ,so I asked for toilet rolls, clean towels ,coffee, milk sachets and for bin to be emptied. Was told to leave rubbish outside door .(was collected at 1 in the morning i only know this as it woke us up chucking our wine bottles in a bag)
A member of staff brought it all up 2 toilet rolls✔️ 9 sachets of coffee 2 milk lol 6 hand towels no bath towels .
Next day we went out returned at 4 no room cleaned ,I said no more to them as we were leaving next morning ( check out is 10 🤔)
Went back out at 4.30 came home and room had been cleaned honestly couldn't make this crap up .
We were on the 9th floor only 1 Lift working .so waiting ages every morning to get lift as it kept stopping for people in lower floors the retuning to ground floor.
I cannot comment on bar or restaurant as we did not visit.
The staff were polite but spent most of the time out the back chatting
This hotel is a complete scam. They never mentioned the city tax during booking or check-in, and only demanded extra money after my stay. That’s not just bad service — that’s straight-up dishonest.

When I asked why this wasn’t disclosed earlier, they acted like it’s my fault for not knowing. Absolutely ridiculous. I’ve stayed all over Italy and never been blindsided like this before.
If you value transparency and respect, avoid this place. I’m reporting this as fraud.
0/10 experience — Britannia Hotel Rome is not trustworthy.
Stay away unless you’re on a super tight budget
Stayed at Coventry. Without doubt the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Totally neglected dive of a place to stay. Utterly rundown and in need of total refurbishment. Filthy place, carpets full of chewing gum, lifts knackered, buttons missing or broken, bathroom about 30yrs old, totally dilapidated. Rude receptionist, no manners, tried to charge me £196 on arrival despite me having already paid via booking.com, no apology, just shoved the card reader towards me and then behaved as though it was my fault! My room door will not lock. I shall not be staying here ever again. Pleased I did not add breakfast on, god only knows the state of their kitchen if the rest of the hotel is representative of how they manage things.
CAR PARKING FINE HIRED VENUE
I hired a conference room at the Adelphi Hotel and car parking is included for employees/staff of the hiring business. I provided the car registration number at reception who confirmed it would be sorted.
A parking fine was received few days later.
No contact available at the hotel, telephone ringing out at reception.
Safe to say I won’t be hiring conference rooms again from Britannia Hotels Group.
PLEASE BE AWARE COMPANIES LOOKING TO HIRE VENUES. DO NOT USE BRITANNIA GROUP.
Cold, Dusty & dirty room in Britannia Coventry
We went to Britannia hotel Royal Court Hotel Tamworth Road, Keresley, Coventry, CV7 8JG, United Kingdom. We occupied room 248 3rd floor from Thursday 23 to Saturday 25th October 2025. The temperature was 5*C and the room doesn’t have a functioning heater. We notified the reception that night and nobody helped till Friday morning. They sent an unqualified person to look at it, and he wasn't able to help. They promised to send us an electric heater but never despite our persistence in telling them the room was freezing. They never sent a heater and nobody cared about us.
The carpet was dirty and the wall was dusty, the bathroom smells mould.
This is an hotel to avoid this winter if you do not want to die.
Thanks
Britania hotel Coventry
Usual for a hotel to ask for ID when checking in without any prior notice in their email communications.
The room was really outdated and bed sheets smelled.
It was a nightmare experience.
Their customer service didn't even bother answering my email.
Absolutely disgusting customer service
Absolutely disgusting customer service. I have twice contacted the hotel regarding the complaint I have and STILL no one has had the decency to come back to me. They are not interested in their guests whatsoever. Staff at desk are unbelievably rude and unhelpful. They actually go out of their way to be as awkward as possible. This place needs to be closed down. The managers need sacking as you get Absolutely nowhere when you try to complain. Just ignored from booking onwards
