Hotel charged me for a booking mistake

I made a mistake with booking and realized it when the confirmation arrived. I immediately called the central number to “manage your reservation” and was told that to cancel it they would charge me one night (of two). This is about as customer unfriendly as one can get. I will not stay with them again.

Wrongful debit and refusal to refund

I made a reservation for Holiday Inn Express Munich City East in December 2022. I cancelled and got a confirmation email to that effect in March 2023. The hotel deducted more than $10,000 from my credit card even though the terms and conditions for cancellation were clearly stated in the reservation and cancellation emails and I made the cancellation before the date and time stipulated. I have been asking for a refund since and more than 3 years later IHG has refused to treat my complaint as priority and refund my money. I got about $3000 back in May 2023 but I have been given the run around since. I made more complaints this month and despite agreeing to refund the hotel has gone quiet again.
Is this a normal thing with IHG?? I am deeply disgusted

2 days ago i stayed at the Holiday Inn…

2 days ago i stayed at the Holiday Inn express in Cardiff Bay for two nights, booked through Booking.com . I requested an early check-in, as I was traveling with my children, one of whom is autistic. When I arrived, I called the hotel, explained my situation, but was told I couldn't check in until 3 p.m. I reached out to the central Holiday Inn booking line in South Wales, who confirmed the room was available—if I paid an extra £109. I found this completely unreasonable, so I declined and waited in the car with my children .
Beyond that, the hotel staff were unhelpful, especially for families. The breakfast was disappointing: the croissant was cold, the hash browns were greasy and burnt, and there was no still water  , no vending machine  to buy drink or water.  water i could buy was tiny small 150m for £150 .
Overall, I wouldn't recommend the Holiday Inn in Cardiff Bay for families. The staff were dismissive, and the experience was far from satisfactory. Perhaps others have had better luck, but I felt ignored, and it was a poor stay overall.

Ok but staff not

Holiday Inn Ramsgate - Arrived at 5pm staff having wonderful conversation behind the desk. Took them 10mins to recognise me even though they was 5ft away. Check in easy. Room key kept resetting everyday so I literally walked from the room right at the far end to check in and back every day. Restaurant food was actually very nice but expensive. Breakfast was good bar coffee as the water is REALLY hard. I would stay again but only if I was there. The hotel was clean and comfortable it’s the staff that let it down and workers in reception who clearly have been staying for a while because staff found it amusing when the workers were shouting and swearing probably the reason the restaurant was empty

An appalling in reception Kim with attitude

An appalling attitude by front reception by the name of Kim to check the booking to connect my son on an urgent basis was made worse by the attitude from Kim the reception handling my call insisting no booking was made .
Instead she’s was rude and kept telling me no reservation with no assistance to provide or cross checking attempts to find the booking number was impossible as I was on a panic to reach my son who was not answering,Kim did not made any attempt when I requested the manager to request a better understanding of how serious these matter as Kim the receptionist was on par or even credible to be assisting guest hotel.

Disappointing

Holiday Inn Express Northhampton-South is a clean organized hotel except. Drinks are expensive, a glass of Wine and a Vodka and Cranberry is £22. The beds are extremely hard to sleep on, it would softer sleeping on a Granite slab. Large hotels skimp on the smallest of amenities like cheap trash liners which are too small for the bin. They only supply 2 milk tubes for coffee in the room. Which hardly discolored the coffee.

Hauppauge New York Holiday inn Express does not follow any rules of IHG

The hauppauge New York Holiday inn Express has a two-week rule I want everybody to know that is working here from out of town or waiting for a home to be built that you might want to choose someplace else now the fact is nobody even they'll tell you to go to an extended stay cuz they're not one but the truth is nobody's going to let you stay past 29 days without checking out because of the New York tenancy laws but only a douchebag company would not let you stay past 2 weeks when you could go to 24 or 28 days. The inconsistency in pricing the inconsistency in behavior and the bipolar skinny white woman needs to be let go

Holiday Inn Express Bicester

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Bicester on Saturday, 21st March 2026, and had a very pleasant experience overall.
The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-organised, with everything I needed for a short stay. The room was tidy, quiet, and provided a good night’s sleep.
What really stood out, however, was the exceptional service from the receptionist, Corina. She was absolutely superb — friendly, professional, and very welcoming from the moment I arrived. She made the check-in process smooth and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect during my stay.
Customer service like this truly makes a difference, and Corina is a great asset to the hotel.
I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

Serious Hygiene Concerns – Developed Skin Condition After Stay

I stayed at Holiday Inn Express Barcelona City 22@ for 4 nights in early March, and I deeply regret choosing this hotel.

After my stay, I started developing spots all over my body, which kept spreading over the following days. It got bad enough that I had to see a doctor, and I am now on medication and using cream to stop the itching.

This is completely unacceptable and strongly suggests serious hygiene issues. No guest should leave a hotel needing medical treatment.

I would strongly advise others to avoid staying here until these issues are properly addressed.

ev charging promised not delivered

Hotel is ok and staff really good. but
they advertise prominently EV charging, but ev point taken by people plugged in but finished charging, for hours overnight, and they say nothing they can do about this.
In effect there is NO ev charging .

Exceptional Stay

Exceptional Stay!
I had a wonderful time at the Holiday Inn Express Rotterdam.
The location is perfect—literally minutes from the train station.
A huge thank you to all the staff,
for the warm welcome and smooth check-in.
My room was spotless and very quiet. Don’t miss the breakfast; the variety was great and the coffee was excellent.
Highly recommend for anyone visiting Rotterdam central.
March 2026.
It made my visit absolutely amazing.

Shit services

Nice room quiet place . I have sleep apnea now where to plug machine in ! Went to reception and told them to supply an extension lead or move me ! Leave it with me (famous last words) I got on a chat to them in the evening again they agreed it was not a good practice but still nothing.

Holiday Inn express in Litchfield

We had travelled a long way to litchfield to attend my nephews funeral. We were early so popped into the holiday inn express, litchfield for a cup of tea. We asked the barman if it was okay as we were not residents and he said it was fine. We now have a parking fine for £100 for parking in their carpark! I find this totally unnacceptable, we may not have been sleeping there but we were a guest. We spoke to the hotel and they refused to lift this ticket. I wonder how much money they make each year for charging people this. They said there are signs, but to be fair, if you go in a pub carpark, you dont expect to be charged if you go in for a drink, why should these be any different. Totally unfair and out fo order.

How can I get a refund for a room that has been paid for twice?

Last February 2025 I booked 2 rooms using my IHG account at the Holiday Inn Brighouse, Leeds, these rooms were paid for at this point. These rooms were for myself and my business partner. On arrival in May my business partner was charged again for her room, we didn't realise this until we were going through our accounts in September. Trying to get hold of anyone to get a refund has been impossible. The email address for bounces back and the phone number quoted on the receipt is not in use. I went on the IHG chat and explained this to them, but I haven't had much luck there either as they say contact the reception desk at Brighouse- I would if I could! A refund of £112.52 is due but I can't contact anyone?

Great stay, 1st class.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Excellent room, excellent breakfast, including many options for gluten free, and knowledgeable staff. All personnel were friendly and helpful. Felt the whole visit was a mini holiday. I came home but couldn’t find my kindle and on phoning Mr Clarke, he went the extra mile and thoroughly searched the room, without success. He tried to phone me back, but unable to get through, emailed my husband to let me know he was unable to find it. Embarrassingly it was found to have been absentmindedly put away by my
husband! Can’t commend the staff enough. Well done.

Rolstoelgebruikers niet echt welkom!!!

We waren met een grote groep collega's 1 nacht in Holiday Inn Express in Almere. Ik was samen met een collega en we deelden de kamer, daar is niks mis mee wanneer de kamer 2 bedden heeft. Omdat ik een rolstoelgebruiker ben, werd voor ons een rolstoel toegankelijke kamer geboekt door de organisatie. Die kamer heeft geen Twin- maar een Queen bed opstelling. Om die reden had men de slaapbank uitgeschoven om een 2e bed te creëren in de kamer, zodat ik niet samen in het smalle Queen bed hoefde te slapen. Daardoor was de badkamer niet meer bereikbaar, want er bleef nog maar zo'n 30 cm over tussen de 2 bedden om bij de badkamer te kunnen komen. De kamer kan dan dus niet meer als rolstoel toegankelijke kamer worden verkocht. In deze opstelling was er zelfs niet echt genoeg ruimte om veilig met de rolstoel in de kamer te zijn. Bij de receptie stuitten we om een wereld van onbegrip; "De kamer is toch rolstoeltoegankelijk? Wat is het probleem?"
Na veel argumenteren EN omdat ik niet AFHANKELIJK ben van de rolstoel en nog wel beperkt zonder kan, mochten we een standaard Twin kamer die feitelijk voor collega's was geboekt bekijken. Hier kon ik een veilige plek vinden om de rolstoel te parkeren en dan ook zelfstandig de badkamer te kunnen gebruiken. "Moeilijk, moeilijk, moeilijk", maar uiteindelijk kon de receptie worden overtuigd om die twee kamers te ruilen in de boeking en die twee andere collega's hebben de 'toegankelijke' kamer gekregen.
De organisatie betaalde 1,5x zoveel voor die (niet meer) rolstoeltoegankelijke kamer. Schandelijk dat je voor een Queen rolstoelkamer meer betaalt dan voor een standaard Queen. Blijkbaar wil men aan rolstoelgebruikers nog wat extra verdienen.
2 sterren omdat de rest wel ok was, maar niet meer dan dat!
Ontbijt niets bijzonders en de barprijzen .....DAAR wil men pas echt goed aan verdienen.

Easily the worst hotel I've ever stayed…

Easily the worst hotel I've ever stayed at...and we've stayed in 0 star hotels in India 😆. The location is incredibly unsafe. They're immediately advising you "don't walk out to the right" 😬. This city is dodgy, the state of some people 😬.
Never stayed at any accommodation in the world where I had to fear for my life, but America.
Now with regards to the holiday inn itself - it's where your dreams die and those of all staff. From reception, to housekeeping, to restaurant staff - they couldn't look any sader and unhappy if they tried. What are you doing to these poor people? A fake smile won't hide the depression either 🤷‍♀️. The room was as dark and sad as the staff's happiness, but worse yet was the "breakfast". Everything single item is wrapped in single use plastic - every - single - item?!! What is wrong with you?? You have a huge restaurant. You can do the dishes and reuse plates and cups, but instead you create mountains (!!!) of non-recyclable waste every day (!!!). This world is drowning in garbage, river, oceans and animals poisoned by garbage and you actively add to this and do the opposite of what you should be doing as a human being, but also as corporation?!!
You give your valuable guests plastic plates, plastic cutlery, plastic cups, plastic everything like it's a children's birthday party in the park, and then have huge garbage bins everywhere in the restaurant for people to see?? Absolutely appalling!!
The "food" itself gave me nightmares just looking at it - you serve only carbs, unhealthy fats and American dairy = diabetes and heart attack on a plate. Not a single item was eadible, coffee disgusting, no no-dairy alternatives, no fresh juice, no fresh fruit (the bucket of sugary fruit salad you buy by the litre doesn't count), nothing of any nutritious value at all. And this wasn't it yet, at 9am on the dot you have a big unhappy staff member chase all your "valuable" guests out of the breakfast room, clapping they hands loudy and screaming at everyone "get out!! breakfast is closed", then processing to push people out the door into the lobby. There's no other place to sit anywhere in this depressing place, nowhere where you can sit and socialise with your partner or family, just hush hush back to the room and stay there!!! You won't have seating for every guest, but we don't care! We can just about stand you until 9am and then get out of our faces. What a wonderful experience this was to come to Houston and your lovely hotel filled with so many happy faces and that amazing food of yours 😒😒😒😒 not... never again

Scam parking fines

My wife used the electric charging facility at the Folkestone Hotel she scanned the QR code as directed and then used the coffee shop whilst she waited .
She as now received a £60 parking ticket from a company called PARKMAVEN and reading the reviews for this company I am shocked that holiday inn have aligned themselves with this company at all !
My wife appealed the fine but although she as proof of payment her appeal was denied.
Please be very careful when choosing your hotel stay because holiday inn have chosen to align with this scam company and they seem to be operating with impunity.
Holiday inn you should be ashamed of yourselfs !!
