Better Yarborough Leisure Centre Lincoln
I’m very happy with the positive changes that Better have brought to Yarborough Leisure Centre Lincoln since it reopened in August 2025. Very clean and welcoming.
The reception staff are helpful and engaging. The classes are all good but limited which is understandable as better have had to build from zero and is now at over an as better have had to build from zero and is now at over 1000 members. I’m looking forward to a new timetable expected in January 2026 when hopefully there will be more day classes and variety. Instructors are mainly excellent. Keep up the good work and thank you.

Could do better
I’m pleased to see that since the changeover, a few positive improvements have been made at the centre—especially the new gym equipment and finally getting the steam room fixed. These upgrades are appreciated.
However, despite seeing some cleaning taking place (certainly more than when it was run by Active Nation), the overall standard of everyday cleanliness and hygiene is still not where it needs to be. Some areas have improved while others remain neglected, and cleaning often doesn’t feel thorough or consistent. For the price point—now double and in some cases treble the previous membership cost—members should expect a significantly higher standard, not just occasional surface-level improvements.
I hope management takes this seriously, as a clean environment is essential and should reflect the increased fees we’re now paying under Better.

The main changing rooms floors
The main changing rooms called the changing village isn’t kept clean especially the floors, it would be best to wipe the floor every hour to reduce the amount of standing water.
The underside of the seats in the steam room also need a good clean

Expensive
Pool much cooler than expected. Children would find it cold. Changing room floor flooded with water. Standing on a towel to get dried would be pointless. Some clothes hooks in changing rooms broken. Male showers have weedy spray, presumably to save money. Swimming charge expensive - probably 20% more than local heated outdoor pool (which was warmer). 'Better' app not easy to use. Customer service protected by electronic call avoidance system.

What a change for the better
What a change for the better! The most notable difference has been in the swimming pool changing rooms. They are always clean! All the lockers work. The steam room works and the sauna is always hot and they are on all day every day. Thanks to all the staff for making such an effort it has made a massive difference.
The gym has gotten an upgrade too, the new machinery works a treat and I have really enjoyed the techno gym app which made me a personalised work out and the e gym as well.
To get 5 stars a water fountain in the steam room and sauna area is needed. Also, a spinner to dry out your wet swimming costume would also be great.
Apart from that so glad I have rejoined. Keep up the work with cleaning because the difference is night and day. A big shout out to the staff because they really have made a big difference.

I have been very impressed by the helpfulness of the staff, and especially by the amount of lane swimming ehich is now available.
I had a gym induction with Ewan, I think, yesterday. He was incredibly patient and helpful.

Lovely leisure centre let down by customer service
This is a fantastic leisure centre; however, this review focuses solely on the customer service experience.
It’s been extremely difficult to contact Yarborough Leisure Centre directly. Every call is routed to a general customer service team who are unable to assist, and when they try to reach Yarborough themselves, they only reach voicemail.
I was given an email address for Yarborough, but after four days, I’ve still had no response. When I called the customer service team again, I was told to “go in person and check,” which is not a practical or helpful solution.

Great so far.
I had a tour round the venue before I rejoined and was impressed with the refurbishments and how clean everything was. I have done 1 class, Body Pump with Jamie-Lee which was excellent and I am looking forward to more additions to the timetable e.g Body Step. My only disappointment was the air conditioning in the studio which isn’t any different to the way it was previously. There are no more working A/C units and unless you stand under one of the units at the front you can’t feel it. Maybe this is something that could be addressed in the near future?

First time back at Yarborough since April 2025
First time back at Yarborough since Active Nation closed. Swimming 60+ Was very impressed with the refurbishment. Good to have lockers working again. Liked the additional steps into the pool to help as I often struggled to get out after my swim. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Went to gym for first time 23/9/25. Equally impressed with new machines. Generally impressed with Better. Good to be back.
