Having issues booking, visited this morning, met a nice gentleman in reception, Coulson I think.
He reset my password and helped me book my session.
Had a relaxing steam and swim this morning.
Will be back tomorrow.

I was really looking forward to this…
I was really looking forward to this gym, but having to pay 20p each time to use the locker is ridiculous after paying a monthly membership where everything should be included. I've never had to pay for a locker separately on top, I've either used my own padlock or had the coin returned when I return the band, for example the Kings Hall Better leisure centre in Hackney where I used to belong. The added cost and having to carry change each time I go to the gym, is a real pain point. I see all the lockers are open with peoples things inside each time I have visited, as they don't want to pay each time, I don't feel comfortable to do this as I feel I have to watch it over my shoulder. The changing room area is very small, with only two showers. Not a good place to go to the gym before work.

Men can only attend 3 sessions per week, while women can attend 7.
I signed up to improve my swimming, but after looking at the schedule I instantly canceled my membership.

Lock for lockers
Been going to Leyton and Leytonstone Better gyms on and off for a while. Both have swimming pools so good for most people to have a option. Only things I would change in Leyton bakers arms gym would be to get new equipment and machines because they have been there for a long while. I would change the lockers in the gym because you're not always going to have spare change with you would be better to have your own lock to lock them.

Impossible website, bad lessons, poor value
Let's start with the website which makes it so hard to book a kid's swimming class, I had to create a whole new account (despite being signed into the old account on a different browser). I gave up three times before actually managing it. This made the actual classes all the more disappointing — basically no instruction, the teacher just threw out floats to the kids and said to try them. The teacher also kept wandering off during the class and just leaving parents and kids to splash about with not much to go on — pretty sure they couldn't be a qualified swim teacher.
Cherry on top was that the staff also wouldn't allow a few 3 year old kids stay in the play pool with slides after the lesson was done, despite there only being 2 other people there as they said they were only permitted into the leisure centre for the half an hour lesson. So basically we're paying 45£ a month for 4 x 30min swim lessons with no instruction / teaching actually taking place. Cancellation notice period is also a month so they trap you as well as charging a joining fee.
Would not recommend. Have heard of other swimming lessons where pre school kids are able to swim to bottom of the pool etc — don't waste your money with Better lessons.
It's a pity because the training pool and other facilities are so lovely and great for kids.

We understand how frustrating it must have been to navigate the booking system, especially when you're already signed in and still required to create a new account.
Your feedback on this is incredibly valuable, and we’re actively working to improve the user experience on our website.
Regarding the swimming lessons, we’re very sorry they didn’t meet your expectations. What you described is certainly not the standard we aim to provide. All our instructors are expected to deliver structured, engaging, and safe lessons, and we take concerns about supervision and teaching quality very seriously. We’ll be investigating this further with the team at Leyton Leisure Centre.
As for the access to the play pool after lessons, we understand how disappointing that must have been for the children. While we do have policies in place for safety and scheduling, we’ll review how these are communicated and whether more flexibility can be offered in quieter periods.
We appreciate your comments about the facilities — it’s great to hear that you found them lovely and suitable for kids. We’re committed to making sure the experience matches the quality of the environment.

Better needs to tell customers in advance when they can't deliver what customer has booked
Due to staff absence when I arrived to attend the induction I had booked there was noone to deliver.
I understand staff absences are unavoidable but there MUST be a system to tell customers who have booked to save wasted journeys.
Not to have a system is completely unacceptable.

Annie was fantastic
Annie was fantastic, my son has been really reluctant to get in the pool and she has been incredibly patient and calm with him. Has made all the difference as we’ve already seen some progress just in two lessons. She is brilliant!

Just joined swimming lessons
Just joined swimming lessons for my son. He's liking the lessons so far. Staff are very helpful and polite. Changing rooms are clean and spacious as well as the showers nice and warm water.
