Bottom Line Up Front: Basements.com is unsafe, incompetent, and untrustworthy.
I've uploaded a few photos to other review sites from my recent experience having a drain system and concrete floor installed in my home. They tell much of the story.
If you want more details, contact me and I'll show you copies of all of the documentation.
Here are some of the quick highlights:
- The owner left me a voicemail that the job would take 3 to 4 days from a Wednesday to a Saturday, "soup to nuts." The job ended up taking more than 5 work days over a 9 day span. One reason why is because the job failed its first inspection because of a code deficiency.
- When I first raised the issues with the job, Basements.com said on Tuesday, March 9 they would fix all of the issues by Wednesday, March 17. Then on Wednesday, March 10, Basements.com said they would in fact not fix any of the damage (some of which is shown in the photos) and would file an insurance claim. When I said this was unacceptable, they offered to reduce the cost of the project by about 14% but only if I released them from any claims of damage and signed a nondisclosure agreement.
Please let my experience help you and your family make a better decision than going with this company.

I put down a deposit 35 days ago for an expensive project. I knew I would have to wait for permits before the work could be scheduled.
But apparently, Basements.com only applied for one permit and then had to apply for a second permit. That has delayed the start date.
It's been a week since I got the second permit, but no one has contacted me with a start date.
At the moment, it feels like I'm paying for nothing.

The work they performed was good but they did not finish and appears to have gone out of business. I read that they were insured by, Hanover Insurance but they can't help me unless I come up with the policy number, or the name they're listed under on Hanover's policy. Can anyone help.

Can anyone tell me how to get maintenance for a Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing system? I live in Scranton and have tried all Mid-Atlantic phone numbers, but they're disconnected. Would appreciate any suggestions.
TERRIBLE!! Have not returned my $5000 deposit since last Aug 2019
Does anyone know how to get in touch with the NJ office of this company now? They tried to sell me a system, only to find out from another contractor that I already HAD a system. And as if that wasnt bad enough, it was a Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing system!! So, one of their own. I gave them a $5000 deposit check before all of this came to light and they have still not returned my money...since Aug 2019!!! They did NO work and are still holding onto my deposit. Now I can't get in touch with anyone because all of the numbers are now turned off and the office is closed down and cleaned out. This used to be a very reputable company, I don't understand how things could have gotten this bad, STAY CLEAR OF THEM!!

My basement has not been dry since the work was done. They plugged a natural drain for the water that was coming in one side and going out the other. They put in 2 sump pumps that were not needed but run 24/7 now. I have water coming in the middle of the basement floor and it has no where to drain out therefore my so called waterproof basement is now wetter than ever. To add insult to injury all the telephone numbers I have are "Not in Service"!! I would like someone from some branch of this company to contact me.

NO WATER! For over 30 years I have been putting up with water in my basement, Not a lot but enough to be a pain in the back! NO MORE!!! I contacted mid-Atlantic via the south Jersey Home show in Voorhees and scheduled a date. A sales rep came onsite, surveyed the job, made suggestions, not jus one but multiple with valid options! No heavy pressure to sign but I felt completely comfortable through the entire process. We set a start date and sat back. The crew was on time, polite, did what they promised to do. cleaned up when finished and was all around helpful and pleasant.
It's been 6 months now and still NO WATER! It works!

I would have given a 5 but installation had some problems including a backward check valve and a discharge pipe whose longer run to drain was not adequately supported. I would suggest that Mid-Atlantic inspect work done by contractors to make sure it is done properly.

Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing does Superior Work!
Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing does superior work. They waterproofed our basement about 5 years ago. We have not had any water issues since they installed a second sump-pump pit and installed two sump pumps with a 7 year warranty on each. They also installed a battery backup sump pump unit for power outages. In addition they installed a new drainage system around the entire inside basement to facilitate draining to the sump pumps. We are very pleased with the contractor's work.
