While we want to give students plenty of choice, we also need to make it easy to focus on the accommodation that best matches what you’re looking for. Thank you for raising this, and we’re sorry for the frustration. Availability is provided and updated by the accommodation providers who advertise on AFS, so occasionally a property may have been booked before its listing is updated. We’re continually working with providers to improve the accuracy of availability and make the search experience better for students.
The greatest advantage of this website…
The greatest advantage of this website is how easy it is to send messages to apartments. It remembers all of your information so that you don't have to re-write it a million times and you don't need to create an account.

Thank you for raising this, and we completely understand how frustrating it must be to enquire about accommodation only to find it is no longer available. Availability is updated by the accommodation providers advertising on AFS, but we agree that students need the most accurate information possible, particularly during the busy Clearing period. We’re actively working to improve this and reduce the number of unavailable properties appearing in searches. We appreciate the feedback.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience. AFS connects students with accommodation providers, but we don’t take booking fees or manage the properties directly. That said, we absolutely understand how frustrating it must have been to pay a fee and then discover the property was already fully booked. If you contact our support team with the property details, we’d be happy to look into what happened and help where we can.
