I love that I can see everything I owe…

I love that I can see everything I owe and where I can save. I can keep myself in check when I know how much money I spent and where I spent it. I can achieve to lower my debt while paying off higher interest rates charge cards and using credit cards where they offer incentives like lower rates or points for hotel stays since I travel. Plus, I like knowing my credit score and what I need to do to raise it.

Wallet Hub didn’t Notice Multiple Logins

Wallet Hub didn’t notice multiple logins from other people into my account for several years. I finally got an alert from them in January 2025 from a login that happened in December 2022!
I contacted them and got a return email basically saying to check and make sure it wasn’t me logging in! I said I was sure I didn’t initiate the logins, which were from various cities across two states for several years, and asked them to close my account. I asked them twice!
They closed it and I thanked them but they still tried to blame me for what happened. They said that I had unsubscribed from alerts sometime in the past and that’s why I wasn’t alerted about the logins. If I did unsubscribe from them it’s because they were bombarding me with emails on a daily basis! But then if I did unsubscribe why did I get an alert from them in my regular email two years later?
I never wanted Wallet Hub to begin with and never felt safe with them. In this world of identity theft they should have a tighter reign on personal information.

Hi Susan! We sincerely apologize for any frustration or inconvenience this situation has caused. WalletHub takes security and user experience very seriously, and rest assured, the system is completely safe, utilizing 128-bit encryption and SSL—the same technologies used by FDIC-insured financial institutions. Regarding the email you forwarded, the WalletHub Help team found it was originally sent on December 21, 2022. Security alerts are automatically sent whenever suspicious activity is detected. If the email appeared later, delays in delivery may have occurred, especially if the inbox was cleared or the email address was marked as safe, which can result in older messages being delivered later than expected. If you did not receive previous alerts, it could be due to this or unsubscribing from notifications. Users can customize their notification preferences in the account settings to select which alerts they wish to receive. As for your request to delete your account, once your concern was addressed and you confirmed the account closure, the account was promptly removed.

Hi Anthony! We apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing. Please know that IP addresses can get blocked automatically by the security system for several reasons. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to determine which specific blocked IP address belongs to an individual unless they contact WalletHub Help via email. That said, please reach out to them at help@wallethub.com with your IP address so they can check why it was blocked.

WalletHub, more like WalletHuhuhYeahRight

I stumbled across WalletHub while looking to review a similar company. When I tried to “like” someone’s review of that company on WalletHub, WalletHub forced me into signing up for an account and pushed to get all kinds of personal info from me. I can understand my first/last name, maybe my email address, but my email, street address and cell phone all had to be verified by their system, and they require my DOB and last 4 digits of my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER! Who in their right mind would do this? This proves that either 1) none of the reviews on their site are legitimate, 2) suckers are born everyday, or 3) WalletHub is as bad or worse than the company I originally wanted to review. I *almost* closed the tab and went about the rest of my life, buuut, I decided to enter fake info for my wALlEtHuB aCoUnT so I could write this review. It is absolutely ridiculous and completely unnecessary to require THAT much personal info to leave a review or like someone else’s review.

Their not so fine print when you create an account: “I agree to WalletHub's Terms of Service & Privacy Policy and provide WalletHub written instructions…” (when did I provide these ‘written instructions?’) “…to exchange information about me with third parties…” (NO) “…as well as my consumer credit report and score…” (wait, what the what?!) “…in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other applicable laws, at any time as long as I have an active WalletHub account…” (so I can only like a review if I have an active account that requires me to share enough personal info to steal my identity?!) “… I authorize WalletHub to analyze and share this information in order to present me with personalized offers and advice…” (NO) “…and to retain a copy of my information for use in accordance with its Terms of Service & Privacy Policy…” (however WalletHub pleases) “…I understand that enrollment in this service is free and will not affect my credit…” (no thanks) “…I agree that WalletHub and its representatives may contact me via calls, emails and text messages at the email address and mobile phone number provided for marketing and informational purposes using an automatic dialing system or other technology…” (NO!) “…I understand that my consent to receive marketing communications is not required as a condition of any purchase…” (um, this is a LIE) “…and that I can opt out at any time...” (I don’t want to opt in NOW).

I didn’t bother reading the Terms and Conditions or Privacy Policy, but I’m sure it’s as wild as my experience thus far. The reason I’m writing this is in hopes that someone else will not get suckered into giving away their personal info or start receiving unsolicited calls and texts or have their identity stolen - bc I’ll bet that’s what will happen. If you need financial advice, call a financial advisor.

After I clicked to submit this review (all the above *on WalletHub’s site - not TrustPilot*), their system “checked my grammar for typos,” and generated a revised version of my review that minimized the details - with an option to use their review or mine. Guess whose I chose?

Since I was forced to provide my phone number for verification (even though I do not consent to any marketing and this was obviously done to as a ruse), I opted out. Ten seconds later, I receive an email from WalletHub that says I won’t receive credit alerts (they do not have my real address, DOB or SSN, so, how..?), gave info on how to re-enable texts, assumed I made a typo (made me lol), and demanded I immediately login to update my phone number for "security purposes." All bc I wanted to give someone a thumbs up on their review. If my identity gets stolen, I’ll know why.

Another WalletHub review on TrustPilot mentioned how WalletHub is scraping emails for spam (ding ding). WalletHub responded, “…every review must be linked to a WalletHub user profile. Your account must be attached to a valid email address that can be used to contact you...” If I’m giving a review on their site a big thumbs up and they only need my email to contact me “if needed,” why do they need to VERIFY my cell phone number and street address? Are they asking for my DOB to send me a birthday gift? Why do they need the last 4 digits of anyone’s SSN?? One guess…

EDIT - response to WalletHub's response:
I cannot edit my username without finalizing creation of my account by entering the last 4 digits of my SSN. When I added 4 random digits, their system prompted me to add my FULL SSN!!! Wow. "Protecting your identity is a top priority for us." No, it's not.

Hi there. We can assure you that creating a WalletHub account does not compromise your identity. Our system is completely safe, utilizing 128-bit encryption and SSL—the same technologies used by FDIC-insured financial institutions. We can also assure you that all reviews submitted on WalletHub are genuine and written by real users. To ensure review quality, every review must be linked to a user profile with a valid email address so we can notify you if a company responds. However, personal information was not required—a light account would have sufficed. After submitting your review, you have been prompted to log in or sign up. Upon entering your email address and password, you had the option to uncheck the “Get my free credit score & report” option and click the button to join. This process would have created a light account without requiring additional details. As for providing your phone number for verification, please note that a U.S. mobile number is required for two-factor authentication and optional credit updates, but light accounts do not need a phone number. Concerning your username, we want to emphasize that protecting your identity is a top priority for us. To clarify, you can still edit the "Public Info" section of your account without completing the full registration or filling in your full SSN. Once you are logged in, go to the Public Info section of your account here: https://wallethub.com/home/settings/public-info
Scroll down to the "Username" field, click "Edit," enter a username of your choice, and validate it by clicking the blue checkbox next to it. Then, click "Save" at the top of the page. You can also edit the "Name" field on the same page and save your changes. Lastly, our system checked your review for spelling, grammar, and profanity issues. The AI-generated edits are only a suggestion, and you can always choose to submit your original review as written.
