Wallet Hub didn’t Notice Multiple Logins
Wallet Hub didn’t notice multiple logins from other people into my account for several years. I finally got an alert from them in January 2025 from a login that happened in December 2022!
I contacted them and got a return email basically saying to check and make sure it wasn’t me logging in! I said I was sure I didn’t initiate the logins, which were from various cities across two states for several years, and asked them to close my account. I asked them twice!
They closed it and I thanked them but they still tried to blame me for what happened. They said that I had unsubscribed from alerts sometime in the past and that’s why I wasn’t alerted about the logins. If I did unsubscribe from them it’s because they were bombarding me with emails on a daily basis! But then if I did unsubscribe why did I get an alert from them in my regular email two years later?
I never wanted Wallet Hub to begin with and never felt safe with them. In this world of identity theft they should have a tighter reign on personal information.

WalletHub, more like WalletHuhuhYeahRight
I stumbled across WalletHub while looking to review a similar company. When I tried to “like” someone’s review of that company on WalletHub, WalletHub forced me into signing up for an account and pushed to get all kinds of personal info from me. I can understand my first/last name, maybe my email address, but my email, street address and cell phone all had to be verified by their system, and they require my DOB and last 4 digits of my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER! Who in their right mind would do this? This proves that either 1) none of the reviews on their site are legitimate, 2) suckers are born everyday, or 3) WalletHub is as bad or worse than the company I originally wanted to review. I *almost* closed the tab and went about the rest of my life, buuut, I decided to enter fake info for my wALlEtHuB aCoUnT so I could write this review. It is absolutely ridiculous and completely unnecessary to require THAT much personal info to leave a review or like someone else’s review.
Their not so fine print when you create an account: “I agree to WalletHub's Terms of Service & Privacy Policy and provide WalletHub written instructions…” (when did I provide these ‘written instructions?’) “…to exchange information about me with third parties…” (NO) “…as well as my consumer credit report and score…” (wait, what the what?!) “…in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other applicable laws, at any time as long as I have an active WalletHub account…” (so I can only like a review if I have an active account that requires me to share enough personal info to steal my identity?!) “… I authorize WalletHub to analyze and share this information in order to present me with personalized offers and advice…” (NO) “…and to retain a copy of my information for use in accordance with its Terms of Service & Privacy Policy…” (however WalletHub pleases) “…I understand that enrollment in this service is free and will not affect my credit…” (no thanks) “…I agree that WalletHub and its representatives may contact me via calls, emails and text messages at the email address and mobile phone number provided for marketing and informational purposes using an automatic dialing system or other technology…” (NO!) “…I understand that my consent to receive marketing communications is not required as a condition of any purchase…” (um, this is a LIE) “…and that I can opt out at any time...” (I don’t want to opt in NOW).
I didn’t bother reading the Terms and Conditions or Privacy Policy, but I’m sure it’s as wild as my experience thus far. The reason I’m writing this is in hopes that someone else will not get suckered into giving away their personal info or start receiving unsolicited calls and texts or have their identity stolen - bc I’ll bet that’s what will happen. If you need financial advice, call a financial advisor.
After I clicked to submit this review (all the above *on WalletHub’s site - not TrustPilot*), their system “checked my grammar for typos,” and generated a revised version of my review that minimized the details - with an option to use their review or mine. Guess whose I chose?
Since I was forced to provide my phone number for verification (even though I do not consent to any marketing and this was obviously done to as a ruse), I opted out. Ten seconds later, I receive an email from WalletHub that says I won’t receive credit alerts (they do not have my real address, DOB or SSN, so, how..?), gave info on how to re-enable texts, assumed I made a typo (made me lol), and demanded I immediately login to update my phone number for "security purposes." All bc I wanted to give someone a thumbs up on their review. If my identity gets stolen, I’ll know why.

Another WalletHub review on TrustPilot mentioned how WalletHub is scraping emails for spam (ding ding). WalletHub responded, “…every review must be linked to a WalletHub user profile. Your account must be attached to a valid email address that can be used to contact you...” If I’m giving a review on their site a big thumbs up and they only need my email to contact me “if needed,” why do they need to VERIFY my cell phone number and street address? Are they asking for my DOB to send me a birthday gift? Why do they need the last 4 digits of anyone’s SSN?? One guess…
EDIT - response to WalletHub's response:
I cannot edit my username without finalizing creation of my account by entering the last 4 digits of my SSN. When I added 4 random digits, their system prompted me to add my FULL SSN!!! Wow. "Protecting your identity is a top priority for us." No, it's not.
