Payment issues, not at my end

I booked the dates I wanted, paid for the booking and insurance. The next day, I was emailed to say it was not paid for and, with payment pending, I had until 10am the following day to resolve this. I called the number and paid a second time, only to have had another email to say my booking is cancelled. On investigation, it seems the number I was given was that of another company, whom I gave now paid. The insurance I paid is now with Vrbo but my booking is with Cottages.com. very confusing and I am left not knowing whether I have a cottage booked or not.

Vbro permits owner to cancel booking for more money

Hi, I was informed by the owner of the apartment that my vbro booking was cancelled, due to the apartment being sold and now being owned by new owners during the dates of my original booking. However the same apartment was still available for booking on my booking.com at four times the price.
This was very disappointing and felt like a waste of my time having searched extensively to find the booking. The original booking should have been honoured.

You have the function which says modify dates but your app doesn’t allow you to do so . Effectively you have to cancel and rebook - which means you have to pay upfront again whilst still waiting for refund and then have to contact insurance separately- why have the ability to modify dates but not allow to do so . Who ever is holding the money earns interest on that cash
