I've seen a lot of economy simulation games and this one might be the most in depth. It reminds me of another of my favorites, EVE Online. This one has some real world education to it and does a good job of forcing the player to make real decisions rather than other games that only give you a few options. I wouldn't worry about the Pay-to-Win since this game is really more about education.

The best business simulation game for free. This game really helps me to understand the business world as well as to have practical experience on my theoretical knowledge. As a business student, I'm really happy to find out Virtonomics

Five Things I Don't Like
1)First Thing That I dislike The most is that This Game Still Doesn't Have Own Stock Market For Teaching Players How To Invest In Stock Market despite Being One Of The Best Games of Business teaching this game still lacks behind in Ranking in world due to absence of major contributor to Economy of any country which is Stock market.
2)Second Thing which I Dislike Most is its Confusing Way To Manage large number of Offices and Store in every Country which depends onefficiency and it is too difficult for any one to maintain 100% efficiency Of All Units Unless You Have HR Subscription,If You Don't Have HR Subscription things Get Worse and Factories,Store Doesn't Work Or Work Less effectively Due To Less Efficiency.
3)Third Thing I dislike The Most is That There is still no more information about
Public Trading Company, Private Company,Hedge Fund Due To Absence Of Stock Market and Many Other Factors.
4)Fourth Thing Which I And 99% Of every Players Dislikes the most which is More Production And Less Buyers
So Decrease In Value Of Products(products selling at low price due to fierce competition).
5)Fifth and The Major Thing Which me and Every Other player Dislike The most Is there is less online players to purchase products from warehouse or factories and Store bots doesn't buy lot at once which leads Player Towards Bankruptcy.

I have No Issue With The Purchase Of Game Points Or Subscription But Prices Are Too High For Individual And group Purchase Too.

And Game Company Is Trying So Much to Attract More Players To Buy HR Subscription which Is Bad For Every Players Because for that company make hard to Achieve 100% efficiency if you don't have Have HR Subscription.

And I Hope So That Points Will noticed By Company and Changes will be there in Future.

This company is a scammer. I brought clients to them and they cheated me out of almost a thousand dollars. And they deceived not only me, but also all the partners.
Players spend money in the game in the following way. First, game points are bought for dollars, and then game items are bought for game points. 20% according to the terms of the agreement should be received by the partner who brought the player. Initially, affiliate deductions were accrued when a player spent game points. About two years ago, they changed the accrual system without warning and without notice. Now affiliate deductions are accrued when buying game points. Thus, those thousands of dollars that were converted by players from dollars to game points, but not converted into game items, were not taken into account in affiliate deductions. My demands for a percentage of the dollars spent by my players were ignored. The administrators pointed me to the paragraph of the rules, which says that they have the right to change the conditions without warning.
Also, my players have repeatedly complained about unauthorized debiting of funds from bank cards that were previously tied to the game to pay for services.

Most of the accolades in this company are obtained by bribing players. I can't attach a screenshot in which the administrator requires to write LAVE reviews in exchange for the introduction of game content, but I am ready to provide it and a direct link at the request of the administrator. Pay attention to the date of the administrator's message on the forum and the date of creation of laudatory reviews. I ask the administration of this site to intervene and remove such reviews that were received in violation of the rules.

The economy of the game in the current state is broken. I like the idea of the game concept itself, but I think there are just too few active participants to make the player-driven economy work.
In this state, I have the feeling, that the aim of the first days is to get money out of the new players before they realize some complete industries are not functional due to missing active participants.

Firstly, I signed up for the $1/mo trial, and in my opinion, this "educational" game is just a gatcha-game that is designed to prey on start-up entrepreneurs. It requires that you spend real-world money to buy Game Points in-order to progress (and this is not made clear when you join the system).

So let me be clear, this is a simulator, but it has no business in education, and in my opinion, you'd be wasting $29/mo.

As a result, I attempted to cancel the membership, and according to the welcome email "The 'Virtonomics Entrepreneur' is available by subscription. Subscription is renewed automatically and in accordance with Section 6 of the User Agreement, adopted by you at the time of registration and subscription. In case you decide to unsubscribe, you can do this through the interface of the Virtonomics Entrepreneur simulator (User Profile - My Subscriptions)"

Unfortunately that interface has no button I can click to end my subscription. I hope it's just some website bug, but due to the already questionable nature of the game's design, I have a really hard time believing that it wasn't intentional dark-ui design (which, if you care, is actually in violation of a number of ethical codes--including the ones laid-out by the Association for Computing Machinery and IEEE).

To clarify, I have attempted to end my subscription using Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Chrome, and the option to cancel my membership does not exist on the website.

10/31 Update: Due to the game being "turn based" they do not make the "cancel" button available in the UI until after 1 day has passed. Plus, again in the cancellation form, they make the "stay with us" (or whatever they called it) button big, bright and blue, and they make the "confirm and cancel" button just small text on a white button below, which is another classic example of Dark UI design.

I sincerely do not recommend learning anything about "business" from these people.

I've seen many great reviews about this game and decided to try it myself. I enjoyed the complexity behind it, and the diversity of the industries is great....until you try to find a supplier of anything. I've noticed a lot of the base level industries like farming and mining are requiring you to "spend points" (essentially pay to play) in order to build in that sector. This provides a barrier to entry in most industries, as the cost of production will be much higher than the recommended selling price. That paired with the fact that there is absolutely no difference between a subscription and free to play, despite it being described as a different setup for entrepreneurs (possibly just unclear descriptions on the packages). I have quite a few ideas on how it can be improved, but those are the main flaws.

Виртономика даёт очень неплохое понимание рыночных механизмов - торговых и производственных. Она не то, чтобы реально их симулирует от и до, но понятие даёт очень даже вполне. В графиках всеразличных понимания добавляет лихо (я удивился, когда узнал сколь малый процент людей эти самые графики понимает хоть как то).
Из недостатков могу отметить ленность администрации и некоторые, весьма странные на мой взгляд, решения. Однако, это моё личное мнение и не более того.
Нет реальных механизмов противодействия демпингу и демперам, что лично для меня сильно снижает привлекательность игры (кто-то пришёл на рынок и всё обвалил по желанию левой пятки).

Очень затягивает. Это настоящий симулятор.

Виртономика - очень спорный проект. Наткнувшись на него совершенно случайно, в 2015 году, с перерывами играю до сих пор. В этой игре не существует конца. Играешь, пока не надоест. Но, как правило, добившись каких-либо успехов и достигнув поставленных целей, даже если и забываешь о "Вирте", то потом все равно возвращаешься... "И все повторится вновь.."

Плюсы:
- огромный простор для выбора дейстельности
- условная, но все-таки привязка к реальным экономическим моделям
- бесконечный игровой процесс
- старожилы и многие игроки в целом, в жизни имеют собственные компании, либо просто тесно связаны с экономикой. Всегда интересно пообщаться.
- наличие незанятых ниш и рынков - их мало, но они есть.

Минусы:
- высокий входной порог: чтобы полюбить Вирту, придется попотеть. Игра сложна для освоения. Однако, существуют гайды, (хоть и безвозвратно устаревшие), которые проясняют основные моменты.
P. S. Гайд по торговле (поклон mr. Sumkin) актуален до сих пор.
- для действительно высоких и прорывных достижений нужен донат. Количество каждый определяет для себя сам. Можно играть и без доната, но не так интересно.
- Старожилы-мастодонты находятся, практически, на недосягаемом для новых игроков уровне. Однако, в жизни нет ничего невозможного (Вирта не исключение) и если подвинуть и пошатнуть позиции гигантов у вас получится вряд ли, то вот приблизиться к ним - вполне.

Как итог, на мой взгляд, прикоснуться и попытаться проникнуться игрой должен каждый, хоть немного заинтересованный в экономике человек. Пойдет или нет - уже другой вопрос :)

- non-trivial and realistic economic models that are not easy to hack
- requires from a few minutes to hours a day, depending on the level of involvement
- API that allows to automate routine business processes

Cons:
- not so many active players as it once used to be
- new web interface is too motley and slow

Great game to enjoy for years.

I mean literally, it's both a plus and a minus of the game. Average time it takes to amass wealth might take a year of real time, though it doesn't require too much time everyday.

As an obvious bonus - game allows to both spend a lot of time micro-managing every day and leaving it on its own for a real month with no visits at all (subject to spending (5$-10$ per 3 months on in-built automation tools).

Be aware that game is very specific and won't fit to everyone. It's a very well built nearly text-based economic game, so if you like Excel-like games you'll enjoy it. Otherwise it won't give you enough entertainment to spend time and possibly money on it.

Learning curve might seem a bit harsh, but community, though small, is very friendly and will be happy to help with advice and even some required resources to get you going.

This maybe a good game for some people however the proceedure for leaving the site and cancelling subscription is at the very least opaque. Been trying to do this all day.

Virtonomics comment from a previous user was as below:

'Unsubscribing is described in the user agreement. You can cancel the subscription in the V-Store / Paid Subscriptions tab.'.

However, I spent 2 hours trying to find the paid subscription tab on V-store. It is not clear. Would appear deliberately difficlt to find.

Further to the comment in response. There were two tabs in our version not 4 tabs. This was because it turned out we were logging on with another email address, rather than the one that was paid from. How was it possible to log on to another email account but not pay? Virtronomics are presumably identifying that there is a common IP address and allowing use of the programme. However, where is this stated that you can do this? Furthermore, we were told that if we couldn't log on with the other email they couldn't cancel the subscription... despite their system identifying a common IP adresss. In summary, we were able to log onto the original email and cancel. But why all this complexity and opacity? I find it difficult to trust a programme which has 20 buttons to spend money but only one...hidden away to unsubscribe. I leave it for other reviewers to consider what all this means.
