This is the worst gift card I've ever used! The first card I had was permanently locked after 5 purchases. I had to order another one and transfer the balance to it. I've used the new one THREE TIMES and was told if I make one more purchase today it will be locked again!! And their customer service is a joke! And not a funny one!! It's almost impossible to get a real person to talk to and when you do they can't do anything to fix the problem! I paid the money for the balance on the card and I expected to be able to use it. If I want to make 100 purchases a day with it I should be able to. It's my money! I will never use visa again! And I will tell every one I can not to waste their time buying one.

Bought card that had been tampered and Vanilla wont replace
The card that I purchased in person at Walgreens had been tampered with, before i purchased. I was never able to use my $200 card. Vanilla said I proved I was the owner and never sent replacement. They keep asking me to resend the original email and packet, they never receive they say. Broken record for a year.

Their own website and automated phone systems won't even admit the numbers are valid
so much wasted time and frustration. If this card were on fire, it wouldn't be worth the effort to piss on to put the fire out. There is no 16 digit number on these cardboard gift cards, a credit card number is 16 digits long. The big main number printed on this card is 19 digits long and not even the Vanilla gift website will accept it as valid. All their Support options point me to the Vanilla gift website, and the Vanilla gift website won't even acknowledge that this thing is a valid card. The automated phone support won't accept the numbers either. Their phone support is hopeless and sends me in circles and won't let me talk to a human. I had to lie on the website in order to get a complaint submitted just so I could get through to a person. An Amazon gift card would have been a fantastic thank you from Iowa Realty for selling my half million dollar house. I should have thrown the Vanilla gift card in the garbage. Tomorrow I'm going to set this piece of crap on fire and watch it burn. Nothing is worth this much frustration.
NOTE: the back of the card says "issued by Sutton Bank". Vanilla is just the front company, the real villan here is actually the card issuer, Sutton Bank. Make sure you file complaints against both institutions, and make sure you file with federal and state regulatory agencies, the fdic, and the BBB.
UPDATE: I finally got the actual credit card, but then they invalidate the card and blocked my cell number from calling the support number printed on the card, I just get "we're sorry, we can't provide service to the number you are calling from". Their website throws a "system error" when I enter the card info. Not canceled, or zero balance, just "system error". They won't respond to my emails. They have blocked me on messenger. They won't tell me what is going on. They even reported this review in an attempt to get it taken down. They've taken the money and run. My next step is to report them to state and federal banking regulators.

Extremely frustrating experience
I received a Vanilla Visa Gift Card on my bd and activated it, expecting to be able to use it online. First, I tried using it on Amazon — **declined**. Then I tried adding it to PayPal — **declined again**, even though the card was activated.
I then spent **around 30 minutes navigating their automated customer-service system**, trying different options because there is **no clear or straightforward option to speak to a human representative**. I finally found a way through two sub-options under “Report Other Issues.”
When I finally reached a representative, I could barely understand the agent because of the accent. After all that time and effort, I was simply told: **“Ma’am, you cannot use it online. Try using it in an actual store.”**
Seriously? If a Vanilla Visa Gift Card cannot be used online, **that should be clearly stated when the card is purchased and activated**. Why allow customers to waste their time trying to use it on major platforms like Amazon and PayPal?
Between the declined transactions, the extremely frustrating automated system, and the lack of clear information, this was a terrible customer experience. **I would not purchase another Vanilla Gift Card.**

I attempted to order a vanilla gift card online. I was charged twice on my credit card and then received a message that my transaction was rejected by vanilla gift card. I contacted them and was told by a very rude Melissa that I needed a reference number. Tried to explain that I didn't have one and why and she just kept talking over me. Very disappointed that such a large company gets away with such terrible customer service.

No customer service, website doesn't work, card worthless
I called the number on the back of the card to check my balance. I have not used the card yet. After the automated voice told me there was something wrong with my card, I chose the option to get a service rep. After 30 seconds of nothing, the call just hung up. Then I went to the website, hoping for better results there. I again entered all of my card information and the web page came back with "System error. Try again later." This is bogus. I can't check my balance or use my card! Don't get one of these for anyone. It will not be a gift! And if you have one given to you, it's worthless.
