If I could give negative stars I would worst service delivery 3 months late said they would discount it talked to several people to no avail. Now it’s falling apart after not even 8 months . Same story well email you and give you a 10 percent refund. Only thing good was the delivery guys were nice. Never deal with this place.
Stay away, your going to get ripped off
Stopped in to see if any good deals are available. Found a twin bed frame for my son. Only floor model available... sitting in front of us. VC associate "you have to have it delivered, sorry". Fee, $169.00. Initial price of the unit was still steep given the "discount". They're obviously trying to squeeze every penny out before they totally sink. Glad we decided not to fall for it, especially hearing how people with orders are being treated. We went up to Bob's, bought two bedroom sets and a recliner. Their delivery starts at $69! Good riddance VC.
Wrong section sectional
We ordered a sectional and one of the recliners came in the wrong color. The box was labeled correctly but the actual recliner was the wrong color. They would not allow us to keep it until the right one came in. When it comes to the delivery of the correct one they will not work with us when we want it delivered.
Avoid Easton Value City Furniture at…
Avoid Easton Value City Furniture at all costs. I purchased bedroom furniture a few weeks ago after the salesman explicitly told me everything was in stock and ready for delivery. Today, I was informed that the items are suddenly “no longer available” and that I’d have to wait another month for the rest of my order. This is completely unacceptable.
When I asked to cancel and get a refund, the sales department told me I would need to “go through the courts” to get my own money back. This is outrageous. No customer should be treated this way. The level of dishonesty and the refusal to issue a refund is absolutely unacceptable and shows shockingly poor customer service.

I am extremely disappointed with Value City Furniture and how poorly they handle their warranty claims. We bought our furniture less than a year ago, and after 10 months, we discovered a clear structural issue — the wood on the back of the furniture is soft, weak, and sinking in. This is exactly the type of problem that should be covered under their 1-year manufacturer warranty.
But instead of helping, Value City did everything they could to avoid dealing with the issue.
On the very first phone call, the representative brushed us off and claimed they couldn’t take the claim, telling us it had to be submitted to the Falls Church, VA store. When we contacted the store, they then told us to call the insurance company we purchased protection from. The insurance company immediately confirmed it is not an insurance claim — this is structural damage, and structural issues are covered by Value City’s one-year warranty, not by the insurance policy.
To make things worse, because we moved after the purchase, Value City tried to blame the issue on the movers — even though the damage is internal, not visible on the outside, and clearly a manufacturing defect. The furniture looks perfectly fine from the outside; the problem is only noticeable when you press the back and feel the wood sinking inward. This is not caused by movers; it is a poor-quality internal build that has deteriorated under normal use.
Horrible..nightmare..do not shop here.
we were scammed
We ordered furniture in January of 2025 with expected delivery in Feb/march. the order partially was delivered with some of the sections of the sofa to come later. they never arrived. finally in July we went to the store in Chicago at 2536 N Elston and talked to the "manager steve" who suggested we pick out another sectional and they would deliver that week. with the exchange and an additional $100 we could also choose a rug which would be sent that week. the sofa arrived but not the rug and they now claim the rug was not included even though we were told to pick it out that day. there were 3 of us who were told about the exchange and the bonus rug so its not like we are mistaken. they will not do anything. I am challenging the charge with American express
Never shop there
Never shop there! Worst service ever. It took 3 months to get my sectional. And I have spent a year being lied to about a repair as the footrest doesn’t raise and catches. First it was who is covering store or warranty. Then warranty took it and said parts were ordered. Then they said 3 months to get parts. Then they said parts were lost. Now they say they were never orders and claim

AVOID IT
I had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a furniture company when dealing with American City Furniture. The delivery process was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. It was supposed to be fully delivered on June 13th. They showed up with JUST an ottoman after I already had my couch hauled away! No warning. No notice. No call that the two piece sectional didn’t make it on the truck. Nothing but attitude. The store was rude and told me they couldn’t tell me anything about my delivery. It wasn’t completed until June 26th. I went that long with just an ottoman!
The second set of drivers lied about contacting me, claiming they had tried to reach me multiple times when they called once and didn’t bother to leave a message. On top of that, the delivery was canceled on the same day it was scheduled—multiple times—causing me to lose wages after taking time off work to be available.
When they finally attempted to finish the delivery, they damaged my entry door. The driver said he would report it and didn’t. Instead of taking responsibility, the situation was handled with complete disregard for customer service. The sales representative I spoke to, Vanessa, actually hung up on me mid-conversation multiple times.
This company’s lack of professionalism, accountability, and care for its customers is shocking. I strongly recommend avoiding American City Furniture at all costs. I should have stuck with Bobs!
very polite
I give a 5 star out of a 5 star. The delivery people were very polite and handled the furniture with care, they knew what they were doing!!!
Nightmarish Scam
The company can improve by issuing refunds when they are unable to deliver furniture. It has been three months and I have no furniture and they have my $3500. At this point I have already purchased a bedroom set through Ashley and just want a refund. When I went to the store they told me they can't issue refunds at the store level. Apparently they can take your money but they won't give it back. I will never shop there again, and I will tell all of my family, friends, coworkers, and enemies not to shop there as well.
1 Star
1 Star – A Masterclass in How Not to Run a Furniture Business (White Marsh Location)
This is a cautionary tale for anyone considering Value City Furniture (White Marsh). Avoid at all costs.
Our nightmare began on July 2nd, when we purchased a dresser, bedside tables, and a sofa. While applying for their credit option, we were told a soft check would be done—but the salesperson ran a hard credit check without our consent. Strike one.
Despite that, we proceeded—because we were moving to a new apartment and had our delivery scheduled for July 15th. While on vacation, I got a message from the rep saying delivery was now delayed to July 29 or later. No formal apology. No proactive communication. Just “oops, delayed.”
We returned to the store and selected a replacement bed set—only because they promised it would arrive by July 23rd. That promise? Broken too. On July 21st, we were informed that even this set would now arrive on July 29th (not confirmed, by the way).
Then comes the final insult: Today, July 23rd, our sofa arrives… in the wrong color. We ordered olive green, received beige. Manager’s response? “We’ll swap it—on August 5th.” Are you kidding?
We’re now stuck paying additional rent at our current apartment because our move is stalled and our furniture is missing or wrong. This has been a total disaster—zero accountability, broken promises, and constant logistical screw-ups.
American customer service? Nowhere in sight.
This company doesn’t just need better processes—it needs a complete overhaul.
Never again. I’ll be telling everyone to stay away.
LAIRS AND THEIVES!!!!!
VALUE CITY FURNITRUE IN MANAHAWKIN NJ
ATTN!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE SALESMAN GENE SEPENTELLI AND MANAGEMENT MICHAEL TILLET ARE LIARS AND THIEVES. AND WEILL TAKE EVERY ADVANTAGE OF THE CUSTOMER THEY CAN!!
I DO NOT RECCOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. terrible customer service. the salesman Gene Serpentelli will lie, cheat and just about steal to make a sale happen so he gets his commission. he will promise you the world, so you give him your money, and he gives you nothing he promised. he even went as far as fraudulently writing on only my copy of the carbon copy invoice a sooner delivery date "guaranteed by" and when I spoke to "management" Michael Tillet regarding the concern I got the same run around and CONMAN routines. he was rude and obnoxious and unwilling to help.
STORY BELOW.
went to value city furniture of Manahawkin on 5/4/25 with my wife for a new couch, when we got there, we were instantly approached by GENE SERPENTELLI and was instantly asked what we "had to spend" and he would tell us what we could afford. which was red flag number 1, we ignored the question and continued to show him what we wanted, once we found a couch we wanted we explained to him that we were on a time restriction because our old couch had broken and we had to throw it out so we had no couch in our living room and we had guests staying at our house in the coming weeks. and we expressed the need for delivery asap and if it was not possible to get that couch within a month that we would search out another couch that would sooner be available. he then proceeded to tell us "Anything you want i can guarantee you delivery for whenever you need it" (of course this was only after he realized we were looking at higher priced couches which would increase his commission) so he told us the couch we wanted was a guaranteed delivery before 6/6/25 "by a week or two" and i asked him to please make sure or else id have to find another couch with a better delivery date. he then stated, "no worries its guaranteed". to which we continued with the deal and because we bought during the Memorial Day sale we were promised a 28-inch Blackstone griddle with the purchase which was also "guaranteed" delivery with the couches themselves. to which we agreed and once the deal was done and funded, i looked at the invoice for our purchase and it said "estimated delivery 6/6/25" to which i said " hey gene you told me guaranteed delivery 2 weeks before 6/6/25" to which gene replied with " oh no that's wrong" and proceeded to hand write on my carbon copy ONLY "before 6/6/25" with intent to DECIEVE me and TAKE ADVANTAGE of me as the customer. he told me he would keep in touch with me over the phone regarding delivery. we left the store feeling uneasy about our purchase and not feeling very confident in it.
2 weeks have gone by and i have not heard a word from GENE SERPENTELLI so i call the store and get the run around and he is either not there, not available at the moment and will call me back, which never happened he was terrible about following through once the deal got funded. eventually i complained enough and i called and got a hold of him to which he only then started to tell me that they were having a change of warehouse that they have known about for some time and that my delivery along with many others would be delayed a " few weeks" which i was very unhappy with because i was promised a delivery date. i then spoke to "management" MICHAEL TILLET i explained the whole situation and he said " well that sucks" there is a change in warehouse there is nothing we can do except keep calling them and ask them if it showed up in stock yet because they're moving all of their inventory from one place to another. i explained to him my urgency and what i was promised and how disappointed i was, to which he was assuring me that he would talk with GENE as they are "not allowed" to guarantee anything and that he would speak to GENE to see if he did in fact write on my invoice, supposedly gene confirmed he did do this so in turn, he also requested i email him a copy of my invoice with genes handwriting on it, showing that he wrote on my copy only intending to DECIEVE ME .my furniture showed up on 6/17/25 WITHOUT THE BLACKSTONE AS PROMISED ON DELIVERY. at this point i have been majorly inconvenienced. spoke again with MICHAEL TILLET to which he was rude and dismissive saying things like " there's nothing more to discuss the answer is no i cant do anything for you" " ill have someone call about your grill" and rudely hung up the phone... i will be reaching out to corporate!!!!!
BUNCH OF LIARS AND THIEVES AND MICHAEL TILLET THE MANAGER ALLOWS THE SALEMEN TO LIE CHEAT AND STEAL FROM CUSTOMERS!!!
I WILL NEVER BUY FROM HERE AGAIN $5,000 IN THE DRAIN AND THE COUCH IS TERRIBLE QUALITY.
Horrible
Unfortunately, we didn't experience superior service. We pre ordered some leather hartley sectional pieces from dylan at Eastgate. As part of the deal we struck with him was to have the other couch picked up that was just delivered by them as it clearly wasn't as advertised. I had to call next next day and spoke with yvonne to arrange the pickup and finalize the new purchase, i spent over 3 hours making phone calls to her trying to make sure she was taking care of business for us. She's very slow and said she was the only one there today and had a lot to do that day. Well, im the one who actually had to make the calls and take care of it because every time I'd call back, she acted confused and wasn't on it. Several days later, i called kyle, the assistant manager, and he had to call Springdale to set up the return because she didn't set it up nor follow up like she said she would. A couple of days later, on delivery day, the delivery teams show up and begin to physically roll our 3 boxes through the wet grass and down the driveway, and walkways end over end. In shock, luckily, I had taken a video of this. Boxes were destroyed by the time they made it to our door. I'm pretty skinny myself as i have lymphoma but I had to help one of the guys bring in the last box a few more feet into our home as the other driver quit, gave up and walked off. We had some real damage to the frames. In additionthe walls in the hallway were damaged by the delivery helper guy tossing the returned couch down the stairs. The head driver admitted his helper had a "bad attitude" and didn't want to help. I sent in the video and photos to Eastgate and Springdale stores to let them know what happened. The Eastgate manager lady reviewed the video evidence and called me back. She wanted to set up a whole new delivery. I said lets hold off until I can inspect everything. She said she would have a sit down meeting with her staff and discuss my particulars, the unacceptable tossing of 3 couch boxes down our driveway, the damage to our walls and bent frames with them and call me back the following day with a resolution and or compensation to satisfy us 100 percent. So far, we've never heard back from anyone at Eastgate! Our salesman never followed up since we last saw him in the showroom either. He never even shook our hands after completing the sale. I had to walk back over to him and extend my hand and say thanks. This has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I can not recommend this establishment based upon our experience. Thanks.
Is it just me? VCF Catonsville
I went to the VCF store in Catonsville to purchase a recliner. I was helped by a helpful but not pushy salesman who showed me the selection. The first item I chose had a six week lead time. My alternative choice was available.
The delivery took one week, the driver called the daybefore and everything went well.
Overall I'd say the experience start to finish was above average.
The Worst Customer Service
I placed an order for a sofa and coffee table in December 2024. I was told it was on back order & would deliver in March. In March I was told it was running behind. In April I was contacted and told they could deliver 2 or the 3 pieces of the sofa. I refused stating that I wanted the entire couch. On May 1st it arrived. I was unhappy with the coffee table size and called the store on 5/10 to return it. Was told that I had to call customer service which I did but they were not open. I called back on 5/12 and was told they couldn't accept the return because it was out of the 7 day window. The date was within the 7 business day window so they said it would need supervisor approval & I would receive a call back. 5/19 I called again because I never received a return call & was told that it was too far out of the return window. I never received paperwork or was told about the return window & the "supervisor" said it's on their website so that's not their problem. Now I have an $800 coffee table that is too large for the room and am stuck. I will never spend another dime at VCF and would not encourage anyone else to either.
INTENTIONALLY DAMAGED MY PROPERTY
Typically I check out reviews before shopping anywhere. But, since I’ve purchased from them before, I didn’t and I had a HORRIBLE experience. The item did not fit, but instead of telling me they ruined my wall and now it needs fixing. The people that came by home and did the damage need to be fired. It was clearly intentional.
I ordered a sectional on 3/24/25 with…
I ordered a sectional on 3/24/25 with the expected delivery date of 5/6/25. This was a purchase after I experienced a total loss house fire. On 5/5/25 I was contacted to schedule my delivery and was informed that 6 of the 7 pieces of sectional would be delivered and the last piece wasn't shipped by the manufacturer, so, I wouldn't get it until 6/4/25. It was when I strongly started to question the customer service person about "where was the piece," that suddenly it was able to be changed to 5/21...exactly two weeks away. I thought that was odd since I know that they only deliver to my area every two weeks...and we've went from 6/4/25 to 5/21/25 without any "checking" on the status of the piece. I was told to that I would need to contact the store I purchased from, which was Miamisburg, OH. The store called me, no excuses, no cares about any delay or inconvenience I've been caused...only to find out that...they did have all of the pieces...they just didn't load it into the truck in Columbus before sending to Cincinnati to deliver. The store manager, again, had no cares, no concerns, and no real apologies, and apparently the GM was off that day and she can only be bothered when she's scheduled to be "in." I contacted the customer service line where I was told, they didn't load the piece on the truck because they ran out of room and they really didn't care what my inconvenience was and I had the option to either cancel the order or accept delivery of the last piece when it was convenient for them. I asked if a courier could deliver it (about 1 1/2 hours) or if I could go pick it up at the distribution center or if they could transfer it to a store and I could get it there. The answer was "no" and I could either take it or leave it. I didn't order a partial sectional, I didn't pay for a partial sectional, I ordered it weeks in advance, and was the furthest thing from a priority or a concern for VCF. They had zero hesitations to take a full payment prior to delivery without any real intention of delivering on time...based on the reviews of read of other customer experiences. The level of "cares" or "concerns" was non-existent. I would be ashamed. Screw me once shame on you...I PROMISE IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I'm still debating whether I will accept the "partial" delivery tomorrow or just go out of my way to wait for them to show up to my house...which is way out of the way and just refuse the delivery. I guess I should have looked at their reviews before I walked into the store...my bad.
Completely Appalled – The Most Disrespectful and Frustrating Furniture Shopping Experience
I was met with rude service, lack of communication among the company, back and forth, attitude. It was a horror getting furniture from this company
This was the worst shopping experience I’ve ever had.
⸻
I bought several pieces of furniture from Value City Furniture in Rockville, MD in December 2024, including two sofas, tables, and a dining set. They promised to deliver everything within two months, but after four months, only part of the order arrived — the two sofas were missing.
Despite many phone calls and visits to the store, no one could explain what happened to the sofas. I was promised a $200 compensation and a refund for the missing items, but I received neither.
This was the worst shopping experience I’ve ever had. The staff were unprofessional and disorganized. I do not recommend this store to anyone.
