I placed an order with Unmanned Tech and then realised that I'd made a mistake after paying and the product I wanted was no longer in stock. A real person answered my query and changed my order with no problem at all. Drone arrived and as a newbie I was unable to activate the GPS so I contacted Unmanned Tech to see if they could suggest something. I was expecting some vague reply about looking at the manual etc but I was surprised and delighted to find an email from another real, named person with a bespoke solution for my problem and a schedule of actions I should take and the order in which I should make the changes Result was that 30 minutes after reading the email all was working perfectly. I have not had after sales service like this for decades. In future I will buy all my kit from here. I'd much rather back-order something knowing I had proper after-sales than get it tomorrow and be left in the cold with a bricked drone.

Great if you don't mind the wait
After 30+ orders with UM these are my Ps & Cs.
Pros:
- Good selection on the website,
- Well priced,
Cons:
- They state same day dispatch but really its same day tracking generated and the parcel is collected the next day (at best) when royal mail comes to collect, even if you pay for faster postage.
- Browsing the website is a pain unless you know exactly what you're after. Needs better filters
- Contacting them can be very slow, but when they do reply its normally knowledgable.

Blimey, 30+ orders. First off, thanks for basically funding our entire year's supply of Jaffa Cakes. We genuinely appreciate the loyalty.
Okay, let's get into the cons, because your feedback is bang on.
On the dispatch times, you’ve highlighted a super frustrating point for both of us. We have a hard 3 PM cut-off, and 99% of orders placed before then are physically packed and handed to Royal Mail that same day. The issue, and where you've rightly noticed a delay, is that Royal Mail's own tracking system sometimes doesn't update until much later that evening, or even the next day. So while your parcel is on its adventure, their system is still telling you it's with us. We do do miss the odd order (we're human!) but it its by far the exception rather than the rule.
Regarding support speed, we know the wait can be a pain. It's a conscious trade-off we've made: instead of a generic, instant reply, we want you to get the best answer from someone who actually knows the tech inside-out. The bottleneck is that the person best qualified to answer is sometimes busy doing 100 other things. It's not the perfect system, and improving that response time is what we are working towards constantly finding little things to make things faster internally.
And the website filters... yeah. You found our secret shame. It’s on our to-do list, right after ‘figure out where that weird burning smell is coming from’.
Seriously though, this is the kind of detailed, constructive feedback that actually helps us improve. Cheers for taking the time, and for sticking with us.
Appalling, very slow customer service. Avoid.
My advice is to avoid using Unmanned Tech at all costs. I ordered an FMS Ranger Trainer 850mm (Ready to Fly) through their website. While the Ranger arrived faulty and could not be flown, I fully appreciate that this was more than likely an issue from the factory and not the fault of the supplier, Unmanned Tech.
However, the support thereafter was woeful. It took 38 days from me reporting the issue to finally having a complete refund settled, after an agonisingly slow period of troubleshooting.
When it was finally decided for me to return the RC plane, which was dead on arrival, the return postage system is inadequate. They're not willing to cover the costs of a proper tracked delivery system with adequate insurance for an item worth £170. So, worryingly, you're left in the lap of Evri.
Instead of having a direct way to support your concern, you're left to post on a forum and receive extremely slow replies - at times six days between correspondence. Their customer service is appalling. Unmanned Tech - if demand is high and you're busy, hire more people to satisfy what is required rather than leaving customers in the lurch for so long.
I would highly advise anyone to avoid buying through Unmanned Tech. There is zero sense that they care or that you are ever a priority.

There’s no way to spin this: we’re sorry. We took a frustrating situation with a faulty product and made it infinitely worse through our own slow and inadequate processes.
You’ve laid out some serious, painful truths about our systems. Our forum-based support is intended to build a public knowledge base, but for a time-sensitive DOA product, it was the wrong tool for the job. It was slow, impersonal, and a terrible experience for you. We see that now.
Your advice to 'hire more people' is heard. We are a very small team, and your case has brutally exposed what happens when our systems can't cope with the demand. It is a hard lesson that we are not growing fast enough to prevent customers like you from being badly let down.
The worst part for us is reading that you felt we didn’t care. Our actions (or lack thereof) gave you every reason to feel that way. We can't fix the 38 days of frustration we caused, but we can thank you for taking the time to write this. It’s feedback like this that forces necessary, painful change. We're taking it to heart.

I send my Package back to get a refund (nothing was wrong with it i just did Not Need it anymore) and ups lost it on the way and gave me the worst Support.
I Wrote the unmanned tech Support and they tried to find the Package and the Status.
Unfortunately, they couldn't find the package, but they still refunded me the full amount without my insisting. Great support and I'd be happy to buy again :)

Our thought process on this end was pretty simple: You did your bit by sending it, the courier fumbled it, and we'd rather keep a good customer happy than spend weeks arguing with a tracking number that's vanished into the ether.
Honestly, we just figured you were good for it. Sometimes the right thing to do is just to trust people.

Don't believe the advertised prices. Sham of a company
Ordered a Neo motion combo, was charged on my card and received an order number, 2 days later they cancelled my order due to a stock and pricing error, ie not happy to honour the price, despite taking my money and forming a contract by issuing an order number. Obviously a company who do not care about contract or consumer law regarding clear price advertising, now left with credit card fees waiting for a refund rather than my goods.

To be perfectly clear on the timeline and the actions we took:
- Your order was placed over the long Bank Holiday weekend (backorder as the item was not in stock).
- When we were back at work on Tuesday morning, we identified a genuine pricing error on this item.
- We took immediate action and processed a FULL and instant refund to your card.
- We also sent a 10% discount code to your email to sincerely apologise for our mistake.
For the benefit of all our customers, we also want to clarify the law on this. An online order is a customer's 'offer' to buy a product. A binding sales contract is only formed when we accept that offer by physically dispatching the goods (as per our terms, Sec 4.1). Since this order was fully refunded before the item was ever in stock, no contract had been formed. This is standard practice across all UK online retail.
We are genuinely sorry for the initial error and hope this summary clarifies not just our position, but also our commitment to acting quickly and fairly.

Very useful place
UmT is where I got my first quad from this year. Can't fault the service. They have a huge range of tiny spares for all major bnfs as well, which is super useful to avoid waiting for stuff from China, just wish they had even more selection and available stock but supply and demand I guess. As well as soldering equipment useful for those like me just starting out in the hobby. Between UmT and HobbyRC you should have everything you might need for quad flying hobby covered in the UK.
