50% increase in price after booking with no cancellation option

Booked a hotel in France through hotels.com that I could not cancel. Immediately received a message from the hotel informing me that bedding, towels and cleaning are extra totalling around an extra £70 on a £140 hotel booking so a 50% increase. There was no mention of this on hotels.com website. When I complained I was informed that this information is on the owners own website and I should have checked this prior to booking. This is unreasonable and I have never had to do this on the 1000’s of bookings I have made through other companies. Please be careful when booking through this company as they are clearly not providing a like for like booking.com type service.
