Weird and unfair grading. Don’t waste your money!
I hold C1 certificates from both Cambridge and TOEFL, so I’m very familiar with international exam standards. However, my experience with TrackTest was extremely disappointing, especially regarding the Writing section.
Despite consistently demonstrating C1-level writing skills in well-recognized assessments, TrackTest downgraded my score to B2 based on “task completion,” claiming: “The second essay's format is faulty.”
They stated I should have included an introduction, body, and conclusion, even though this requirement was NEVER mentioned in the instructions. Penalizing candidates for rules that were never provided is completely unacceptable.
Additionally, TrackTest does not provide access to the original prompts or allow any review process, which makes it impossible to verify or question their evaluation. The feedback I received felt automated, generic, and far less precise than human-evaluated systems used in internationally recognized exams. Even on their own website they openly admit: “Your writings are saved and evaluated by the combination of our AI rating model and trained assessors.” This explains the rigid and inflexible scoring.
While the company is based in Slovakia (which is fine in itself), TrackTest does not follow the level of transparency, standardization, or reliability expected from established English-language institutions such as Cambridge or ETS. For an English proficiency test, this lack of alignment with global assessment standards is concerning.
I only took this test because it was required. If I had the choice, I would absolutely avoid it. If you need a reliable and globally accepted evaluation of your English, stick to Cambridge, TOEFL, or other well-established examinations.
Don’t waste your time or your money here.
