We have used Toad Hall Cottages many times now and they are always extremely friendly and helpful. The properties they manage are in great condition and always immaculate. We look forward to our next trip to Cornwall. Thank you!

Choice of properties is great and no problems at all.

The positives, from the outside, a chocolate box Dorset thatched cottage. A great location, easy walk to town & beach, regular bus services, friendly pub close by. Garden pretty, dog friendly and enclosed.

However, the house was dirty, dusty and full of cobwebs. The kitchen and bathrooms needed a deep clean. All the bed linen and towels were old, dirty and covered in stains. The paintwork was chipped, tired and dirty, it needed redecorating throughout.

On top of all of the above, there was an ongoing 2 year building project at the bottom of the garden causing brick dust to cover the garden and our vehicles in a thick layer of dust. We were not warned of this. Using the garden or hot tub during daytime hours was impossible.

Toad Hall Holiday Cottages would not visit during our stay to inspect the issues, they failed to send a cleaner and didn’t change the bed linen and towels. We had a poor apology and a very small refund which was not acceptable.

Based on all of the above we cannot recommend the cottage in its current condition and will never use Toad shall cottages again.

The apartment was comfortable and the location is excellent. the booking process is easy and no problems when booking it. the facilities were excellent the only thing I would say is get a different cooker as the grill took ages to cook the food. there was enough dishes and cutlery

Superb spacious accommodation in a wonderful off road peaceful setting. Wonderful walks along the River Dart which runs through the grounds. Comfy cosy wood burner fire. Well equipped kitchen and very comfortable bedrooms. Our third visit to Holne Chase.

The position of the flat was great,interior excellent didn’t give 5 stars because none of the heated towel rails or electric radiators worked, the maintenance person came in but couldn’t get them working either. But comfortable bds and very well equipped kitchen overall a great stay

Lovely cottage in a good central location for the area. Bus stop close by. We love to stay as often as we can at least twice a year, it is ideal for the two of us and our dog.

The property is excellent, and the service provided by the office staff and cleaning team impeccable.

We have been staying at Thorpe Arnold most year since 2019. Major has recently gone through a much needed refurbishment which has made the property much more open plan and lighter. Apart from a couple of issues with a broken tap and loo that flushed intermittently there were no issues.
Highly recommend.

Fleur is a great bungalow with superb sea views in Charmouth. It’s well equipped and only 7 mins walk from the beach and 5 mins to the centre of the village. The property itself is starting to look a little tired. It could do with a good coat of paint and I would suggest the master bedroom needs a new mattress. The property was clean upon arrival except for the mirror in the master bedroom which was filthy and if you moved the sofas, there was a lot of dust & dirt underneath. For this I’ve marked it down.

Michelle is a lovely lady who makes everyone feel very welcome! The cottage is cosy, clean and in a lovely spot!
Just a couple of observations, the oven would benefit from a clean and a few new trays!! Odd bits in bathroom need maintenance or replacement! A few more tea towels??

Booking and arrival information was good. We had a maintenance issue during our stay which was dealt with in an efficient and helpful way.

What made this great was the properties location. It really made getting out and about very easy and leisurely. Beautiful high st and Saturday market.
We had a domestic problem which was sorted as soon as possible by the office locally. we did enjoy the stay and were quite comfortable. The main bathroom was very up to date, although we had a shower problem here, later resolved, and beds and towels of good quality. However we felt some areas were rather tired, and could be improved with more comfortable and practical furnishings. Whilst appreciating the age of the building it had a feeling of neglect, firm instructions NOT to open windows,NOT to light the cosy stoves NOT to take books??, armchairs when another sofa would have been more beneficial. Also cleanliness, shower curtain had black mould on it, and several utensils and pans had to be washed before use. kettle furred up so limescale had to be rinsed out each morning. These are touches, that whilst not spoiling our stay, show attention to details and clients comfort are not taken as seriously as you would hope.
Finally...no welcome tray, milk, tea, coffee, a biscuit, they were hurriedly sourced at local Tesco. After a long journey it was lacking and unwelcoming as were the dead plants at the front door, appearances do matter

Appalling customer service. We booked a 3 night stay in Fowey as a nice rest stop whilst backpacking along the South West Coast Path.
Our stay was due to start on a Monday. At 4:50pm on a rainy Saturday (they’re closed on Sunday) we had an email saying our booking has been cancelled! We had to roam around the campsite in the wet looking for mobile reception in order to phone THC. The attitude of the person dealing with the matter was “you can find somewhere else…how far are you prepared to go?” I pointed out we were walking and it had to be Fowey. When you’ve walked 100s of miles every extra mile counts! She had no alternative in Fowey, except for a place that was available a day too late. (Why did she even suggest it?) She obviously just wanted to clock off for the day and go home. Not helpful! No suggestion that she’d ring around and come up with something else.
I think the least a company can do if a booking is cancelled at the last minute is to find alternative accommodation… not leave you in a field with little reception trying to sort it on your own as they really could not be bothered with the effort. Why did they not phone as soon as they knew of the cancellation? Why only email? Shocking. This company might be ok when things are going well but when things aren’t there is zero interest in the upheaval it’s created. Would not recommend them. Will not use them again.

This was the first time that we used Toad Hall Cottage’s and found them very friendly, helpful & professional when dealing with them. Drifters is quite an amazing holiday experience the views over Burr Island were fantastic. The beach was wonderful. Our grandchildren loved it and there was a lovely little coffee vendor on the sand which was lovely when going for an early morning walk. The walk down to the beach took about five minutes it was all downhill but do be careful if you have a problem walking as it is quite a steep climb back of course there is a car park so you could drive down if you wanted to. Drifters was so wonderful that we have booked to return next year.

Smell dog on sofas. Unpleasant. Kettle and shower head require descaling. Sink needs bleaching. Shower cubicle and bathroom as a whole need deep clean.
We love visting the new forest but doubtful we would book thro Toad Hall again and most certainly not Cherry Trees.
