Paint full of dirt, customer service not interested

Paint is great, however I was expecting ‘express delivery’ for my online order. It had not arrived after a week and no comms to explain why. When chased was advised it was because colour charts were out of stock. I’d rather have received the rest of my order on time without the colour card!

Be careful when ordering anything that's not white. The company breaks the UK returns law on online purchases!
I made a very big order because I am painting the whole flat and I wanted to exchange (!) one 3l can of paint for a different colour. I've been told no. I don't know what I'm going to do. Their paint is expensive and I am stuck with an ugly colour. It is really not a big problem for a big company but a big deal for a customer like me.

I ordered Helmi 10 colour matched to COAT paints. The match is great and the paint looks wonderful on our cabinets. The paint was recommended by the installer and took a while to get used to. As a DIYer I didn’t know about self levelling paint and to apply it generously but after emailing Tikkurila customer services was given some good advice and the cabinets and bookshelves have turned out great.

I also emailed for some advice on lacquer and received a response in good time. I will definitely be using Tikkurila again.

The only (slight) negatives are the paint took a few days to arrive which is longer than other paint companies I’ve been using - and I referred a friend who got 15% off but I never received any discount codes.

PAINT - I'm a DIYer who likes to get a good paint job done for myself and family, and for decades would only use one of the leading paints starting with D. However, I've found quality has diminished in recent years and became well hacked off when recently was talked into using a water base woodwork product which didn't cover well or give a particularly tough finish. In looking on youtube I came across a professional giving Tikkurila glowing reviews for various finishes.I have now used Helmi 30 on top of Otex primer, both water based. The finish is really nice and it was good to apply, so I think I'm now sold on buying from them. I've ordered some emulsion now to see how that goes.
SERVICE - I wish everyone in this country provided the level of service I have received - first class.

Placed 3 orders in last 2 months for Helmi 10, colour matched to Farrow & Ball. Great product, mixed service.

Order #1. Delivered accurately and on time. 5 star.

Order #2. Delivered on time but a simple tin of white paint. No colour matching. Rang for help. Sent a replacement via express delivery which arrived next day. Good response to bad service.

Order #3. Ordered Thursday. Received confirmation email to notify delivery probably on Monday. Received txt to confirm delivery actually Tuesday. On Monday received txt to confirm delivery Monday lunchtime. Was out. Parcelforce left note to tell me that, since I was out and since they can't leave in a safe place, they had returned parcel to a post office in nearest town. 50 minutes round trip to collect. Not available until 24 hours later. More than a bit inconvenient. Had this issue before with Parcelforce - the least helpful of all carriers. Would be helpful if low value items like this could be left in a safe place, like almost all other carriers.

Personally as a professional decorator I cannot recommend this company highly enough. I have been using them for 4 years now and have tried roughly 25 of their products.
Firstly the customer service is excellent. Very knowledgeable,helpful and friendly.
On the extremely rare occasion there has been some kind of mishap they cannot put it right quickly enough. I have zero worries when I am dealing with them.Excellent.
The products themselves are a joy to use in my opinion, and if you know what you're doing you can achieve a beautiful finish time after time, you can count on it. I've lost count of the amount of customers who have been extremely happy I recommended using a Tikkurila system. Many many lovely rooms and happy customers.

I accidentally ordered the wrong color and realized it an hour later. However, Tikkurila refused to let me cancel the order or return it for an exchange. Their justification is a footnote in their terms and conditions stating that their products are personalized. A fair business practice would be to clearly inform customers about the return policy instead of hiding it, thus profiting from customer mistakes. I am very disappointed and will not use their services again.

Superb quality paint and great service/advice from a member of the team called James. Without the advice I literally would have bought the wrong items! Delivery arrived very quickly too.

I'm a decorator of many years experience. Over the last few years I've become tired of the same old, same old when it comes to the big paint manufacturers and decorators merchants. The standard of professional coatings in the UK has dropped remarkably in the last decade as has the service I receive at the well known merchants. I decided around a year ago to try to find something online that could fulfil my high expectations on both fronts and having tried some of the higher choices on Google (and not being massively blown away) I asked on some of the professional decorators forums. It seemed that the same name was coming up time and again and that name was Tikkurila. I had heard of it but had never seen the gear in action so I signed up for a trade account online, popped in an order and just like magic, the paint turned up on my doorstep by 10am the following morning! To say I was impressed is an understatement. I decided to hold fire on singing too much praise until I'd actually tried the gear that I'd ordered. Again, absolutely terrific. Oil based paints that actually behaved like oil based paints, emulsions that actually cover in 2 coats like the good old days and an excellent paint matching service that accurately matches F&B and Little Greene (these colours are notorious for being difficult to match) Months on, the acrylic trim paints are still looking in good shape on all works carried out at customers houses and I've received great feedback on scrubability of the acrylic matts I've used. The Otex oil based primer is a particular favourite of mine, used on melamine and left for a couple of weeks it has not just survived the finger nail scratch test, it has survived the 6 inch nail scratch test and the stanley blade scratch test. Any decorator worth his salt will tell you this is not just impressive but nigh-on impossible!
Special praise must be singled out for the customer services you receive from Tikkurila. They follow up call you to check you're happy with the products and any issues you may have (i've not had any apart from asking about certain products on certain facades due to the Finnish names of the paints) it really seems as though they care about their clients. Keep up the great work Tikkurila, I'm definitely sold and please order with confidence if you're reading this!

The colour match they advised was absolutely terrible and nothing like the colour of the original paint.

Delivery is abysmal. The delivery company DPD that they use have a policy of attempting ONE delivery and then they just leave your goods in a shop miles away for you to collect. A lot of drivers don't even attempt a single delivery - just take a picture of the front of your house so as not to be inconvenienced by having to leave their van. Then text to say you weren't home and that your really heavy paint pots need to now be collected from a random location! That's not a delivery service.

The Tikkurila / Valtti overall experience is poor. Source your paint elsewhere.

Pretty good paint, particularly AR2, understandable supply issues currently, helpful team, fast delivery.

Contacted them via online live help. I wanted advice on what product was suitable to use on a Cedar sauna. Advisor clearly didn't know what they were talking about and suggested that I could use a product that contained solvents and VOC's. This would result in persons using the sauna coated in their suggested product inhaling toxic fumes! Not acceptable for any company yet alone one that advertises expertise in sauna treatments. I will now shop elsewhere.

I bought an electric sander from Tikkurila. It arrived damaged. Tikkurila got a replacement to me very rapidly, not even waiting for the return of the damaged one.
