Just opened a new tin of Ronseal Varnish - my first impressions were quite good. But less than one third of a can I see a large rust spot on the spine of the can on the inside. This is leaking a dark brownish colour to the varnish.

How is this possible in the manufacturing process? This can’t be a single exception rather a production issue.

So disappointing! You should be able to expect a tin of paint or vanish to be free from any contaminants - especially rust!!

I complained about a two part wood filler setting far too quickly to allow proper application and smoothing.

I tentatively suggested that a refund of my purchase price would bring me satisfaction and to my surprise it was agreed by the company.

Very, very helpful advisors who were able to give prompt and appropriate advice.

Bought a pump sprayer but it has to be the worst experience I have ever had, the paint is watery and requires at least 2 coats despite being sold as one coat, the sprayer clogs every 3 minutes and it is far from precision spraying. Cost me 49 euros so worst spent money ever

Very disappointed with this paint. I'm having to apply a third coat just to get reasonable coverage. It goes on so thin it feels like you're painting with coloured water rather than wood paint. For the price, I expected much better, and I won't be buying it again.

Bought some Ronseal 5 Year Fence Life+(Sage).
I might as well have painted my shed with dirty water, so weak and wishy washy is the stuff. It says 2 or 3 coats might be needed, more like 5 or 6! Not worth buying.
I would go for Cuprinol Garden Shades (Seagrass), which I had used previously.
Better still, Siramico Fence Paint, which I subsequently bought. A bit more expensive, but covers well with just one coat!

I usually love Ronseal products particularly their fence treatments & wood paints.

However, I purchased their “Midnight Blue” wood paint and the colour is absolutely disgusting.

How any company can call this Midnight Blue when it is clearly Teal is beyond me!!!

I have wasted over £20 (and a lot of time!!!) applying this paint. I now have to go and purchase another coloured paint to apply over this dreadful colour.

Very unimpressed!!! However, I am not alone because I have found many other people complaining about this colour too. Only wish I’d read the reviews before purchasing…

The produce was advertised that the colour in the tin was dark in colour but when used and sanded the end colour was nearer to cream than dark which lead to a very difficult issue to get the finish to a colour closer to the colour required

Had an incident of the handle becoming detatched from the ronseal fence paint and consequently spilling most of it and as you can image paint everywhere. ☹️.
Contacted ronseal who responded straight away. Pointed out the fact the design and construction of the hadle needs upgrading. This was taken onboard and although i wasn't looking for compensation they instructed me to replace the fence paint and submit the bill for a full refund.
This i did the following day and a quick phone call and the refund was on it's way. Hopefully will new a safer handle on the pots.

I bought Ronseal Sage Green Garden Paint expecting a sage green finish. Instead, it dried to a distinctly blue colour that bore little resemblance to the colour shown on the tin or in the advertising.
After carefully preparing the surface and following the instructions, I contacted Ronseal and supplied photographs and supporting information. Despite the obvious difference, I was told the colour was within acceptable limits.
If you're considering Sage Green, be aware that the finished colour may be very different from what the marketing suggests. A disappointing outcome from a company whose reputation has long been built on doing exactly what it says on the tin.

We bought 2.5l tin of Ronseal garden paint to paint a garden seat but the consistency is very thin and watery despite lots of stirring , 3 coats not achieved any decent coverage. Contacted ronseal and after an swering multiple questions they deemed it to be down to stirring with a cane which was they say to thin to adequately mix it despite stirring repeatedly for a good amount of time. Rubbish response and no solution despite it being not fit for purpose. I suppose trading standards might be next step.

This person mariomaid me send pictures in nd every thing in .I told him I had no receipt. And he used it against me..what a clever young man...I asked him to pass it o to a manager. And he didnt...that was very mean an unsatisfied customer.

After preparing the deck with great care, with a wire brush, then sweeping and vacuuming ,I used Ronseal oil on an exterior wooden deck, on top of the same product 2 years prior.

The first coat dried in an appropriate time and looked good. The next day I applied a 2 nd coat and it immediately “Fisheyed”

I stopped and called customer service. They initially told me that I waited too long between coats and that I should re sand everything.
It was a dry , mildly sunny day , and with no humidity.

Upon receiving my photos and other information I was informed that my preparation was inadequate, even though the first coat dried beautifully.

I am totally dissatisfied with this product and customer service.
Don’t use this product and certainly don’t expect any help when things don’t work correctly, just poor excuses

I’m surprised that they are still in business after selling such poor products and getting such negative reviews.
ADDITIONALLY, it appears that all complaints are ignored and passed off as with the same Bull—— , stock response.

A very unhappy last time customer !!!!!

Fence life plus. Very thin with dreadful coverage. Requires two coats on sawn timber but 4 on planed wood, even with a sprayer. Loads of brush marks after two coats and I anticipate four will still look rubbish. It might be cheap, but there's a reason. Don't waste your money!

Used Ronseal wood Paint for my garage doors.Gave up after first small door.Absolutely useless and a complete waste of money It's thin, doesn't cover and I wasted my timed and money so now have gone onto something else.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. NOT CHEAP BUT DOES NOT DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN.

I have been using Ronseal paint for my fence for a good number of years, I wouldn't use anything else. The coverage, the look, the length of time it lasts in between coats is just amazing. I contacted Ronseal recently with a query, I got a reply within a matter of hours, great service. Keep up the good work.

Your customer service advisor was very polite and helpful when i explained my problem with my fence sprayer

If I could give 0 stars I would, I purchased 2 9ltr tubs of warm stone as I was wanting a warm finish to my fence panels, I have 29 to do and the last thing I wanted was a cool colour especially grey as I lothe the colour and it doesn’t go with the paving in my garden. I get to opening the paint give it a stir and start painting it’s that watery i can not do if by brush so I use a professional sprayer, 4 coats in and it’s as grey as you like. I emailed to complain as I don’t see why I should have to put up with a colour I didn’t want and I was told it was within the range of colour you should expect from this colour. Very annoyed and dissatisfied
