I recently sold my old cell phone through The Whiz Cells and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Entering the details for my device was easy to input and walk through, and the entire process was hassle-free — it didn't cost me anything to ship my device to them, and there was no pressure to accept the offer or not.

The shipping, communication, and receiving the evaluation details were all significantly faster than I expected. I also received a fair and competitive value for my device that matched or beat what other companies offering the same service were quoting. There was no need to shop around going from store to store hunting for the best price. Providing the details online and mailing it in for free was easy enough to do without much effort at all.

The one area I'd love to see improved is the device condition grading process. A more detailed checklist of specific conditions would go a long way — for example, distinguishing between minor surface scratches and deeper ones, noting whether the device powers on, whether there are dead pixels on the screen, and other relevant details. I'd also love the ability to submit photos of all sides of the device ahead of mailing it in to receive a preliminary evaluation. This would not only help sellers set accurate expectations upfront, but could also improve efficiency and reduce costs for the company by avoiding shipping expenses for customers who ultimately decide not to sell.

Before using the service, I did take the time to read through reviews from previous customers. Some of those reviews reflected what I'd consider unrealistic expectations about the value of their devices. To their credit, The Whiz Cells backed up their offers with photos clearly showing the poor condition of those devices — conditions that many other companies would likely not even accept in the first place. A small offer is better than nothing at all, and the fact that the company provided picture proof to support their evaluation speaks to their transparency and integrity. Honestly, when you look at those photos, it becomes clear that some customers simply aren't being realistic. If those same people were on the buying side and someone offered them a device in that condition, they wouldn't want it — or they'd only pay a fraction of what they expected to receive. Those customers would benefit from stepping into the company's shoes and getting a dose of reality about what their device is actually worth in that state.

Overall, a smooth and refreshingly simple experience. I'd recommend The Whiz Cells to anyone looking to sell their old phone without the hassle.

It was the old bait and switch….they gave me a quote and once they got the phone, they lowered it by $40

The process was fast, easy, and hassle-free. The price was lower than quoted, and I realize I wasn't as critical of the condition due to self-bias. I was very pleased with the small price reduction. They paid out in under 24 hours after inspection.
I definitely would sell to again

I’ve sold several devices across different sites, and TheWhizCells, by far, paid out the fastest. My money was in my PayPal by the next day after receiving my items, whereas other sites it took a week.
Their review of my items was fair. One item, they paid outright the original online quote, the other was slightly downgraded, which was fair. They provided pictures and reasoning for the drop in price, which I didn’t dispute. Had I disputed it, there was always the offer to have my item returned to me.
Overall, it was a positive experience, and plan to use their services again in the future.

Can't prove it, but I believe the initial price they give you after they get your phone is extremely low. Then an email arrives from the "owner" giving you a better offer, but still low.
I did receive a check today. At least that part is good.

They said my phone had a scratch on the screen and cut the value. The phone has never been dropped or abused in any way. The Walmart kiosk made me a better offer.

Super great experience. Had a little hiccup sending my device in the USPS carrier. Wanted me to have a box not just a envelope but once I got that figured out sent it in and was super fast. I got paid from an Amazon gift card. totally recommend

They communicated with me regarding how to delete my iCloud in order to sell the phone. I appreciated the ability to send the phones with a paid mailing label. I was just disappointed that the original quote was not what was offered once they got the phones, based on the battery. iPhone batteries never last long and these phones weren’t too bad

There was an issue with my phone being locked/unlocked but they waited until I worked it out with Xfinity and I got the price quoted...very satisfied!

I’ve been using these guys for years. It’s at the point I’ve stopped looking at other sites for quotes for trading in and just go with them. They have the best communication and fastest payouts by far.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Whiz Cells. I was initially quoted $216 for my phone, which I accepted in good faith. However, after they received the device, they drastically reduced the offer to just $50, claiming there was a “spot” on the screen.

The issue is—there was no spot. The phone was not faulty, and even the photo they provided does not clearly show any damage that would justify such a significant price drop. It feels misleading and unfair to change the value so drastically after the fact.

This process ended up being a complete waste of my time. I packaged and sent my phone based on their original quote, only to be lowballed without valid justification. I would not recommend this company if you’re expecting transparency or fair evaluation.

Update: After my initial review, Whiz Cells reached out and clarified that the original $50 offer was sent in error. They corrected the offer to $150 and honored it. I appreciate them taking responsibility and resolving the issue.

While the initial confusion was frustrating, I’m updating my rating to reflect their effort to make things right.
