The Film Safe is an Independent Film Developing Lab based in Southampton, UK. It is run by Hope and Jack, the founders of the company in 2021. Our services include: Film developing of C41 and Black and White 35mm and 120 film, scanning at low, medium, high JPEG and high TIFF file sizes on professional Noritsu scanners, printing of 6x4 images on a professional DNP printer and light retouching of images to give you the best possible images back. We also sell a small selection of 35mm films both colour and black and white and a range of merchandise including T-Shirts, stickers, caps and totes. As a lab, we understand that it is not the most eco-friendly service but we take every measure we can to make our services as eco-friendly as possible including eco assured packaging, getting our chemicals removed safely, recycling packaging and giving back 3% to an eco conscious charity - Coral Gardeners alongside the other incredible charties, CALM and Alzheimers Research UK. We work on a 3 day turnaround for colour films and a 5 day turnaround for black and white films and are constantly looking at ways of expanding and improving our services. We wanted to make a lab that was friendly and approachable for the film community, offering advice and support for all things film related. We run a Discord channel where we can be contacted at any time of the day as well as a separate support email to help filter our emails.

had a fantastic experience getting my camera photos developed! The quality of the prints was excellent, with sharp details and vibrant colors. I really appreciated that I received both high-quality hard copies in the post and digital versions electronically, the best of both worlds. The turnaround time was impressively quick too, which made the whole process super convenient. Highly recommend for anyone wanting professional-quality photo development with speedy service!

Great value, great service
The Film Safe have developed and scanned several rolls of film for me now, both colour and black and white 35mm. The turnaround timings are always met and they produce great results. Negatives are stored safely and they also have a good range of film available to purchase as well. Highly recommended.

The Film Safe are fantastic – I wouldn’t go anywhere else with my film. Their customer service is always so friendly and personal, and the quality of their film development is second to none. The best colour processing I have…
The best colour processing I have experienced. I used to use take it easy lab and both are good but I think the film safe is far superior - the only drawback is that within the 1 day turnaround photos do tend to come late in the evening.
