We’re so useful throughout the whole process, the surveyor called me to talk me through the survey, also put my mind at ease knowing that if the purchase was to fall through at any point that I was fully protected! would 100% recommend.

Where have they gone? Really proactive and persistent at sales stage, which I foolishly thought was a good sign. Instructed, paid and waited. The surveyor they told me they had instructed is not longer even at the company they told me they had booked. I eventually managed to get through to the surveyor’s operation manager and they have processed the job after digging out an email. There is no proper process in place. Meanwhile, no luck contacting Surveyor Local (their customer service email inbox is rejecting mail) and have been told it would have been £200 cheaper with another firm. My advice? Just pick one, check their reviews and go direct. Don’t bother with this third party.

From making my initial enquiry for an estimate online to speaking to Joshua to accept the estimate was smooth and informative. Joshua was polite, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, he explained the next process clearly and within a few hours, I had an email confirming that I had a date book for my survey within a week. I cannot ask for a better level of service.

Josh, so oriented, for me, no need to think about the surveyor, and the legal part of the process, I got it all in the package.

Mark McLauchlan has been my strong right arm throughout my house buying process. I am not quite there yet, but nearly (fingers crossed). I am on my second attempt to purchase a house - my first attempt was aborted due to structural issues with the house. I opted to insure my cash outlay for £150, and I'm glad I did. I had spent about £1300 (including the insurance) during my first attempt, and all of the money that I had paid was transferred to my second attempt. Every penny, except the £30 I paid direct to the solicitor for ID checks. So it saved me over £500 for the survey, over £600 for the initial solicitor's fees, and of course the £150 insurance rolled on and is still protecting my outlay in case this purchase also falls through. Amazing!
Honestly though, it's not just the money I've saved. Buying a house is a very stressful thing to have to do on your own, but using this company has made it feel like I have a team behind me. Fantastic service. What a difference it has made for me. I cannot recommend these guys enough. Ask for Mark McLauchlan, you wont regret it!

Mark is a great professional. He took his time to understand my enquiry and then recommended the best survey level for me. Based on the surveyor's report, we thankfully did not progress with the purchase. I have subsequently booked another survey for a 2nd property as I enjoyed the service I was offered the first time.

The response from Surveyor Local was very quick and I was promptly contacted even though it was Saturday morning. It was easy to get the ball rolling with arranging the survey and took just a few minutes. Payment was taken at the end of the call so it is worth having your card ready. The next steps were clearly explained.

I had issue with final solicitors bill and am still waiting for promised help.
Better just getting survey and picking a solicitor yourself.
Solicitors they appointed were very difficult to contact and very unhelpful.

But it was pretty annoying that I got a quote from them and for a whole week they kept calling me many times a day despite I was ignoring it. I wanted to do my research before I contact any of the provider.

Smooth process for finding surveyors not related to anyone in our buying process. I hit a bug with their online quote system, but they called to follow up and resolved it swiftly.

The agent was very helpful, explained everything to me and was very polite. Hopefully now it will continue with the surveyor doing his job,

Surveyor local was very quick to reply, and most useful of all they are contactable at the weekends, which allows you to book them in when ever you need to.

It all sounds good on the website and from the representative you speak to, but the experience was different.
I have used them once before and it seems to go all well, until I needed to ask questions (by email) from the surveyor, which he did not even acknowledge, let alone answer. I needed to get an idea of the damp issues he found. It would have been helpful to know the level he had measured. I had no answer, we needed to crack on with the paperwork, so I simply gave up. After the purchase we found out the damp was extensive and we needed two whole walls damp proofed and re-plastered.
I have decided to give this company another go. They advertise to have a large panel of surveyors. After getting a quote I asked when a survey could be booked in, as we are on a tight timescale for this. I was told, as soon as the payment was confirmed, it would be booked in. I paid within 30 minutes and had an email that it was received and a survey would be booked in with the estate agent. I had nothing from them or from any of the surveyors for over 2 weeks, so I called.
They told me that even that I paid on the 23rd of May the surveyor has no availability until the 15th. I was not given that information at any point until I rang on the 7th. The girl on the phone told me that I can cancel if I like. Well, it is now far too late for that and she was not prepared to do anything to help at all.
Later that day I spoke to the estate agent and found out that the surveyor was not even booked in for the 15th. She needed to contact him to get this sorted.
As it transpired they only have one surveyor 'in my area', which is clearly not enough for a county town (Maidstone).
After this second bad experience I will definitely not go with them again!!!

Rating a one at present. I booked and paid for my full survey on 12th May. Over £800 was taken and I received a payment receipt. Since then I've had absolutely no contact from anyone. Survey was due to go ahead on 18th and results to be expected 7 days later. We're now approaching 3 weeks and still no word on whether it went ahead or what the outcome was. Have chased surveyor local twice and been told that they'll call the surveyors and find out. No updates since then. Asked for the surveyors number and am calling myself only to be sent to answerphone countless times. I'll be requesting a full refund by the end of the week if I hear nothing.
