Lost the previous pairs, and told this in a Facebook comment. Not much later I got reaction from SE and got the new ones with leash for a great discount. Works great and didn't lose them. Don't want to get a surgery again on my ears. 🤙

Great Ear Plugs
After trying a couple different ear plugs and not finding ones that worked well I thought I would try these. Well worth the money. They keep water out but you can still hear people talking which is of course a huge plus.

Love ‘em!
Every time I get in the water I use them, whether it’s deep into the winter or summer, wind or no wind, sweet or salt water- they’re coming with me. They keep the water out and there’s a degree of sound you can hear.
On top of this, if there’s a piece that breaks with the regular wear and tear, you can buy spare parts. While I was waiting for them I still decided to buy a second pair. Due to the different sizes available, young kids and adults can use them alike.
Would highly recommend them for swimming, surfing, windy/cold days - I can’t miss them!

The lack of instruction on how to use…
The lack of instruction on how to use them, especially if you're not an avid swimmer/surfer, was awful....and everything in the set bunched together on one cord was confusing, sizes/which piece goes together and all you have for reference is a small paper band holding everything together....BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY!!

Keeps water out - but tape falls off
I have tried 5-10 other models and finally a pair that keeps water out. Love it.
Unfortunately every 9-12 month the outer black tape falls off, and I have to buy the spare part (core with mesh).

Comfortable to wear but useless at keeping water out.
I bought a set of V3 SurfEars from my local surf shop a couple of days ago and I'm pretty shocked at how bad they are for keeping water out. I made certain to check fitment of different sized grommets before getting in the water. I ended up on size M grommets on the large wings. Once in the water the left plug fell out within 20min (thanks for the lanyard) and the surf was only 2ft high. The right plug just straight up leaked. I used to own the first edition of the SurfEars years ago. They weren't great and I had hoped that all these years later the V3s would be better. But they're not and all that seems to have been updated is the fancy case you get with them. Do not waste your money and time because these ear plugs do not deliver on the promise they market with, "Let Sound in, Keep Water Out".

First, since you tried size M, I think you should give it a try with size L aswell. SurfEars are designed to fit shallow in the ear canal so that people with Surfer's ear / bone growth can use them without problems. Maybe even try different sizes in each ear since every ear is unique and different.
The silicone tip has two possible positions depth wise, so you can choose to wear it further in or out depending on your preference. When you put it on the plastic core part, notice a subtle click which is the first position (deeper) and then the second click which is the second and shallower fitting. The eartips doesn't have to sit super snug press fit against your ear canal to seal properly, it's enough that they just touch the skin all around. The most important is that they seal well enough and keep a pocket of warm air in your ear.
If your preference is absolute water tightness, then wear larger eartips that fit snugly.
I hope this will help you! We will keep working towards making an earplug that will be suitable for as many people as possible and we appreciate all feedback that will help us along the way!

Great product so far, and some suggestions to broaden appeal..
I found it easy to interchange the sizes for the earplugs - I need the wider plugs and the smaller cap pieces. My previous earplugs had been hurting my ears, and also were pushing wax down onto my ear drum - eventually resulting in fungal growth and ear infections. Surf Ears are a lot shorter plugs, so hopefully this issue will not recur. Takes a bit of getting used to hearing yourself swim! But it is great not to have to take earplugs out to talk to folks - a game changer. I find I still get a small amount of water leaking into my bad ear though.... might just be a matter of fiddling with how well I fit them into my ear to find the right spot. I will be recommending Surf Ears to swim instructors I work with - great to be able to demonstrate technique and still hear the kids without resulting in ear aches during the term. SUGGESTION - for swimmers, a string that we can use to attach the ear plugs individually to each side of our goggles would be handy - eliminate the long dangly string behind, which can get caught in long hair and also tickles your back as you swim (a bit unnerving in the ocean). This would also work for swim instructors in outdoor pools - be able to attach them to our sunglasses or hat.

Whilst these are comfortable to use, water does penetrate the ears and once there, you might as well take these off as makes it then uncomfortable to use. Have tried all combinations of fittings.

Best ear plugs I have had
The earplugs are very comfortable and have many adjustment options. Also, the case is extremely well built. I decided to try Surfears because my last ear plugs block so much sound that I felt disoriented while surfing. The experience so far has been great.
