I have been paying them $30 / mo for the past 5 months thinking I was accumulating credits, come to find out in the fine print they do not roll the credits over essentially robbing you and giving you nothing in return. Horribly unethical business model. On top of that they make it impossible to cancel your account online, you are forced to call and wait on hold and then pay $100 fee to cancel. I hope this company goes bankrupt with these disgusting business practices. It costs 10 credits ($30) to download a single video. I will make sure to let as many people as possible know to avoid Shutterstock and go with one of their many competitors.

Agree with all the terrible reviews. Submitted 10 different photos and all of them rejected with explanations I could not understand. Complete waste of time.

I am a shutterstock contributor, I feel the reviewers can do better by further explaining reasons why an image was rejected rather than outrightly rejecting an image. For example, "Invalid Model Release: One or more of the attached model releases does not meet our requirements." I checked the model release and found out that the only issues was the model's signature was not there. They can do more to make things easy for us as contributors.

I was unaware that the subscription was autorenewal so after seeing a bank deduction I logged in to check. The option to view/cancel subscriptions is long winded and far from intuitive. This smacks of subscription trap to me. Coupled with the other Trustpilot reviews from artwork contributors the only recommendation I can give is AVOID.

My experience was so poor that I deleted my account after a couple of days. Their acceptance criteria is ridiculous and random, often also incorrect, and photos that I have easily sold elsewhere including on other sites were rejected for incomprehensible reasons. I also hear that if you do actually earn any money at all, they make it extremely difficult for you to get paid. Frankly, they aren't worth the hassle.

I do not recommend this company.
They have reduced the commission for photographers drastically. They basically make a mockery of contributing photographers. They have no respect for those who basically help them exist.

The worst stock agency that I sell on. For some reason, my photos all started to get rejected despite them getting accepted on all the other agencies, including iStock, who I consider to be the best agency. I wondered if it was because I had recently added a profile picture to my Shutterstock profile page and someone who was reviewing didn’t like how I looked. Once I removed the picture, sure enough, my images started getting accepted again. Pathetic jobsworth staff.

An OK choice available but often dull, not really anything original/exciting - hugely overpriced if a good image is available.
The auto-renewing without notifying the customer feels like a cheap, deceitful tactic, totally unacceptable.

I have not uploaded submissions nor even reached the verification of my account when I tried logging in to find out they disabled my account. I emailed them to find out why my account has been disabled. I get a reply telling me that they found suspicious activity WITHOUT SPECIFYING IN DETAIL. Towards the end of the email, they tell me the matter is closed and no further inquiries are addressed! That is horrible customer service. They failed to properly address what I did wrong. Like I said, I wasn’t even close to verifying my account so I was not even close to uploading ANYTHING. They just sent me articles from their Terms and Conditions. I am displeased with the service. It seems as if they have thousands of submitters so they do not care about newcomers.

They blanket-rejected every single one of my submissions for being out of focus :-) Yeah...OK. Don't waste your time.

Whos content is worth 10c. Shutterstock contributors content! There are stocks that give contributors fair amount of an image sale, Shutterstock choose company revenue above loyal contributors.
