Honestly, the problem was me, I guess. I am battling cancer and preparing for a long stay in a hospital and convalescent facility, and I wanted to make sure I would be able to read while I was physically limited, so I jumped at the advertised offer that Stanton constantly promotes offerring 2 pairs of glasses, ready same day, and in as little as half an hour. Your nearest store is about an hour's drive for me, but nobody local has a comparable offer, so I made an appointment, made the drive, and presumed I could keep myself busy for a few hours in South Bend while my glasses were processed.
After the exam, I went and chose a pair of frames from the advertised special tier of options, and two more from the next level higher, since it did not seem like an unreasonable upsell for the styles I picked. When I went to close the deal at one of the showroom desks, I was informed that the advertised special was in reality going to cost me more than I anticipated ($164), and because the next level ones would also be a significant jump above my budget, I decided to stick with the 'special'. I needed the glasses, I needed them quick, and I wasn't too worried about looking stylish for the hospital anyway.
It turns out 'quick' is as relative a term as 'deal', or, 'special', as I learned that my glasses did not fall under whatever stipulations qualified them for same day availability. I was told it would take a week-to-ten days to get them, the latter date being beyond the time when I was due to be admitted to the hospital. The salesperson told me that they often arrived sooner, but, if it came down to it, they might be able to give them to someone on my behalf so long as they had the receipt in case I couldn't make it. Lacking any other options at that moment, I made the hour drive home without my new eyewear. I did receive an email less than a week later, informing me that one pair of glasses had arrived, but the others were still pending. My hospital admission had been postponed for a few days, so I decided towait to see if the second pair would arrive in time, or, I would simply make the trip for the one pair and figure out how to get the others later. Thankfully, they did arrive soon enough that I was able to make the trip back up to Mishawaka to get them.
The glasses themselves seem fine, but when I factor in the cost of driving, the time taken to make the trips (and the physical/psychological toll of dealing with my impending medical care), I feel as I would have been better off paying the excess someplace closer to home.
I get it. I have worked in retail/service situations where the price-to-benefit offered often has an asterisk and/or some fine print, and its my fault for not being more dilligent about it. I understand it is not an effective strategy to make that info more obvious in the advertising, but I wish that once I'd made the appointment, some greater effort would have been made to bring the 'ifs', 'ands', and 'buts' to my attention. At the very least, a warning to anyone who has to travel a significant distance in the name of convenience could be flagged that 'the deal' that the advertising bombards us with is a 'terms and conditions apply' and the travelling for it may not work out as the sales pitch promises.
That said, the employees that I dealt with were professional and pleasant, even though they seemed a little spread thin against the number of customers that needed attention.

The employees were super nice. I couldn't believe the 1st pair were made while we waited. The 2nd pair arrived in only 1 week. The bundle price fit in my budget just fine.

They were all so nice and someone didn't show up and they were busy and still got me in. Whem I went to pick up my glasses they remembered me right away

My appointment was at 1:30 and I wasn't seen until about 40 minutes after due to the fact that walk ins get seen with the same priority as scheduled appointments. The doctor I spoke to was nice and informative about the health of my eyes..however after waiting such a long time to get my glasses not only were they only able to complete one pair within an hour of me leaving and coming back for them as instructed, but when I got home I noticed the lenses were jiggling inside of the frames and popped out the next morning while I was wearing them.

My contacts were supposed to be ready on 2/21. Today, the website says they were “picked up.” I thought I was going to have them delivered to my house. Very poor tracking and order is not ready after 1 week.

I want to mention Your Manager.
I want to mention due to the situation she was in and with what I experienced my first visit she was the upmost Amazing at making the situation correct. Her ability to multi-task whilst holding it together, with a customer whom had a complaint or correction to be made, she was very professional, prompt, training a new hire, and was truly able to show her value of Stanton Optical.
The only thing I would highly suggest Stanton Optical do differently, adjust, and tweak is your booking systems and appointment scheduler.
Its overwhelming to your staff when 4 people walk-in, book on-line, book by phone, and let's not forget the Dr's.
All in all I will return as a customer and Dr. Gish performed a task I've never had done before . I told him that I appreciated the way he used a task ive never seen.

Got a pair of glasses from Stanton optical on 1-8-2024 and they are worn out all ready they give you a 30 day warranty and I got the best progressive lenses shot in 3 months
I headed to Stanton Optical after I was told by another eye doctor that they didn't accept VSP. I walked in to see if they had an appointment available, but there were none available at that time. I asked if they accepted VSP, and the customer service associate said they did. I would not have scheduled an appointment with Stanton Optical if I had known they were out of network. Now I have a $268 bill coming my way. I already paid around $150 for contacts, which I have yet to receive (my appointment was 8/25, it is now 9/19). I'm livid. They were not forthright with me.
