I felt that perhaps the processes with which he had to work, especially across functions, were not the most smooth (so the 4 star is for Standard Life overall), but he always managed to get the right result.

we found the process of the lifetime mortgage daunting, also we lost the first advisor after going through the all the information we had to take in.the second advisor put us through the same forms yet again but at the end of the day we can now see why we had to go through this process to understand what we where signing up to.but we thank you for all the work you put into our case and everything went through with no problems at pace at the end.

This whole sorry tale gets worse by the day. I have now discovered during a night spent just sitting in a chair that these super secret solicitors that no one can know their name or have no contact with are no longer fully registered with the FCA. How and why they were registered once and no longer are I will leave to any one's imagination. This means that should any one wish to make a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman it will be most likely thrown out due to the fact that one has used an un-fully registered company. Even though you had no choice or where not infomed of the unregistered status of Enact prior to commencement. Is this legal? I always thought you had to have full knowledge of all the facts to enable you to make an informed decision. Perhaps someone can help me out on that one

Yesterday afternoon a representative from Standard Life contacted me. She wasn't rude but was at first quite defensive. I felt it was my fault. After trying to get her to stop, and allow me to speak she calmed down and listened. She promised to contact their elusive solicitors and find what the hold up is. See managed that alright! On what is approximately four weeks since they made me the offer, my solicitor has contacted the estate agent, who is now so worried about my mental health status that she contacted my son and told him that another batch of questions are expected this afternoon.
It is a 20 year old property in a prime urban area. The percentage of interest of Standards Life's interest in the property is so small, if the house fell over tomorrow the land would more than pay their interest. How do I cope wth this. The representative of Standard Life left me no contact details.
PLEASE EVERYONE WHO HAS., LIKE ME, WORKED ALL THEIR LIVES TO BE AN INDEPENDANT TAX PAYER IN MY RETREMENT. DO NOT DEAL WITH STANDARD LIFE IF YOU VALUE YOUR SANITY
Recently widowed, I took out an equity release plan called a Porting Mortgage. As I know I would be moving back to a more expensive area. I thought do it now it will help cut some of the pressure when I did actually move. It was horrendous. The IFA reckoned he had a full head of hair when we started. So a year later I decided to move, using my Porting Mortgage I thought it would be quick and easy as I had been though the agony in advance. NO WAY!! Two application forms went missing, the moving team are very special as they do not communicate with mere mortals. Finally got a survey done. Weeks go by, emails by the dozen to the elusive moving team. Finally got a mortgage offer. Moving Team then passed everything to their solicitors. No name, no contact number, even your own solicitor can't contact them.
Everything has to go back to the moving team who are the only people of a high enough status to communicate with these higher mortals called their solicitors, even my own solicitors are banned from speaking directly to the elite team of solicitors. My solicitor had a tantrum and put my bill up by £250. So it's now 17/10/23 Silence. Every body is trying to be pleasant to me, but of course it is seen as my fault for holding up the entire process. But how do contact the uncontactable to move things along and make them aware of the utter misery they are causing. Nearly £1000 this has cost me for silence. Any ideas? Except jumping under the nearest train.

From the moment we finally decided to go through with Equity Release and conveyed the details to Key Advice Solutions it took three weeks for the funds to go through. They did not have to hold our hands too much as the process was very straight forward and any questions quickly clarified.
They are also handling our new wills and Powers of Attorney and so far this is going just as smoothly.
