I did a taster session with Ben…
I did a taster session with Ben Andrews. He was kind and supportive and was easy to talk with. It felt like he had true passion in helping me to get good at 3D modelling. I have done 3D game design before and all the teachers have the same kindness and compassion. I truly appreciate Software Academy.

Good Private Tuition, but Very Disappointed by the Graduation Arrangements
Overall, our experience with Software Academy has been mixed.
We initially started with group classes, but unfortunately the first couple of sessions were largely taken up with other children downloading and setting up the required software, which meant very little teaching could actually take place. That may well have been an isolated experience, and Software Academy may have improved this since.
We then moved to private tuition, which has worked much better for us. The one-to-one support has been a real positive, and our son has benefited from having dedicated time with his tutor.
The major disappointment, however, has been graduation. This is now the second year in a row that our son has completed a qualification with Software Academy but has not been able to attend his own graduation because places have sold out.
As a university lecturer who has worked in education for over 20 years, I find this very difficult to understand. Graduation is such an important part of recognising a learner’s achievement, and the idea that a student can complete a qualification but not be able to attend the event intended to celebrate that achievement is, to me, extremely disappointing.
We have spent a considerable amount each month on private tuition over the past two years, so it is frustrating that our son has now missed this milestone twice. We had been considering continuing next year and potentially enrolling him on further programmes, but this has genuinely made us reconsider. We do not want to continue investing significant amounts of money only for him to miss out on celebrating his achievements again.
I appreciate that venues have capacity limits and that tickets are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, but I do think Software Academy needs to review how graduation is organised. Whether that means a larger venue, more than one ceremony, or a different booking system, every learner who completes a qualification should, as far as reasonably possible, have the opportunity to attend.
There have been positives, particularly with the private tuition, but this repeated issue has left us very disappointed.

We are very sorry that he has missed the graduation ceremony twice. We understand how important it is for students and families to celebrate this achievement. Our NCFE qualifications are growing in popularity very quickly, with over 2,000 students graduating each year, which has created significant demand for ceremony places.
We notified parents three weeks in advance, sent further reminders, and gave Private Tuition families 30 minutes’ early access to booking. However, we recognise that this has still not been enough. Management is seriously considering a larger venue for next year, although capacity will remain limited.

Software Academy have been great at making Architecture visualisation accessible for young people.My children have learnt a new skill for life. Making the course more interactive could give a better experience to a younger audience. The staff is very supportive.

Great taster session!
The taster session with Eden Smithbury was very helpful for my daughter. It was great to see what she could do on Photoshop, including creating animations. We’ve already subscribed and I’ll definitely recommend it to parents who want to give their children a good start.
