Loud inverter installed beside bedroom…

Loud inverter installed beside bedroom window. Unsatisfactory customer service, I have had to reach out to try to get a resolution. They ask for information I have already sent in, slow to respond, still no resolution.

Living with a constant whining noise from the inverter when the sun is shining. Terrible.

Terrible!

Horrible pricing double the price of any other company ,do some research and save some serious money. Now recently I have received a voucher for $200 visa credit card. Smart Energy almost made me file bankruptcy with these ridiculous $900 bills it has scared me into shutting the main breaker off ever day before I leave for work, this is so unfair this review is for SMART Energy from Columbus, Ohio.

Recent Installation

Conrad was a wealth of knowledge and understood our needs and concerns, was a great help organising finance and the installation was quick

Don’t trust.

If you are too hard to deal with, company just basically ignores you. I have had issues since having my battery installed. It started as a connection issue between the battery and the wifi. Finally smart energy agreed to try and fix the issue after a lot of back and forth and refusing to take any responsibility at all for the battery not connecting successfully and constantly showing as offline through the app. This was completed 2 weeks ago now. It worked on the day the specialist came out and did the work for about an hour. I contacted smart energy that night to say it was showing as offline again. I received a call the following business day to say that they could see it was showing offline. I was given instructions to reboot my battery. The picture and instruction did not match my battery setup which I requested someone to call from 4.15 pm to assist with rebooting. This has now been 2 weeks without any response to my email request or my follow up emails.

It feels like basically that they would rather put it in a too hard basket and ignore problems rather than actually help customers. The whole situation has left a sour experience and would never trust this company for any future purchases or installations.

Formal Complaint

We are writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the installation of our solar hot water system and battery backup system that we purchased through Smart Energy.

In October 2025 we accepted a quote and paid the full amount of $16,000.00 for the installation of both a solar hot water system and a battery backup system. While the hot water system was installed, the battery backup system has never been installed.

From October through November 2025 we repeatedly contacted Smart Energy to follow up on the installation of the battery. During this period we were continually advised that the matter would be resolved, however no installation occurred.

In January 2026 we formally requested a refund for the battery component of the system. At that time we were advised that a refund would be processed within 5–10 working days. It is now March 2026 and we are still waiting, while continuing to receive inconsistent information when we contact your company.

We therefore request an immediate refund of $10,000.00, being the amount paid for the battery backup system that has not been installed.

If this matter is not resolved within 7 days of receipt of this letter, we will have no option but to escalate the complaint to the Office of Fair Trading Queensland and lodge a formal complaint under Australian Consumer Law.

We would prefer to resolve this matter directly with Smart Energy and look forward to your prompt response.

Don’t do it!!

If you do your homework, there are cheaper places to get your electricity from and if you have solar? They don’t give you a surplus credit like Eversource does here in New Hampshire. Trying to get that $200 gift card after your 6 months is up, is like pulling teeth. It’s been almost 3 months, and still no gift card. I sent that coupon they give you at the end of my 6 months in December, it is now mid March. I call them and they say I must of sent it to the wrong address. The address is right on the coupon!! Never again!

Good communication and advice

Good communication and advice from Connor Lucas. Sophie Stewart’s installation team showed up on time, the installation was neat and tidy and the site clean when they had finished. They also stayed and provided advice on usage and installing the app’s and getting them configured and up and running.

It would have to be the sub contractors…

It would have to be the sub contractors that came and installed the battery and then fix a fault ASAP.
Once the fault was located and fixed the Solar Battery works very well with the ABB 6.3Kw Invertor. Already at 100% and feeding in to the grid. The AlpaESS App I can see everything going on in a glance even with its fancy animation looks good.
With Power companies these days when you have Solar Power the feed in cost is lucky to be .02 cents per Kwh now it will be over 10c through Smart Energy. Now having the Solar Battery should be able to see very low power bills at least its what I am predicting. I will see with in a year from now and compare the usage and savings from the previous years.

Couldn't be happier…

Nathan the sales consultant explained everything clearly and was well informed about the product. He did not push us to sign up but explained how we would benefit from doing so. His post installation service has been brilliant and he has contacted us several times to ensure our satisfaction. Ryan, who did the installation was professional and courteous in every way. He performed his task with as little interruption to us as possible and left the site immaculate.

Smart energy is a piece of shit

I was tricked into getting them because I don't know anything about electricity my bill skyrocketed for next month I have to pay close to $800. I'm canceling with them on Monday and ripping them apart I'd say sorry to the messenger but work for a better company
