greedy scam site to subscribers, to tour guide appliers; it might be secretive , lucrative income site without paying any tax to local government. Any applier without an official screen is a tour guide? " I make a social proposition to all tour app site, that ; all the private local tour guide applier is to be of free service. Only after tour service,Tip is recommended."
Most of so-called, would-be tour guide in their profiles, about 95 % people don't respond at all. They are all dead profiles. I had paid 1 year subscription before. I don't trust this site anymore. I occasionally contacted with them. Period! it's no hiring; I had met them with the local tour guide licence, also college graduated professional in those travel and art company, they were OK,quite a few became a good cyber friend as well. But only 2 or 3 peoples among more than 30 contacts I had kept in touch with, from Balkan, to Middle East, North Africa and South Asia are reliable, professional tour guides. Other ones are all pathetic amateurs, just nothing but the loitering players. Yet I had to give them enough tip what they want for pity, too. Besides,without this related profession or licence, they seemed to be very poor, lazy, don't like hard work of manual labor and also very ignorant, have no any job skills to survive, only learned a little bit how to speak English; therefore very rude, haughty and had no etiquette of meeting, and welcoming foreign tourists, so they hurt a lot of tourist feelings, too.(Maybe because of jealousy and envy!) Absolutely No training at all. Some are like mental patient teenager of bi-polar personality, quickly changing temper in their mood as well. Some people looked like an escort, or wanted a romantic date, and complained a lot about their country, and they wanted to move to other developed country for visa. These kind of local guides are all illegal to my point of view!!! Do total strangers from Travel App meet each other without knowing their credentials, anonymously guide to unknown corner, somewhere, or secluded mountains, lakes and rivers; either a totally unknown stranger posing as a tour guide, come to airport aggressively to pick you up. They could be an instant terrorist or amateur, secret hookers, and one member of linked, hidden group criminals, No?; Yah? How can you trust them? All the nation must prohibit this private tour guide without a proper license and supervision. It's like a private taxi driver, unregistered officially to city transportation board.
And also I found out recently this Showaround support team enlisted my negative review about a young Nepali crook girl of newly learned scammer by my request, but one day later, the Showaround support team removed the negative review. I suspect Support team removed by her request or looks like they may had mutual agreement to remove bcz of shame. Why? I see her quickly made new profile, saying she had to delete former account, haha! What an instant crook! What kind of negative review?( After 3 days of talking by WhatsApp and meeting, this abnormal-looking, hooked-nose girl coming to hotel "Suddenly pay me my double fee! You didn't pay me before, requested forked- tongued, double money, otherwise threatening, call the police! stuff") Yeah! These scammers threaten a lot verbally, or online in these days. I reported this scammer's verbal, cyber crime to related authority. ( It's all illegal working as any tour guide without proper license; in the Charter of Nepali Turgan.) This is all punishable in Nepal. Hey! young new, scam girl, please report your problem to your local police, OK, baby?

And * according * to whatever , I never agreed with anything, I send rejected to everything, they will keep my profile for ever!!!
So yeah,
It's a scam!
They take your profile and make you a * local* to attract people who are genuinely interested in having a tour.
They steal your data and that's all.
I've reported this scam to Google, the all mighty censorship man, he seems to censorship everything, except scams!

seems like its a money grab and a conspiracy. I get the impression they are mostly fake accounts. they want as many people as they can to try it out so they can get a month or two of payments. its a novel idea. if they offered a refund option if you could not find a legit profile that would make it a more honest site.

App requires payment to contact someone. Even tho someone contact you to tour you they do not reply back. Feel scamed

The Showaround in Tunis, Tunisia are immature 20 year olds looking to make a fast buck.

Turns out this app is 50/50 guides/ escort.
But the company itself can't protect you or help you if you get into weird situation with the tourist. As a result you won't be able to find all bad reviews on tourists who are actually looking for escort instead of a guide. I stopped any inappropriate conversation direction from my tourist and didn't accept getting my money for the tour at his room. Obviously he cancelled the real architecture tour next day that was planned as there was not even slightest opportunity to have chilled evening in my company due to my alerted concern why he is not so interested in sight seeing ,but just wants to pay for hanging out. Be careful and use more trustworthy apps. Cause there are many weirdos out there. I was also afraid to leave a review as its too dangerous due to shared some data about yourself during the first hours of the tour while it was still a tour..this app does not protect you in any way. Only trust apps that actually verify profiles.

During a trip to Brazil, I got in touch with 4 locals: 1 was a good local guide for 1 day, 2 (1 girl and 1 boy) fixed a date in advance and the day of the expected meeting found an excuse not to come, 1 girl fixed a date and since then never replied to messages. I'm wondering if most of those people are pretending to offer guiding services but in reality offering something else.

Disgusting. This site promotes itself as a platform to find tour guides. When I tried to find a tour guide for a Brisbane trip, I was disgusted by the sexual offers. It's nothing but a trashy pick up site that anyone and I mean anyone can join as there is NO screening of members. Toursbylocals are now telling Trust Pilot my review is not legitimate. Toursbylocals cannot handle that they are dodgy. Daniell Novytarger and Aswan were my contacts. I am over their threats and false acusations! Bad enough I am lied to over and over, now they are threating me. Canadian thugs !

Well, despite the fact i used this app in many places i went (and delete it when i am not using it) i did not expected that kind of behavior. There was a scammer named Lejla from Sarajevo and her friend Adnan. They both work on showaround and gave themselves reviews to make their profile legit. On a rainy day i wanted to postpone the tour and that guide threatened me, telling me she will send friends to my location while i would not sit in a stranger car. I think it's normal and she started to call me by bad names just because I refuse to come to the place she wanted while I warned her in the morning that if it rains too much and not a little, I won't go. I responded to her criticism and she blocked me then she sended friends to harass me in whatsapp as she knew my number. One of her friend is that adnan. So i immediately report them both in showaround support and they did nothing to help me, claiming that my account is deleted. Right its deleted but you do nothing is someone threaten me, telling me they gonna find my location and that they would report me to the police. The customer support should have at least remove their profile or let my review appear but they did nothing.

I have used Showaound for two trips: Bucharest and, most recently, Vienna. I ended up meeting two really nice locals on both of my trips. HOWEVER, I have to warn you there's a good number of fake profiles and, more problematically, nonactive profiles. Each time, I reached out to about two dozen members, but only a few responded. You need a paid membership to contact locals. There's a chance that you do not hear from anyone after paying a very expensive membership. So, I don't think this website is a scam, but you may end up being cheated out of your money that way.

2. In 3 von 5 Städten gleichwohl dutzende von Reiseführer angezeigt werden keinen aber auch keinen Nachricht erhalten. Für Madrid und Barcelona werden hunderte Reiseführer angeboten gerademal 5 haben geantwortet. In den letzten Tagen kamen dann noch Absagen wo ich mich frage von wem die kamen...
3. Plattform ist außerdem nicht Userfreundlich.

Many fake profiles are there and even after accepting the offer there is no response from the local guide.
I contacted several locals after taking subscription for one month but nobody responds.
I am disappointed with Showaround, it needs drastic changes

To my surprise i was cheated by a guide with only 5 star review. I post a 2 star review for the guide, but it was removed by showaround.
i don't consider a site who remove negative review as reliable.

I use Showaround both as a guide and a traveller.
It's a fantastic way to meet locals. In some cities there are no active people, but in others it's easy to find someone who will even give you tips for free.
Or professionally guide for a smaller or a bigger fee.

I just wish there were no creepy men who are looking for escorts :/ It's so clearly explained that the site is for tours!!!

An unusual and interesting way to see a city thru the eyes of natives but be aware they will try to take money from your account regularly even though you only agree to 1 month, be aware!!

i ordered one month subscription for $20 and they took again next month ..... be careful about the service , this kind of greediness will effect the reliability and trust of the people

I work as local guide and personal shopper in Milan and I used also as traveler . I love this app of course it’s not fault of the app if there are bad people on it looking for a date or escort but u can recognize and avoid cause I just met people interested in a tour or genuine friendship .

There are many inactive accounts ,in many cities the inactive accounts are maybe 90% ,you get no answers.

Very surprised about the fast and excellent service. Found a guide at once and lot of offers. I understand that in some areas there are maybe too little offers, but by using it helps to develop the project. Wish them luck to develop further and find many new guides to offer.
