Fun Moorea Safari
The Moorea Island Safari tour was a very fun experience in a safari-style vehicle with only about 8 people. We saw some beautiful lookout sights, explored a pineapple field, and enjoyed free samples at a distillery and fresh fruit at the end of the tour.
What made this so unique is our vehicle was able to go to places many of the larger cruise buses couldn't reach. It felt like we had the sights to ourselves much of the time. The mountain roads were bumpy here and there, but it added to the feel of being on an adventure. My parents and I both thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
As always, I highly recommend Shore Excursion Group!

Terrible!
Terrible! We booked a private half day tour of Olympia and Katakolon for 6 people. We arrived in Katakolon and followed their instructions to meet our guide outside the port. Their representative there had no record of our booking. She tried to contact the office, as did we, and there was no answer. We also tried the international contact number, but as it was a Sunday morning, and still overnight in the US, there was also no answer. After waiting over half an hour, half our group decided to leave the port and walk around the town. We sent an email asking for a refund. We were also told that it was meant to be a local driver who would just take us to Olympia and wait for us to bring us back, for which we were charged US 795. No guiding, just a driver. We could have got the bus there for 15 Euro. We have subsequently received word that they have refused our refund request. I will never use them again.

The tour did the minimum it said it would so I gave it a 3. We had one bus with what ended up being 2 groups to tour the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. As such each group ended up with about 2 hours of free time. That time mostly ended up being wasted time as it wasn't enough time in a single block to get in line to view St Peter's Basilica or for the bus to at least drive by some other attractions. We also had our tour on a Saturday so our drive into the Vatican took far less time leaving us with an hour of time up front. The guide said if we had time we would stop to see the Colosseum and maybe more but that never happened. We had 3 hours of time but essentially couldn't do anything but walk around outside the Vatican. The tour shouldn't combine two groups onto a single bus. That alone would have given us enough time to get in line to see St Peter's and or to drive by at least a couple of different attractions. Was expecting a lot more on a 10 hour excursion. Very disappointing.

Roman colosseum and imperial forum
We did the Roman colosseum and imperial forum from our cruise ship. I have to say it was very disappointing.
1. The time was stated from 8:15am to 5:30pm. We were done and on our boat by 4:15pm.
2. After the colosseum and imperial forum tour we were given 45 minutes to eat at wherever we want. With the amount of time we had left over we could have easily had an hour and a half so we didn’t have to rush and eat and get to at least walk a little around the area.
3. The woman who took us around the colosseum talked non stop but didn’t actually tell us real stories. She just kept embellishing the history with what she thought the gladiators might have felt. I don’t need her to extrapolate what she thought the gladiators may have felt. I wanted facts and real stories in historical accounts.
4. The guy who took us around the actual city in the car barely gave us any information about the city. He literally just dropped us off and say meet me back in this much time.
Only good thing was that we had a 30 minutes visit of the St. Peter square outside the Vatican.
I felt like I was short at least 30 to 45 minutes time of exploring the city with this tour. For the amount of money they charged I expected a little more.

Best way to find alternatives to cruise line tours
Like the cruise scheduled arrangement. Descriptions are clear. Ship return warranty is a good idea.
Groups can be smaller than cruise ship tours.
