LaCie external back up hard drive only lasted 2 years. Very disappointed, I purchased this through Apple, expecting a quality product to back up my MacBook Pro. It failed, just as the guarantee ran out and both Apple and Seagate confirmed it was a faulty and unrepairable.
Zuverlässig und langlebig – Seagate überzeugt!
Seit über 6 Jahren nutze ich mehrere Seagate-HDD-Festplatten (überwiegend 8TB HDD) im Dauerbetrieb – maximal 3 oder 4 Ausfälle in all der Zeit. Die Platten laufen ruhig, stabil und zuverlässig, auch bei längeren Sessions und höherer Belastung. Im direkten Vergleich zu anderen Herstellern ganz klar eine meiner ersten Wahlen!

les disques dur qu'ils vendent ne son pas neufs,j'en est fais l'expérience sur deux disques dur de 4 t vérifier par mon anti virus.
le premier tomber en panne apres une année verifier a 15000h de fonctionnement( une année?)l'autre acheter il y a 2 mois plus de 3000H avec 380fois ouvert.
On dirais bien les disques dur qui vont en réparation et que l'ont nous dit qu'ils ne sont pas réparables, nous sont revendu pour du neuf.
je ne prendrais plus cette marque.
illegal SCAM cash back marketing promotion - beware!
they are running a cashback promotion which get advertised through retailers but weeks later, i never get paid for the cashback, emailed support, never heard anything. this is a marketing SCAM bait and is illegal in nature. There is also no way to reach anyone for help at Seagate end.

Ik heb de schijf via Coolblue gekocht. Ik heb waarschijnlijk heel veel pech gehad, want alle reviews van de LaCie schijf 2TB die ik had gekocht waren zeer goed. Helaas ging mijn schijf binnen 2 maand stuk, zonder aanwijzing. In eerste instantie had ik hem ter reparatie gestuurd naar Coolblue, wat ik achteraf nooit had moeten doen. Mijn kapotte schijf heb ik retour gevraagd en via de klantenservice van Seagate heb ik een reparatie aanvraag kunnen doen.
Door de klantenservice ben ik onwijs goed geholpen. Ik een Engelse Assistant is snel bereikbaar via chat. Ik legde het probleem uit en kon de harde schijf naar toe toe sturen. Zodra ze mijn harde schijf hadden kreeg ik een nieuwe schijf van 5TB!! Ter compensatie. Tevens heb ik nog een schijf gekregen van 5TB waar mijn geredde bestanden opstaan!!! Ik ben zo blij!!! De schijf sloeg een defect aan, gaf een tikkend gelijk, maar door de technologie van opslag hebben ze mijn bestanden kunnen redden. Ook de manier waarop ik gecompenseerd ben, maakt dat ik zeer content ben over de service van Seagate.

Seagate One Touch Failure
I had a desktop windows issue and transferred all the data to a One Touch that held years of Doc, pic,s music.
The unit was two =months past warrant for free disk rescue, the company honored the recovery and after a few attempts to recover the data was about 80% recovered. The customer service was excellent, timely and informative. Great job customer service, the lab did a great job as well
Seagate Customer Service is Substandard
Seagate Customer Service is of little "service" to their customers. Difficult to access and indifferent. The "Were you satisfied with your CS experience"? Does not exist.
Drive died after two years
Had a Seagate USB drive. Only two years old and only used occasionally as a backup drive. Suddenly went dead, no warning.
Terrible.
Terrible. My external drive stopped working after a few months of owning because the USB was unplugged accidentally while in use, causing the reader to get stuck. They purposefully design the device to be extremely hard to get into to try and fix yourself. Do not trust their drives to backup your data or have anything of value stored on the drive. 4 hours of customer support trying to use my warranty they made me go through hoops and bounds to get a "destruction certificate" because I was unwilling to send a recoverable backup of my entire computer to them. They then gave me the certificate which is a really strange contract to sign, essentially told me to remove the drive and ship them back plastic at my expense to receive a replacement. I tried to reason with them how illogical this is both shipping back plastic and the destruction cert only to get the same faulty model and I was not willing to waste anymore time relying on their awful business practices.
TLDR; I will never use another Seagate product and I will chalk this up as $120 lost. Advising anyone looking to buy any type of storage to shop elsewhere.

The hard drive I was using after 2+ years became corrupt and I lost access to stored files. Upon logging in, the drive was empty.
I was using a data encryption software "iboysoft," and the software was not working.
I spent thousands of dollars trying to recover the data. Overall higly displeased with both companies.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience has been so maddening that I feel morally obligated to warn others. I purchased an external hard drive from Seagate Technology, which failed within the warranty period. It wouldn’t mount, wouldn’t spin up, wouldn’t even show signs of life. I returned the item and was sent a "new" (refurbished) drive, which didn't work at all.
I’ve now spent days trying to get in touch with someone—anyone—from the company. Their phone support? Nonexistent. Their live chat? Either broken or intentionally abandoned. Emails? Ignored - an automated reply sends you to their website.
Bottom line: Seagate sells garbage products and clearly does not care once they have your money. I’m now stuck with a worthless paperweight and no way to recover my data or get a refund. Do yourself a favor—do not buy anything from this company unless you enjoy frustration, wasted money, and being completely ignored when things go wrong.

J'ai acheté un RAID de 16T à environ 800€ pour avoir l'esprit tranquil. Le principe du RAID est qu'en cas de défaillance d'un disque dur de stockage, une copie est faite automatiquement sur un autre disque dure. Le RAID est devenu illissible juste après 5 mois. Donc la garantie devrait fonctionner.

MAIS, évidemment il y a un mais, il ne change pas le disque dure défaillant. Uniquement, il vous demande d'envoyer votre dique dur au pays bas via ups, puis, ils peuvent mettre jusqu'à 30 jours pour seulement essayer de récupérer vos données et vous renvoyer les données récupérées, s'ils les récupèrent.
Votre système RAID ne sera pas remplacé, ni remboursé.
C'est de l'arnaque...

y a t-il un pilote dans l'avion seagate ? j'essaie de joindre le support par différents canaux, sans succès. Ca fait bientôt une heure que je tourne en rond, insupportable ! Le chat n'est pas disponible, le support téléphonique indique de se rendre sur le portail ou le chat n'est pas fonctionnel, le mail indique qu'il ne répond pas en direct et renvoie vers le portail...honteux!
Seagate is a scam - please be aware
You must be lucky if you came here to read reviews before buying anything from Seagate.
I used my Seagate Portable Drive as a storage for my videos. I don't tend to delete old files when adding new files. I just create a new folder for a day of shoot and save all files into that folder.
One day, a couple of folders from the previous days' of shoot suddenly disappeared. I stopped saving further new files into the drive. I used free and paid recovery software to recover some files from these missing folders and saved them in a different Portable Drive. The recovery software I used couldn't fully repair or reconstruct the lost folders.
Since I had Seagate warranty, I sent it to their rescue service. After more than a month, they sent back previously undamaged files in a new drive with smaller storage space (and which requires external power unlike the one I sent to them).
They didn't care to recover even a single damaged file, not even what I was able to achieve myself with free and paid recovery software in a matter of hours. Why should anyone bother sending their drives to Seagate and wait for more than a month when they wouldn't actually do any recovery? Why is it called a warranty?
I was also promised a brand new replacement drive which never arrived. I emailed them asking to return my original drive as I have hope of rescuing further files myself with other third party software. It has been 9 days since I emailed them. Not received any response. Why should they be silent? I seriously doubt they formatted it and sold it to someone else. The chat function in their website has been disabled all these days. They are practically uncontactable. I feel completely cheated and robbed.
