We had a great time with our guides Ray and Gimmy. The porters round Santiago did an incredible Job and our cook Edison spoiled us with delicious specialities. We can highly recommend this tour!

Los guías Ray y Gimmy son de primer nivel. Fueron muy atentos con todos los miembros del grupo y se adaptaron a la condición física de cade uno de los integrantes. Sobretodo, tienen un gran conocimiento histórico de la región y el país.
Cheff Edison y su equipo nos presentaron platos fantásticos todos los dias, es increíble la calidad de la comida que nos sirvieron. Definitivamente sorprendido, luego de largas caminatas llegar y tener comida fresca y de calidad es muy acogedor, mas que nada estando en el medio de las montañas.
El trabajo que hizo Santiago, el lider de los porteadores fué tremendo. Todo en tiempo y forma, al llegar a los campamentos siempre tenian todo pronto para recibirnos, con té, agua caliente, las tiendas de campañas armadas, y con la merienda servida.
Gran aplauso para este grupo increíble de personas que siempre tienen una sonrisa en la cara y que realmente les importa que las personas alli tengan una experience inolvidable

I did not expect the high quality of care we received. Not only did we eat like kings, our guide was expert in the history and in tending to our needs. I fully recommend this team. Ray, our guide was excellent. Timoty and Boni, our chef and head porter, provided exceptional meals and camp care.

The whole experience was amazing. Ray, our guide answered all of our questions and definitely had our best interest in mind the whole time. Timothy the cook made fantastic food and somehow found a way to prepare a birthday cake with no notice! Boni our head porter and his whole crew were kind, accommodating, and had such upbeat attitudes which really made the experience great!

We just did the 2 day Inka Trail with Sam Travel with our guide Ray and the driver Forty. It was such a good trip! The trek is beautiful and you get to see different Inka settlements on the way. On this trek you get to see Machu Picchu twice on both days!
Our guide Ray was amazing - he had so much information and was able to show and explain everything on the way. He made sure everyone was following, stopped on the way to show us different things and was happy to answer all of our questions. He also knew all the good picture spots which is a plus😊 Inka trail and Machu Picchu is a once in a lifetime experience and we were so happy we had Ray with us on this trip!

Couldn’t think of a better way to do Machu Picchu than the 2 day Inca trail with Ray and Fortu. The trip itself takes you to the sun gate in a wonderful 4-5 hour hike and then you spend the first day taking those panoramic shots everybody want’s then on the second day you get to dig deeper into the Incan culture having plenty of time to explore the sights. Here Ray was very informative and created a good vibe in the group. All in all, super happy with this trip.

We just finished the classic 4D3N Inca Trail with SAM Travel Peru and would highly recommend this tour operator above all others for the following reasons:
1. This company is 100% locally owned and operated. The owner is a former porter and guide, and he employs all local people. His practical knowledge of the tour equated to smoothly ran door-to-door operation. The company took care of all the details, thus leaving us stress-free to enjoy the experience. Moreover, what made this company better than all the others that we encountered on the trail was that #1: SAM Travel Peru operated in small groups of 8 hikers max, not 16. Our group consisted of only 7 hikers. We felt like a close-knit family, and each of us received the proper attention and guidance from our guide Dayvit. #2: This company employed female porters. Our group had the only female porter that we saw on the trail. #3: For such high quality service, their tour price was lower than the others'.
2. The service that we received from our tour guide Dayvit was exceptional. He managed to provide me, the slowest member of the group, the necessary encouragement and support to complete the trail, at the same time giving the others proper guidance, while keeping all of us safe. Dayvit was competent, kind, funny, passionate about his job, and just a great person to be around. We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide.
3. We were amazed by the taste, variety, and quantity of the food provided by Chef Timoteo. His food was some of the best we've ever had, even from fine restaurants. What's even more impressive was that he cooked everything from a propane camp stove.
4. Our team of 12 porters worked hard and worked well together with chef Timoteo, his sous chef, and guide Dayvit to ensure that we were well taken care of in camp at the end of each day.
The incredible experience that we gained while hiking the Inca Trail was largely due to our decision in choosing SAM Travel Peru, and our luck in getting guide Dayvit and chef Timoteo. We would 100% recommend SAM Travel Peru with tour guide Dayvit and chef Timoteo for any tours from Cusco that you may be considering.

De la mano de Ray y Jimmy, nuestros guías, hicimos este recorrido increible de 4 dias y 3 noches.
Las palabras sobran para describir lo maravilloso de la experiencia, no solamente de lo que se ve en el recorrido sino tambien de lo que hace todo el equipo para que esta experiencia sea aun mas maravillosa.
Edison, nuestro cocinero, siempre se encargo de esperarnos tanto en en el desayuno como en almuerzo, merienda y cena con platos realmente exquisitos y nutritivos para lo que nos deparo cada dio.
Santiago, el líder de los porteadores, siempre se encargó de que todos este pronto en tiempo y forma para cuando llegáramos nosotros (varias horas despues que ellos jeje).
Ray y Jimmy, nuestros guías, siempre nos acompañaron con paciencia y buen humor durante todo el viaje haciendo que la experiencia sea mucho mejor!
Mención a parte para todo el resto de los porteadores que hacen un trabajo reamente increible llevando todo lo necesario para que podamos disfrutar de todas las comodidades posibles! Estas personas llevan hasta 25kg en la espalda casi corriendo a través de las montañas cuando uno a veces apenas puede respirar por causa de la altura y el esfuerzo, impresionante!
Muy recomendable para aquellos que les gusta hacer trekking!

We did the 2-day Inca trail and it was a worthwhile experience from beginning to end. Our guide Ray was an excellent leader and very knowledgeable. We felt well looked after at all times. The landscape was just stunning and we got to see Machu Picchu on both days, increasing our chances of seeing it with clear skies :) The drive back with Alex was very smooth and comfortable.

We did the 4Day/3Night Inka Trail. The experience was amazing, as can easily be seen from a multitude of other reviews. The views, while sometimes shrouded in a thick layer of clouds, were at other times simply stunning. There is nothing quite like waking up to the first tender rays of the sun gently brushing the snow covered peaks around you, while you can just sit in your tent holding a hot cup of tea.

Especially to name are our head porter Santiago as well as all the other porters, too nomerous to all name individually. Let it just be known that you guys are the real heroes of this trail, and without you, this would not have been possible.
Another big thanks has to go to our cook Edison, whose cooking skills would be impressive in the kitchen of a major restaurant, let a lone in the confines of a small kitchen tent above the clouds. The meals were simply spectacular.
And last but not least the biggest thanks has to go to our guides, Gimmy and Ray. They were pacesetters, guides, entertainers and always had a smile on their face. Wonderful to have a conversation with, incredibly informative in both the current events facing Peru or the world and the history of this beautiful piece of earth.

All I can say is thank you. This was one of the best experiences of my life.

We had a great trip to Machu Picchu. I would highly recommend doing at least the short Inka trail as the views from the sungate are stunning! All service is so good. Contact us in advance and make sure the security. Our tour guide Liz Montesinos speaks good English and she is knowledgeable.
We feel with this Travel agent, we access some privilege such as board early and the Machu Picchu staff all know our tour guide.

Detailed explain and every step make sure us be on the right track. Very good experience. Liz took great pictures. She generously told us where are good Photo spots.

Spent the day with Liz Montesino who was our tour guide for the Sacred Valley tour from Cusco. She shared stories passed down to her from generations past, which I thought was endearing and helped draw a connection between what we were seeing and the history behind it. She is a great photographer and helped get those perfect insta-pic to take back home too!! Thanks for a fun day, Liz!!

My husband and I were hesitant to book the experience at first because we were concerned about our physical fitness going in. Our guide, Jose, prepared us well. And the porters made a huge difference so we only carried our water, a few snacks, and a rain jacket. I was blown away by the high quality of the food and snacks. Everything was nutritional perfect for fueling us on the high intensity trek. The amazing cook, Fortunado, even made us a cake to celebrate our anniversary. There was a protest going on throughout our trip which made it very difficult on the Sam Travel team but they were so professional and great at keeping us on track. We were the only tour able to make it out of the valley due to significant rains. I'm so glad they specialize in the small group. The 4 day/3 night Inca trail experience was a once in a lifetime dream made possible by Sam Travel.

I booked through Orange Nation, supposedly a partner company with Sam Travel. The team on Whatsapp were very thorough with the itinerary and trek details, it was very transparent. Tour Guide Grober was excellent, punctual, informative with much stories to share, and always available for us from start to the end. His love for the Andean mountains and history is evident. We were a small group of 3, and still had a village of porters to make our trek successful and enjoyable. The porters were extremely hardworking local Peruvians. They work tirelessly to prepare necessities and cook up delicious hearty whole food meals throughought. It was beyond expectations. We all had a splendid trek, despite the cloudy and rainy weather in this season, and ultimately only a glimpse of Machu Picchu for a short time. My one feedback is that the rental sleeping bags to be thoroughly cleaned after every use for the next guest, and my tent had a tiny leak, which was no big deal but should be looked into eventually.

The Inca Trail indeed is medium-difficult, but with preparation and guidance, it will be very enjoyable. It has some of the grandest views I have ever seen. Thank you to the Orange team for the memorable 4 days. To Grober, Ericsson, ‘Samsung’, Oxxo, Santiago, Martin, and a few more names which I hopelessly couldn’t remember, it’s been a great time and I hope to return someday and we’ll play Yahtzee in the mountains once again.

We took the 4D3N Classic Inca Trail and it’s the best decision to do it with Sam Travel Peru! The service is impeccable - really nice meals, clean tents and sleeping bags, hot water to wash our hands, hot tea every morning, ponchos and cover for our daypack etc. Not to mention our guide Jose who is absolutely fantastic, he did not only guide us and share the inca history at the inca sites, but also a lot of geographical and cultural information about peru! The trip wouldn’t be so enjoyable and memorable without the smooth logistics arrangements and great hospitality from the porters and our guide, gracias!

We did the 4 day Inca trek and it was the most amazing experience of our life. The tour was so well planned, our guide Ketty made the trip the perfect adventure, knowledgeable, kind hearted, everything we needed we received with open arms, personal photographer, a truly special and gifted women! The porters, we had 6, worked so hard to carry and organise our belongings, and the cook was awesome. We can’t thank you all enough, it was seamless, thank you so much Sam Perú, for an unforgettable experience! 10/10 highly recommend 🥰

What an amazing experience!!!
We had the best time on our 4 day Inka trail to Machu Picchu. Grober was an incredible guide, super knowledgeable and very accommodating. Our chef Timoteo provided the most incredible Peruvian food and our porters were so strong and so friendly. We ate like Kings, had so many laughs and just the best time. The hike was tough but so worth it.
