I had a 1:1 tour of Sacred Valley with Liz for the day, visiting many sites starting from my Cusco hotel all the way to Ollantaytampo.

Liz was great, because she is knowledgeable of Inca history and Andes culture. You can tell she personally values it so she isn’t just parroting what she learned.

She’s very nice and accommodating. Her English is quite good. The only drawback is she has a very soft spoken voice. Actually in a quiet setting it’s relaxing and fits in well with the experience. But if there is background noise you may need to get very close to her to hear.

All in all I recommend!

This trip was amazing! I had high expectations for seeing one of the wonders of the world, but this blew my expectations out of the water. Incredible! The guide Rey was perfect and provided everything we need (supplies, history lessons, good vibes, etc) and the PORTERS (Gracias Francisco & all)! Haku Haku to the porters!! Every time I felt the hike get difficult, I remembered all they were doing was so much harder! Wow. I could not recommend this trip enough. Great views, amazing food (Gracias Chef Mario!!), perfect sleeping conditions, best tour guide (Rey), and an amazing challenge. 10/10 would recommend :)

We had a wonderful time with Auqui as our guide. He took great care to make sure we were all good during the hike and was super knowledgeable and encouraging of questions during the Machu Picchu tour. Most of all he was lovely to be around and was super friendly and personable. I’m so glad we had him on this hike/tour. Would highly recommend him for your visit to Machu Picchu and the Inca trail.

My guide for the 1 day Inca trail hike, Auqui went above all expectations with his knowledge, care for group members on the hike, open to all sorts of questions, and most of all a ton of knowledge and education on Machu Picchu. I highly recommend Auqui as a guide because he has a ton of experience does not rush anyone and wants the absolute best experience on the trail and at Machu Picchu. He was also a massive help with train and bus tickets and showing you where you needed to go.

I absolutely recommend booking with Sam Travel Peru. They were quick to respond before and during the trip and handled allll the things so I didn’t have to worry about booking the right train, bus, Machu Picchu, etc tickets.

Liz Montesinos was our guide and she is fantastic. She is a local who knows her history, and we were in such good hands. She really took care of us and we felt at ease with her.

I typically handle plans for my travels but this trip had so many details, I decided to go with a travel company. We did the Sacred Valley tour, short Inca trail, and a morning in Machu Picchu on the third day.

Sam Travel handled all logistics, booked hotels and entry tickets, and Liz escorted us so we didn’t have to worry about e.g., getting on the wrong train.

One thing that seemed really above and beyond was the overnight bag transport before our Inca trail hike. Someone met us at the Ollantaytambo train station and took our bag to Aquas Calientes so it was waiting for us upon check in after the hike.

The private vehicles were also a great size. My 6’3 husband and I were very comfortable in our private crossover SUV for the Sacred Valley tour. We rode in a high-ceiling sprinter van for the return to Cusco from Ollantaytambo, and it was very clean, nice, spacious.

I felt like it was such a great bang for our buck. There were also several meals included as well.

Me and my friend participated in short inca trail tour. Our small group tour was with our guide, Grober. He was very prompt with the pick up at our hotel in Cusco, explained what to expect in detail, and during our hike, he was patient and let us go at our own pace. We were in a group with just one other couple so it made the experience better because it was a small group. The hike was difficult but doable even for beginners like us. Grober helped along every step of the way. On Day 2 he explained the Incan traditions and culture in great detail. We highly recommend booking with this company.

Liz Montesinos made our visit special. Really loved the tour and all her tips and insights on Inca's culture!

Best trip of my life. Ray is an expert guide with extensive knowledge of the history. He is also a master teacher - who knows how to bring a group together and encourage each member to do their best. Mirabel rounded out the experience. Providing insight into the flora and especially taking time to speak with my daughter.

SAM travel is hands down the best company to go for the Inca Trail !! I own a company of adventure travel and I have been going with them the last two years. Raymer and Maribel are amazing guides, knowledgeable, kind, caring and have the best cheering positive energy in the world. The cook Timoteo is out of planet Earth! He accommodated everyone dietary needs perfectly. The food was incredible !!
The communication with the company is fluid and they are always ready to help and plan with you whatever tour you need.
I ll travel always with them!!

I can write pages of Appreciation for Sam travel and our Guide Dayvit but will make it simple - 1) I have talked with a few others but Sam travels was trendy to make the most customizable tour - for example they combined MP + Seven lakes + Rainbow Mountain + Lake Titica + Lima + Cusco and that too in consecutive days
2) Second is Quality and Professionalism and friendliness of the Staff Junior/ Saul and our Guide( Dayvit Viscara H ) was excellent- he was there all throughout and his attention to details and his knowledge of all the regions and history and local folks and legends - was amazing and an all rounder and highly recommend him - fluent in English and Spanish
3) Price was pretty comparable but quality I would say was a bit above the rest

Realmente la excursión no podría haber tenido mejores guías. Tanto JP como Jimmy estuvieron que cada detalle, sin dejar a nadie atrás. Pensando siempre en las necesidades del grupo. Respondiendo todas las dudas y sin ningún lugar a dudas mejoraron la experiencia del camino del Inca. Muy agradecido a JP y Jimmy!!!

PD: Creo que la empresa le debería proveer zapatos apropiados para la montaña a los Portadores. Vi que otras empresas lo hacen.

We used Sam Travel for a 4-Day trek on the Inca Trail. The trip far exceeded my expectations. The guides (Ray and Maribella) were professional, knowledgeable, kind, and fun. The trek was challenging and rewarding, and the Sam Travel staff (guides, porters, cooks) all contributed to a 5-star experience.

From the moment we embarked on our two-day adventure to the iconic Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu, followed by the serene Humantay Lake and the vibrant Rainbow Mountain, we knew we were in for an extraordinary experience. The travel agency’s impeccable planning and attention to detail ensured that every aspect of our trip was seamless and enjoyable.

Raymer, our guide, was the epitome of professionalism and passion. His extensive knowledge of the history and culture of each site enriched our understanding and appreciation of these majestic places. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his thoughtful guidance allowed us to navigate the trails and altitudes with ease and confidence
The agency’s choice of accommodations and meals was top-notch, reflecting the local flavors and hospitality. The breathtaking views and natural wonders we witnessed were matched only by the warmth and expertise of Raymer and the team.

Also Fortu and Alex were so kind to drive us around.

This crew (JP, Jimmy, Mario, Francisco) were incredible and I'd book again in an instant.

As someone that struggled quite a lot with the difficult terrain, Jimmy's patience was endless and vibes were high.

I am amazed at how JP so efficiently managed us, how he knew how long everything would take, and how empathetic he was with each individual.

And Mario and Francisco headed and incredible team of porters - who cooked amazing food for us all the way, and had everything organised at each stop.

Gracias por todo! We literally could not have achieved this without you.

This trip was THE trip of a lifetime and JP and Jimmy are huge contributors to my experience! They are knowledgeable , kind and patient. I will recommend Sam travel Peru to everyone I know!

We conquered the Inca trail and it was only made possible with the help and guidance from our expert guides Jean Pierre (JP) and Jimmy. The knowledge these gentlemen shared was admired by all of our group and the envy of other trail hikers who stopped to listen. The hike has many layers of challenges including language barriers, altitude sensitivities and food specifications. The team at Sam travel exceeded the needs and went above to ensure our comforts were met. A special mention must be made to Mario, the Chef who somehow performed magic with nutritious flavourful meals to satisfy even the pickiest consumers and Francesco who was our lead porter who orchestrated the harmony that happened behind the scenes to get everything done. Nothing less than marvellous from this team. Thank you to each of the group who made our trek a remarkable experience.

for the classic inca trail in April 2024 - JP and Jimmy were great guides and very accommodating. They were always so optimistic and happy while we were doing something difficult, and it really made the trip easier to get through. JP was super professional and great at explaining things in both English and Spanish. He has a genuine curiosity for learning and is always updating his knowledge.

The porters, with Francisco as the head, made the trip as easy as possible. They always went out of their way to offer help and provide tea and other goods. The food by Mario, our chef, was also surprisingly good and we had a few people in our group that had dietary restrictions and they were always accommodated.

Thank you for a great trip - i learned a lot and I wish i could do it again. -Antonia

Hike was challenging but the tour guides Henry and Jose were there every step of the way. Their experience was obvious immediately. Answered questions I didn’t even know I had.

10/10 would recommend
