When you bought your policy, you agreed to our Terms of Business and confirmed this by ticking a box. Those terms include a £90 charge for customer changes to the policy. These charges are in place to cover our costs when amending your policy.

Increased price of premium

Having reviewed your journey, we can confirm that your premium increased as a result of the number of years No Claims Bonus (NCB) being provided incorrectly. When the policy was purchased via MoneySupermarket you confirmed that you had 9 years NCB. As part of our validation checks, we ask customers to provide proof of NCB, which you did, and you confirmed that you only had 8 years NCB. With the change in information, your policy needed updating and as a result caused an increase in premium.
The correct information must be provided to any insurance company. Had your policy been allowed to continue unaltered, you could have faced serious problems in the event of needing to make a claim. We feel it is better for you if we check your information at the start of your policy so that if you need to make a claim, it can be handled swiftly and without delay.
Due to the increase, you decided to cancel the policy. When you bought your policy, you agreed to our Terms of Business and confirmed this by ticking a box. The terms state there is a cancellation fee of £25 if you cancel within 14 days, or £55 if you cancel after 14 days. All fees are non-refundable. These fees are clearly shown before purchase. We require all customers to review and agree to them, along with our Terms and Conditions, before entering payment details.
Cancellation charges are in place to cover some of the costs we incur in setting up policies that are cancelled through no fault of our own. We keep this as low as possible and only apply it to cover genuine costs. Regarding the cancellation of policies, for your protection, we ask for written confirmation via your recorded email address. Once received, the policy is cancelled promptly.
