I would give them a zero if I could.
The companies refund policy is the worst. Our travel agent called and they said, for a dollar she could hold the package 72 hours while she talked to us and we made our decision on taking that trip. They did not have a hotel in one town that we had but they said if one came up, they would book it. Well, a hotel came up over the night (8 hours later) and they booked everything! We were just hold the trip until our own travel agent could get us the details and we could make our decision. Suddenly, we had a trip all booked. We tried to cancel it because it is not what we wanted and Railbookers said it was NOT refundable. The reason I was given was that the hotel was not going to reimburse them for the booking. Now I’ve booked a few hotels in my time, and you cannot tell me that hotel who does businesses with this booking company would not reimburse them if a room was canceled within 24 hours. Honestly, I think the whole thing smacked of scam. They gave us a credit but they said they could not give us a refund. We were just researching a packet suddenly cost us $1200 that was not refundable but we could get a credit that we had to use within a year. I do NOT recommend booking through this company. We went back-and-forth for at least a month with them trying to get this refund that should’ve been given right away. Tell me if I’m wrong, but isn’t there a law that says that if you are in a contract made over the phone you have three days to cancel. We tried to cancel within 12 hours. The company’s response now was the same as a year ago. They said they explained it all back then. Both our “20 year experienced personal travel advisor here” and we, did not get clear contract details. We never signed a contract. Everything was over the phone. We put the dollar on our card to hold the booking for 72 hrs. Within 8, we had the whole trip money CHARGED to our card. NO co-operation from Railbookers. Just a hard-line, “too bad!” I waited to make this review until we used our credit because I didn’t wanna find out that the credit suddenly disappeared somewhere in the bureaucracy. We used the credit on a different trip rather than loose $1,200!
