God service, poor range
The service from the company was excellent. We bought the walkie talkies for the Emergency Committee of the Parish Council in case of outages of power affecting other forms of communication. The claimed range is from hilltop to hilltop. Within the village, even outdoors, the range is about one tenth of that claimed. It makes them far less useful than we had thought and we are disappointed.

Buildings, trees, terrain, and other obstacles can all impact performance, even when communicating outdoors.
For emergency planning within a village setting, it may be worth considering a licensed radio solution, as these radios generally provide greater coverage and improved reliability compared to licence-free models.
