Just come back from a weeks stay at Kingfisher lodge in Retallack resort. Beware, it seems once you have paid for your stay, the communication from Queenswood is then nonexistent. I emailed several times about amending our booking to ensure that our twin rooms were made into doubles (you can request this when booking). I stated very clearly that I was happy to pay for this amendment. I sometimes co-sleep with my baby so this was quite an important amendment for me personally as I didn’t feel I could safely co-sleep in a single bed. I initially emailed a few weeks before arrival. This was ignored. I sent subsequent chaser emails as we got nearer to our stay. These were both ignored. The day before arrival, I dropped Jo (the housekeeper) a message asking if this could be done. Not a single reply. To add insult, it appeared they had the time to regularly add stories to their Instagram page.
The lodge itself was lovely but it was in need of some TLC. Toilet flush not working properly in main bathroom, no hand soap in bathrooms but we were provided with body wash and shampoo. Hot tub was lovely but it had so many chemicals in it, my favourite bikini has now been bleached (I only went in for half an hour and all the colour has run out. I’m gutted. Worth noting I’ve worn this bikini to many spas before and this has never been an issue. I have seen another similar review of this place with the same feedback).
Overall it was a pleasant stay, it’s just a shame it was tarnished with the above. The lack of sleep from not being able to co-sleep with my baby meant I was cursing those running queenswood in the early hours of the mornings.
We had a lovely stay at the hub. We were 12 ladies and go away together every year to Retallack and this was one of the nices houses we have stayed in. We had a couple of little initial niggles and Jo came down straight away to sort out. Also nice little touches like the welcome pack including scones, jam and cream 😋 thank you again and already booked for next year

We stayed at Retallack Resort, Constantine Lodge in February this year, 4 adults and 4 children (1 of them a toddler and 1 an infant) and 2 dogs! Absolutely stunning, fabulous accommodation, location perfect 👌🏼 the dogs were happy the baby was happy the children were happy the adults were happy! I can't imagine how lovely it would be in mid summer. Clean, tidy, everything you could need available. Owner Amy was on hand at request for any little niggles, cannot fault the stay. 5 stars +

We went as a group of friends to celebrate Christmas a bit late as I work at sea. Everything was absolutely fantastic. Even in the January weather the pool, hot tub and ping pong were very much enjoyed by all.
We all loved the games room and the house in general was clean, tidy, and well kept.
Was an absolute pleasure and a great few days relaxing.

We arrived at ‘110 Lakeside’ at the Retallack Resort to find mouse droppings under the sink, dirty laundry including what we assume were the previous residents dirty underpants and bed sheets soaking wet in the utility and filthy kitchen cutlery. It got worse, after 2 days the already leaking washing machine stopped working. One of the upstairs showers started leaking through the ceiling into the downstairs bathroom. The ensuite shower for the double room upstairs wouldn't stay in the shower holder falling and hitting me on the head the first time I used it. The metal bracket for the shower screen downstairs was loose and the screen was precarious at best. The boiler is very noisy, almost half of the light bulbs need to be replaced and there are various fittings that produce a low irritating humming noise as a consequence. The hot tub is so old, it gets warm but the jets are totally ineffective, well the ones that actually work are at least. Most of the TV’s in the house don’t work and although these were the only thing the Retallack resort are responsible for, they weren’t fixed for the week we were in residence. All of these things are easy to resolve with basic maintenance but its very clear that this property has seen better days. Feel free to contact me for pictoral / video proof of any of the above, I have it all!! Unfortunately whilst all of this would be very easy to resolve, the one thing that cannot be resolved is that this property is adjacent to the new power generators that have been put in place for the resorts extended building which is ongoing. This produces a constant loud low level hum, it can be heard through the double glazed windows and I dread to think what it would be like to stay in this property in the summer if you had the windows open. All in all, my recommendation to anyone considering staying at the Retallack resort would be to avoid all of the Queenswood properties here as unfortunately, the pictures on their website do not accurately represent the tired properties they are renting out which are in need of basic maintenance to make them safe for human habitation. The Retallack resort may be being touted as a 5 star 'Spa' resort but it is far from it. The communal pool is not warm enough for children to enjoy going in although it's fine if you are swimming fast to keep warm. The steam room was out of action for our whole stay and the showers in the general changing areas were cold. This whole communal area needs a revamp but everything is being invested in the new buildings which are subsequently putting too much of a strain on this resort without the associated upscaling of the other amenities here down to the basic level of refuse collection.
At the time of writing this review, Amy and the team were not in a position to speak to me about the issues highlighted to them despite repeated attempts on my part to talk to them to try and expedite the resolution of some of the more simple issues. The statement on their website that they make themselves available 7 days a week only relates to them taking your money for the holiday not to dealing with problems associated with your subsequent stay.
. It is a wonderful property, amazing views and great outside space. The house manger Jo was super helpful nothing was any trouble for her. The whole house was lovely and clean great beds cannot say what was the best out of it as , cinema room, pool, sauna, hot tub kept everyone occupied despite the weather and the dog had the best time ever 😉 .
If you actually want luxury accommodation and good customer service - don't stay here.
We paid over £3000 for 6 of us to stay in a Queenwood Holidays "luxury" house. When we arrived we were greeted by a dirty house with cobwebs and spiders and dead flies in the spotlights, broken fixtures, a hole in the decking, a hot tub that wasn't near up to temperature to use, and the world's creakiest floorboards which ensured we kept waking each other up in the night if we got up to go to the loo.
- All tables were sticky and every kitchen utensil, pot and pan needed a good clean.
- The walls, light fittings, and curtain rails were covered in cobwebs and spiders
- The hot tub wasn't ready or hot so this was out of action for a couple of days because they take so long to heat up
Along with the filthiness to add to the list of issues that we had:
- Dead flies in the bathroom downlights
- Wall lights broken
- Superking beds are two small beds pushed together so they are really uncomfortable with a gap down the middle
- Pillow cases are too small so the pillows fall out and they are filthy
- Our bedroom door wouldn't close properly, so it would pop open and bang shut throughout the night if you had the window open
- Showers upstairs either boiling hot or freezing cold
- Floors warped by water so they constantly creak and wake everyone up
- Broken decking meaning we had could only let our dog out there supervised for fear of him seriously hurting himself
- Decking covered in bird poo
- BBQ covered in bird poo so was unusable
- Wardrobe downstairs filled with boxes and Christmas tree decorations so was unusable
- Holes and cracks in the walls where it needs re-plastering
Amy's instructions are to contact the housekeeper if there are any problems, which we did. The housekeeper read and ignored our first two messages, so we contacted Amy who said "So sorry, I'm on it." Turns out she wasn't on it because we never heard back from her again during the holiday.
Understandably, we complained after the holiday through WhatsApp. Amy ignored that, too. So we followed up by email. She ignored that, too. So we sent another WhatsApp saying that we're going to leave 1* reviews - funnily enough, she managed to respond to that one saying that she was away and doesn't use her personal phone for work (despite the fact the number we used is the business number listed on the website), that she was sorry and would look into it.
A day later we get a generic "yep, we didn't do a good enough job" kind of reply and the offer of a £100 refund. A 3% refund equating to a little over £16 per person for all of the issues listed above. Understandably, we said this isn't good enough - and we haven't heard back from her ever since despite chasing 3 more times.
Amy's customer service is probably the worst I've ever experienced. Once she's got your money she just does not care. We saw the signs before the holiday when we asked for some local information and she ignored that, but assumed it was a one-off - it wasn't.
If you stay here and you have an issue (such as expecting the house to actually be cleaned before you arrive...), you categorically will NOT get help - or probably even a reply - from Amy or the useless housekeeper.

We pulled up to a property that had a for sale sign up so clearly they are trying to move this on. The place hadn't been cleaned ahead of our arrival. We did get an email asking if we wanted to book again next year!
When we got back we were emailed asking for our feedback which I sent and asked for a partial refund.....no reply. I chased and finally after over a week Amy offered £100. So a £16.66 refund per person! We said no as we paid a lot of money and asked for a more sensible offer.....no reply.
Before we arrived at the property I emailed an messaged a few times asking how to book the spa, what supermarkets offered deliveries etc and Amy wouldn't reply. She wants your money - that is all.
Amy doesn't care about the state of the properties, how she can make sure you enjoy your holiday she just wants the money. Once she has that - you're on your own.
It was so lovely I really loved the house it was a beautiful clean house that you can feel at home and the owner was so sweet and kind I really liked this experience.
We have had a lovely holiday at Lakeside Lodge Fistral 108, we had the best time, location is idea for lots of trips out travelling around Cornwall, we have visited before in a different lodge and love staying with Queenwood holidays. The lodge is 5 stars, comfortable, quiet and very relaxing, welcome gift was lovely too. We all enjoyed waking up to the geese and ducks outside the lodge 🙂. hopefully will be returning again soon. 🙂

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Retallack Resort with Queenwood Holidays, booked through Airbnb. The lodge was extremely clean and tidy, and we were very pleased with the hot tub and outdoor area. The pizza oven and barbecue made for some brilliant meals too. The bedrooms were spacious and the living spaces were great for our evenings in. Amy, our host, was fantastic and would immediately try to help if there was an issue.
Couldn't have asked for any better.
The location was brilliant- with Padstow, Newquay etc all only a short drive away. There was a shop on the resort site that we used and a big Tesco only 10 minute away. The activities at the resort included a spa, gym, swimming pool, water sports etc. There are also some brilliant areas off the beaten track that we discovered. I would recommend a visit to St Mawgan, for example, with a fantastic gardens, pub and church to wonder round. Lots of beaches only a short drive away, would recommend Porthcothan.
We stayed at one of the chalets at Retallack Resort for a week with some mates, and were very impressed. There was a hot tub which we used almost every night and there was plenty of things to do both on site at the resort as well as at nearby towns, such as Padstow and Newquay. We also received a welcome package on arrival made up of some kitchen basics to last the week as well as some classic scones 😋. I definitely recommend using Queenwood Holidays if you’re staying in Cornwall at any time!
Very well equipped and located in a perfect location. The site has lots going for itself. Fantastic fields to play sports on, lots of parking space, and a great pool and spa on site. We made full use of the hot tub, BBQ and pizza oven which were on our patio.
We also loved the TVs, living room spaces, open-plan designs and brilliant kitchen facilities.
There is lots to do in the area. I would recommend going to Healeys Cider Farm (about 25 mins away). Padstow town was also really nice!
For a group holiday, we found it perfect and will be booking again.
We have stayed at Retallack Resort many times - the last few times we have booked it through Queenwood Holidays. Amy provides a very personalised service, nothing is too much trouble. Her team are at the resort frequently and always handle any issues promptly and professionally, always checking if there is anything you need. The lodges are beautifully appointed and at the same time very dog friendly which for us is a must. The resort itself is in a great location approx 15 mins from Padstow and many glorious beaches. Thank you Amy for many wonderful stays and we’re already looking forward to the next one!

We went to Herons during May half term and what a stay it was. The house was amazing, in its own private space. The pool was amazing and it felt like we were abroad as weather was delightful.
The house was really spacious and comfortably fit our large family of 12 in.
The cinema room was one of our favourite rooms and it was nice to watch a film at night with the kids.
The resort itself has a shop and a bar which was nice.
The location was also excellent. Only 10/15 mins drive to Padstow and around 30 mins to NewQuay. We did travel to St Ives also and that took around 45 mins.
This is the first time we have been Cornwall and it’s one of the best holidays we have been on. Stunning place.
Finally the Service Amy provided prior and during our stay was excellent. My mother in law needed oxygen and Amy sorted this with the vendor prior to arrival. Nothing was too much for her and she was on standby to fix problems, such as sorting the sauna and hot tub when we had some issues.
I would definitely recommend staying in Herons in particular and using Queenwood Holidays. Just want to thank Amy and her team for an amazing experience.

Absolutely stunning! We stayed in one of the lodges by the lake, loved watching the ducks other birds. The lodge itself was spotless, although a few bits of furniture are looking a tad tired. This didn’t take away from the home away from home feel though.
Someone came from queenwood after we arrived to make sure we were okay and had everything we needed, which was a really nice personal touch and the lady was absolutely lovely and friendly.
Will definitely stay again!
Amazing place to stay. Had all we needed. Host was very approachable and very kind. My family and I will definitely be returning. Very dog friendly and great places to see which are very close in location. Amazing week away with the family.
My experience at 208 SNUG [Point break] AT RETALLACK RESORT-Saint Columb Major started very nerve-wracking due to the lack of communication. However, a valid reason was given. Whilst they were issues with the accommodation [appliances not working, light bulbs required, plumber required for the toilet, window frame separating from the interior wall, broken chair on the balcony, no dustpan, unusable BBQ unit], my main issue and yours as well, is the CLEANLINESS which you can not escape.
All lampshades were full of dust or cobwebs.
Cutlery not clean
All windows on the top floor had cobwebs with dead flies or insects.
Sewer/ Drain flies the nest or a vast amount in one of the bedrooms of the top floor.
A few towels [white] had massive red/rust stains on them.
Beds headrest full of dust
The carpet in all bedrooms by the side table and bed has to think dark notice dust on the skirting board and on the carpet.
It truly felt that we spent most of the week cleaning and relaxing. The accommodation can be of high standards. However, once the basics have been addressed, I would only recommend people to stay at this accommodation. However, I recommend others on the same plot, which SNUG owns.
We stayed in watersedge 111 far from luxury accommodation carpet upstairs threadbare in places,upstairs Bath takes hours to run as the water just trickles out the sink in the kingsize room needs the drainage sorting as the water doesn't go down the plug, brown scum around shower needs a good clean ironing board but no iron no espresso machine as advertised tumble dryer not working no bbq as advertised, no welcome hamper freezer drawers broken and everything needs a good clean very disappointing as the prices are expensive you'd expect the accommodation to be up to standard.
