We arrived at KingFisher 104 after a ten-hour journey tied, hungry and with the grandchildren excited about their holiday, but what we were presented with was a lodge that hadn’t been cleaned or prepared. We immediately phoned Amy the owner who was very apologetic suggesting we go to the bar to have a drink while the property was cleaned, saying that she would make it up to us and pick up the drinks tab. After about an hour and half she phoned to say the lodge was now ready for us and had been fully cleaned. While it’s fair to say it had been cleaned, the standard of cleaning was poor, with sanitary products still in the bins and hair in the plug holes.
The property is described as being luxury, but it’s far from that, its tired, poorly maintained with curtains hanging off and cupboard shelves broken. Some areas are really in need of some tender loving care.
Following our return home, we sent emails and text messages including copies of the receipts to Amy but received no response, not even the courtesy of an acknowledgement. We did receive several automated emails asking us to leave a review on our stay, so here it is.
All we were asking for in our emails was for repayment of the £80 (there were eight of us) we had spent in the bar as promised, this represented less than 2.5% of what it had cost us to rent the property, but heard nothing.
We are now left with no choice but to write this review to warn others thinking of booking via Queenswood Holidays of our experience. I’m also tempted to pursue a claim through the small claims court, while the money owed is not the issue, it’s the principle of being fobbed off and mislead.
So, our advice would be to avoid Queenswood Holidays at all costs and spend your money elsewhere – Amy Tucker Brown cannot be trusted.
While she didn’t have the courtesy to respond to our emails or text messages, I suspect she will find time to answer this review, coming up with some good excuses.
We had the most wonderful stay at Herons. Amy was simply brilliant at organising everything at such short notice and was readily accessible for all our queries. The house is delightful with all the amenities and very clean. The children had so much fun in the pool and we loved the hot tub and sauna. The house is located in a great area with close access to many activities. Amy is absolutely brilliant and we could not have asked for more!

We enjoyed our week in Padstow and the house itself was clean and tidy
The property was not worth the amount we paid for the week .
However the presentation outside was disappointing,the garden area is not maintained with weeds and brambles growing up around the pool and through the Astro turf .One of the loungers was split but usable .
The back of the property is fenced off with harris fencing and this continues around an area of the park spoiling the views and blocking access to the pond and walking area .
The description and photographs we looked at before booking are not true and up to date .
The water sport staff are very helpful and engaging but the whole area needs a clean and tidy up ,fences are broken and the area needs to be upgraded and made more presentable
Overall the site looks tired and was certainly not the luxury holiday as advertised .
Accommodation was spacious and clean. We got complementary cream tea upon arrival which was really nice. Only pity was that the hottub was not heated the first night.

Absolutely lovely experience with Amy the owner going above and beyond to be helpful and ensure we enjoyed our stay. Accommodation was spotless, with all the utilities and appliances you'd need. We had a wheelchair user and needed a modified ramp in one of the houses, Amy paid for it and got it delivered next day. I simply can't believe these few negative reviews that seem to have popped up, they seem overblown and unreasonable. For our experience, a group of 10 over two houses, we all had a wonderful experience and Amy made sure of that. The water park is hilarious, the wakeboarding well instructed, the flowrider fabulous, food and drinks in the restaurant enjoyable and the cleanliness of the whole resort very good. The location is great if you have a car, within easy reach of plenty of activities, we were pretty busy and didn't get do half of what we would have liked, there is so much to explore. Couldn't recommend enough, will definitely be back!

Would definitely stay here again. Many thanks

I am writing another review just to clear up any misunderstanding from the previous review and the response I had from the owner Amy at Queenwood.
We stayed at Trevone 43 Saturday 15th to Saturday 22nd June 2024 and every m thing I wrote in my previous review is correct as is the person who also wrote a review on Trevone 43 and stayed the week after me.
I did receive a 10 per cent refund from Amy on my return after I had to sent many emails lots of which were ignored for 2 weeks after our return.
The cleaners did not show up at the house on the Monday even after Amy said they would I know this because my daughter was at the house all day finishing her dissertation for uni. The decking was washed down and pictures sent to us a week after our return home and was not cleaned at all while we were there. The decking at the front door was broken even though we reported this to Amy and it was left like this for the next guests. I am not writing anything offensive just writing the truth the same as the other recent review on Trevone 43 and unfortunately I would NEVER use Queenwood holidays again Amy doesn’t respond promptly to emails or messages sometimes taking days and days by which time you get quite frustrated.

We stayed in Herons and whilst tired it was perfect for our group with plenty of space and each room having an en-suite was ideal.
We had a few issues but Amy was quickly on hand to deal with and nothing was too much trouble for her.
The table tennis and pool tables were a hit.
The shop had basic supplies and the gym was again basic but functional. We went on the inflatables which were smaller than the usual big parks and the life guards were a bit unfriendly and would not even let you jump off from the top of the biggest one (which was not that big) but we still had fun!
Given Herons is on the end of the row of homes you do also have an element of privacy.
A few practical tips :
Don’t bring dog bowls, picnic baskets beach towels as these are supplies. There wasn’t 12 towels but lots!
The coffee machine is an old style Nespresso so small capsules
The oven is a bit tricky to turn on and there were no instructions so we found turning off at the main switch to reset was sometimes needed.
If you are looking for a holiday location with on site facilities and close to a handful of fab (dog friendly) beaches this is your place.

Fabulous I couldn't fault it. The house was amazing after a long days travelling and arriving at 11.30 at night the milk and scones tea and coffee were very welcome. I was so impressed by Amy's attentiveness she called was so friendly and nice and genuinely making sure we enjoyed our holiday. The house has everything the park is lovely multi generation holiday so the two lounges were ideal to give everyone space thank you Amy for such a lovely holiday the place was spotless and I couldn't ask for more. My daughter particularly loved the ducks and the hot tub was fab to chill out in the evening.

We stayed at Trevone 43 Retallack Resort and we were quite disappointed. The four bedroom property is spacious and furnished well but unfortunately it is tired in places. The two upstairs bathrooms both need the shower frames replacing and there is mould around the seals. The outside of the property is in need of a repaint and as it’s the first property everyone drives past it is very noticeable. There was a hole in the decking by the front door which was quite dangerous for our dog. The paving slabs around the parking area and to the rear decking are also broken and move when you stand on them. The hot tub frame for the lid was broken and it took two men to lift it on and off which wasn’t ideal. Also, there were no plastic plates, bowls or cups as in the description. We paid £1500 for the first week in July and do not feel like the property matched its advertising. We didn’t contact Queenwood holidays while we were there as we just wanted to enjoy a well needed family holiday and all of the problems had clearly been like that for some time. Anyone visiting the property to clean, check, change the hot tub water would definitely have noticed all of the problems we mentioned. I contacted them on our return and sent photos of the problems. We have only been offered a £50 refund or 15% off our next holiday with them which they had already offered before I complained as a previous customer offer. I asked for a 15% refund from this holiday instead which apparently they are unable to authorise. I have therefore declined their offer and chosen instead to write an honest review of our experience, to encourage Queenwood holidays to make sure their properties match their advertising.
I have also noticed a review from family who stayed the week before us saying the hot tub was broken. They had contacted Queenwood holidays while they were there so they were very aware of this problem before we even arrived which is not what we were led to believe.

Queenwood Lodges are set in some wonderful country near lovely beaches with loads of attractions to visit with family.
The Lodges are touted as luxury - that would be an expectation of 5 star, but the Samphire 30 Lodge we stayed in was anything but, more like a tired 3 star. Adequate if you don't mind roughing it. I have camped in cleaner barns on military exercises! Once booked it became very difficult to get a response from the owners; emails, text messages and phone calls generally remained unanswered and only persistent follow up got results. Arriving at the Lodge we searched for a 2nd key - there wasn't one and despite phoning for one there was no response during our stay. Incidentally there was little point in having a key as the hot tub was run off a plug from the kitchen so a window had to be left open all the time - why no external sockets? The Lodge was really pretty unclean on arrival and cleaners had to be alerted to come out and rectify a number of immediate problems. Sick on the side of one of the beds, bathrooms in a poor state and the toilet brushes were so gungy that they could be used to kick-start terraforming the planet Mars. The arrival instructions - we got two different ones - we expected an American fridge freezer with an ice/water dispenser, but got a standard upright fridge freezer, not really sufficient for three families in an 8 person Lodge. No Airer was found as itemised on the list as to what facilities to expect, the varnish on the table downstairs was tacky/sticky, general cleanliness of the Kitchen and the items in it was poor. The rear patio garden furniture was covered in green mould. The most dangerous thing was the gas cooker, all the switch turning indications/symbols had disappeared on the hob (all the switches were not fixed and could be removed) and the cooker; however managed not to burn the place down! No working light in the washing machine room. The washing machine failed on the last evening and we couldn't open it so had to leave a towel behind. It was a really old machine too, like the rest of the white goods, definitely not luxury and well past their prime. No shaver socket in the upstairs bathroom. One of the biggest nuisances was the fact that only one person could shower at a time and no one could use the water elsewhere when this was happening. There was a large hole on the kitchen work surface, mould on some of the curtains and in various corners and for a beach holiday surprisingly no linen baskets or somewhere to hang our beach towels to dry. Oh and by the way our superking bed (@£28 for its provision) was just two oversize singles pushed together, the gap in the middle being a danger for any vigorous nighttime activity! My wife hit her head on the sloping bedroom ceiling on a number of occasions before I moved the beds over to the internal wall. The upstairs shower was pretty asthmatic when one could use it. I hope our predecessors in the Lodge haven't missed the odd sock and their underwear that we found. The website looks really good, but who would have thought that to pre-book a swimming session one has to click on "Flowrider" in the text of the instructions to access the pool booking system? Using the term luxury to describe the Lodge is a contravention of the Trade Descriptions Act and the gas cooker should be sorted out to comply with SHEF regulations. This was not luxury more an endurance test of civilians not used to living in military field conditions. I don't think I will repeat the experiment.

There’s no point sending Emil as noone ever emails back had to message Amy to send cleaners round to come and clean the sofa and back garden. Won’t be returning

We booked this for 11 of us, for a joint 80th birthday celebration and it was awesome! Really great house with all the facilities you could want, including pool table, hot tub and well appointed ensuite rooms. The shared lounge/kitchen is epic and ideal for get togethers and family meals!
(We struggled a bit to get the oven/hob and multioven microwave working and could have done with some instructions, but there were other options and ways round small things like that)
There is plenty to do in the house- games, reading, pool, TV's etc and all the resort's sports are available- we did the water park obstacle course and it was hilarious and so much fun, even in the drizzle! DO IT!
We had booked the Flowrider but it was broken and awaiting a part- they did offer wakeboarding instead but that was out of our comfort zone this time!!
We ate in the restaurant one night - the food was really good when it came-but the service was pretty appalling- 20mins just to get a round of drinks and we were in there for 2 hours as the wait for food was so long!
We swam in the indoor pool and that was fun and relaxing- great facilities in there too, with sauna and steam room.
There are plenty of places to go for walks/ runs/ cycling on site and locally.
In terms of the house and the booking- both the value for money and communication were great and having an app with all the info at your fingertips was brilliant.
The only thing we'd say needs improving is that a lot of the rooms doors (and some cupboard doors) don't shut properly- we had to wedge a bit of cardboard in our room door- but again, it's a minor thing!
It was a shame the view from the house was not the best due to a load of metal fencing all around the lake and beside the houses- either keeping ducks/geese in, or dogs out maybe? But other than that, a beautiful location and quiet part of the resort. Just a 5 min/ 300m walk to main reception/ shop/ pool/bar etc. We'd definitely book again for a special occasion. Thank you Queenswood for a very memorable and special stay!

We were in Rockpools 18 , had a great time , the lodge was so spacious, clean tidy , would have given five stars but a handyman needs to spend some time in the lodge , but it did not affect the holiday. The lodge was very well equipped the outside space was amazing . All communication with Amy was dealt with quickly and efficiently, would highly recommend Queenwood Holidays.

No BBQ so when requested I got a briquette one where the brochure said lump wood… never bothered in the end… the site did not want to know as the lodge was not booked through them…

We booked the Snug 205 for a hen do for 13 people. Although there was only beds for 12 people Amy was great at offering us the option to bring an airbed. The location was amazing, the home was clean and bright. Ample parking for all of our guests. We asked for the hot tub to be freshened up on the Sunday after lots of use, the housekeeper was quick to respond and sorted us help. The resort is beautiful. Amy’s recommendations for our activities were really helpful too. We had such a great time here will be booking again.
